After thousands of years of experimenting with ideologies, we are beginning to understand that no set of beliefs can force the hand of a higher force of will. Remarkably, most religions believe just the opposite. They think their beliefs are the solution to the world’s problems—the driving force of morality. Many believe “we are the one true religion … our god is the one true god.†Indeed, if any brand of religion could solve human problems, we would have already experienced a proliferation of its success around the world. Instead, we have thousands of belief systems and millions of discontented members living under a delusion.
