About the Author

When he learnt to talk, the first questions he asked happened to be “What is the source of life? Who are we? Where did we come from? Where are we headed to?”… Following this, his questions about “existence, life, death, birth and the origin of religions” deepened…

When he was in primary school, he stated questioning what was communicated to him as ‘religion’, the concepts of ‘sin and good deeds’, ‘fate and free will’ and ‘heaven and hell’, unearthing their discrepancy… As his family had hard time answering these questions, they enlisted the help of his grandmother who was coming from the (Rumi’s) Sufi Tradition. This gave birth to a process of “contemplative dialogue about existence & the Truth” between them, which would last for long years. These talks, which spanned for long years, were closed to the outside (even to the other members of the family) and exclusive to them…

During his university years, he comprehended that “the Truth” can only be understood if one can pinpoint the “common root” between all religions, teachings, disciplines, philosophies, paths and branches of science that seem to be far from each other and that otherwise it can never be understood from a biased angle…

In the following years, he researched all the major religions, spiritual teachings, sacred paths, enlightenment traditions, disciplines, philosophies of the world and the meanings hidden behind them. He had understood that he had to put the modus of living this knowledge pointed at, into action. And toward this end, the only means was to work with an enlightened master… Day and night, he continuously wished for such a relationship to enter his life. And finally his wish came true…

During the master-apprentice relationship that lasted 12 years, he has gone through processes that are impossible to be put into either spoken word or writing. After immersing himself into the teaching, he took a retreat within himself. Following a period of silence and incubation that lasted years, he started publishing the book series intending to express “the Truth” that was “distilled” from these processes he went through, which was the source of all religions, teachings, philosophies and paths of enlightenment, without reducing it to any one of these teachings and philosophies but making it encompassing them…

On the path that granted him this experience & understanding, he never took money for the seminars and teachings he gave over the years, expecting nothing from the participants. He is adamant to continue on the same path in the future. As he explains in his books: “The Truth is not as cheap as to be bought or to be obtained without merit…”

About the Book-Series

Wings of The Phoenix

If engaged in search of “the Truth”, one should first acquire a scholarly depth to be able to find the link between the root of all religions, spiritual traditions, philosophies and science. As “the Truth” can only be approached via a holistic (comprehensive) understanding. It is only possible at the end of such a path that seemingly separate parts (religions, philosophies, teachings, thoughts, paths, scientific branches) can unite to form a “compass”. And subsequently, it is necessary to arrive at the ‘gate’ pointed by the compass, to be ‘forged within that experience’ and to go through a genuine ‘transformation’… The absence of one of these processes leaves the seeker with only “one wing”, crawling on the ground instead of gliding freely in the skies. They may think that they are covering a distance when struggling on the ground, as they clap their wings…

[* “Wings of the Phoenix”, the book series that is born out of a journey which lasted more than 20 years and included this quest, experiences and processes, is written to transmit the essence distilled from them and to make comprehend -from an interdisciplinary perspective- “the Truth” that centres all… *]

“The Quest & Enlightenment” is the first book & an introduction to the “Wings of The Phoenix” series…

In the beginning, the seeker makes a stock of the “forms” and “symbols” she/he loves, when embarking on the journey… However; when walking toward the “Formless”, all forms fall out of her/his hands… Without her/him noticing it…

Introduction

Today, the number of people who ‘question’ to comprehend the ‘truths behind the seen’, to reach ‘real answers’ concerning the ‘existence’ and to learn the ‘knowledge & wisdom’ that is at the essence of all religions & teachings, is rapidly increasing. One of the reasons of this is that the people, who have been taken advantage because of the ‘blind faith’, made slave to other human beings and imprisoned to ‘formalism’ under the guise of being religious, have decided to use their own ‘reason’ and to start ‘questioning’, after seeing themselves going through bitter experiences and falling into bitter conditions. For “without questioning, the Truth cannot be found”. And the clearest answer delivered to the seeker is the fact that neither prophets nor any enlightened ones could have found “the Truth” without going through this “questioning” & “leaving all the rituals behind”…

The biggest gaps in the area of “path of enlightenment” is the number of books written on how to ‘integrate’ this wisdom with mundane living though anyone can obtain simple and plain answers about this vast and profound area…

Though there exists books which expand on the concepts of these paths from every point of view & delving into its delicate nuances to cover the path from an all-encompassing angle; panoramic perspectives to satisfy those who’d like to throw a glance to the vast ocean from a shore, to get an idea about the essentials, are rare. This situation is somehow justified as no book or teaching can benefit those who are not serious in their intentions. It is known in this path that for the knowledge to “enflesh” in the seeker, labour is required. For this reason, “the path of enlightenment” tests those candidates of knowledge with thick volumes. And does not allow anyone else other than those with serious interest to pass this exam…

But it is true that every age has its own dynamics. In ages where deceptive knowledge builds walls before people due to intensity of the flow of information, it is a fact that even the most serious and most sincere in their intentions can lose their paths. In such situations, it carries vital importance for the seeker to comprehend what “Sufism” is, at its core, what s/he should devote attention to as he treads the path as well as the qualities in a person who can render him/her of great service to this path. It is a sad truth that many lives have been wasted for the sole reason of the absence of knowledge of these points. For this reason, for those who are sincere, it is vital to reach truthful information…

Neither beards nor age is a sign of wisdom. Neither lines recited, nor interesting stories. Outer appearances are usually deceiving. The indicator of wisdom is that it brings the seeker, every time, more close to that ‘holistic understanding’ while transforming him and bringing him to purity… If the seeker doesn’t have any information to be able to understand this, illusions will be what he ends up chasing often…

This book is written to present the necessary information about the encompassing “The Mind in the Path of Enlightenment” that rests at the “root of all religions & paths” while providing the seeker with the necessary interior understanding for her/him to be able to identify perfection beneath every image and to escape the influence of shallow ones…

Just like the seed holds within it the entire tree, a symbolic narration can carry the entire journey within it. But just like the seed would need the proper conditions, time and labour to become a tree, the same is necessary for these meanings to blossom…

Since the symbolism of “seed-tree-seed” is one of the most ‘capable’ and most ‘profound’ symbolism used on this path (the source-the existence-the human being); to communicate such a narration and then to expand on the processes and concepts associated with them would be the most suitable to the spirit of the path…

Part I

The “Deadly Routine”

The seed, though it is within every fruit, has to fall on soil and then sprout and blossom in proper conditions so that it can rediscover itself as a tree, to be able to arrive at its destination (the end goal of creation, its flowering). Undoubtedly, during this process, the ‘outer shell’ has to be replaced with the ‘self-revealing expression of the innermost essence’ it has protected…

However many fruits rot on the soil they fall. Some are eaten by animals and some, by the landowners… A part of them turn into fertilizer when being sold in the market, and some fertilize the soil of the tree they fell from… A sapling cannot grow under the shadow of the tree that gave birth to it, let alone flourishing next to it… It is subtler and more complicated than it appears to be, a seed becoming the tree that is encoded within it, passing through the bridge that stretches before it, sharper than sword and thinner than a single strand of hair…

The start of a “search” in a humanoid (the one who is away from being mature, with an unripe interior even though appearing to be “human” on the exterior. Bereft of knowledge and understanding concerning the fundamentals and meaning of its own existence) corresponds to the ‘sprouting period of the seed’. Even though all humanoids share the same potential, this “questioning” cannot be without the realms the people pass through, the accumulations they bequeath and the dynamics of the lives they lead intersect to provide this opportunity…

In a life where the “questioning” is yet to emerge, all investments will be made –naturally– for the “outer shell…Even though the “shell” exists to preserve the “essence” it holds, to lay groundwork for its ‘blossoming’ and, in due time, to slip in order to ‘liberate the essence’ it preserved; it often doesn’t liberate it to let it prosper. This ‘over-protectiveness’ ends up with the “essence” rotting slowly, along with the “shell” that preserves it…

The shell (ego) isn’t aware what is “trusted” to it… The discovery of “what has been trusted” can only be possible with the humankind following the “rope” whose one end is in “its hands”, to the “Roots of Existence”… But as the shell is so cruel and ignorant, this may not be that easy… This ignorance and eventual cruelty of the humanoid is unto him/her own self (“itself”, as far as the ‘shell’ is concerned), first and foremost… The humanoid, who burns himself with the wood he himself carries every time, punishes himself every day, every second; leaving no need for a pyre to be burnt in hell… The Sufi tradition describes this particular human behaviour (accusing others for all the continuous troubles borne out of his own habits and approaches while not thinking of questioning “the self” and what he deems right) as “sealed in the eyes and the ears”. Without these seals “lift off”, he would not be able to behold, nor to identify “what he saw” and neither to comprehend words that pertain to his own truth… Even if this particular person can share a house with the Master of Masters; he cannot know him, neither he can answer to the continuous invitation extended to him through a “whisper from his soul” (what is expressed in silence and in absence of words through the mode of the being’s existence in that moment)

This type of reasoning, which exists in a state of “deep slumber” that is bereft of any questioning about “its own truth”, and which is the most common on earth is named the “Worldly Mind” (reason oriented toward matter) in the enlightenment traditions…

The being has gone through several ordeals, has passed countless difficult stages and eventually has been blessed with the potential (seed) of “becoming human” into the world of humanity which distinguished it from other beings through its “awareness of being aware”, a quality coveted by many beings but bestowed to only a few… However, since the “Worldly Mind” has no orientation to realize this “potential”, the being will find itself attracted by the colours and the centres of attraction of the human realm, will sacrifice for them and invest only in that realm. Choosing to spend its energy on the body and corporal pleasures, nourishing the “shell of the seed” instead of the “seed” and refraining from engaging in a “questioning”, the “human being” within him will remain a “potential” and would even turn over without “even being born” (remains not manifest)… The continuity of the ‘investments’ and ‘reinforcements’ made to the “shell” will render it, at some point in the duration of his life, impossible to be broken by the “essence”… This is what they call “stepping into the age of forty”… This symbolic communication indicates that just like the human being becomes incapable of being physically instructed on some sports, his self would become equally difficult to be “transformed” and “purified”, having lost its “flexibility” after a certain stage in the process of “hardening of the self”…

Some step into their (symbolic age of) forty in 30, some in 40, some in 60… Some are born into their age of forty, some never see that age… “Being forty”, in that sense, means “becoming sour in spirit”… After this stage, any approach or information concerning his “own existence” would appear as a “sourness” on his face, would bore and repel him/her. This is why they say “you cannot make wine from vinegar” .

For this reason, they say “The masters don’t issue invitation with words” , there is no “open invitation” in most of the enlightenment traditions. This would be a willing intervention to the “natural flow” of the process and the “free will” of the individual. And it would also indicate that the “inviter” would still have an ego oriented attitude. But it should not be forgotten that there can be exceptions and unique situations).

For this reason they say “The masters have abandoned the dead lift” , they are replaced by “desires and goals for the hereafter”. The new desires and goals are composed of “calculations and plans for hereafter” and “having a spiritual goal and inviting people to join”. But, when maturity sets in, the one understands that they too are “plays of the ego”. To achieve purity, maturity and innocence, one has to leave behind these “desires and wishes” as well as the “will to teach” itself. For this reason, on this path, no master says “come” to those who leave and “go” to those who come).

For this reason, they say “The masters have nothing to sell to anyone” (for those who are “enlightened”, making calls to anyone, including family members or those in their immediate surroundings, or to “guide without being asked” for guidance are out of question).

As those who are a bit more sensitive on the inside may sometimes complain “Where are Rumi and Yunus (the renowned Anatolian enlightened masters) today?”… They might well have told the same thing to Yunus and Rumi themselves, just like they do today… The garments have changed, the age has changed but their “vibrations” has remained (this can only be understood in the course of an experience. But in general terms, it indicates the master’s inner world at that given moment, encompassing the One’s spiritual scent, modus vivendi which can be experienced through a relationship with a master from the same tradition). “Keeping track of history and time” yet “missing what is next to you; this is eternal and ancient…

On the other hand, the “laws of creation” are perfectly at work… This “mechanism” doesn’t grant admission to the human being, who is a being created to “know, comprehend and be”, until he truly decides to take a step on the path for which he is created to walk… And it communicates him that it doesn’t admission that knowing through an “anxiety” that accompanies the human being’s life “continuously”… This “anxiety” is such a thing that it had been accepted as “a norm of mundane life” and people deduced that its reason is “staying idle”. But in truth, its reason is not “staying idle” but “not being able to be left alone with one’s own self even for a moment”… For this reason, it is also “not pausing for a moment & breathe”… This pleases no one: Accepting s/he has a monkey that always keeps jumping from tree to tree within, even though it has less hair and a more erect posture… That monkey is yet to descend from the tree… And it has no intention to do so easily…

While the sickness of this individual who was taught to accept “existential ennui” as a fact grows, s/he is also instructed to “repress” these feelings with the “pills” prescribed as a “symptomatic cure” (treatments and remedies intended to –temporarily– prevent the feeling of ‘anxieties and troubles’ of an ailment or illness, instead of identifying its source. In the course of this process, the ailment prevails but the symptoms are prevented or diminished temporarily _][_– as long as the pills are taken) and to become “addicted” to these pills for the duration of her/his life… These pills can be hobbies, sometimes excursions, sometimes holidays and sometimes addictions to food and drink… Though they are not evil per se, if they are indulged in to repress that anxiety, they turn into “anti-depressants”… When the time comes where these psychological (or virtual) anti-depressants cannot suffice to repress the angst, the person is told that the time has come to be prescribed “real pills”…

But, in order to better serve the spinning cogwheels, humanoids need to be kept “ignorant” of their own truth, keep running in order to take the pills and serve to spin the wheels… All the more, the humanoid should mistakenly believe that he is “free” so that ideas such as “escaping the wheel”, “transforming his life” or “evolving” should not cross even the farthest corner of his mind…

He doesn’t ponder on the “subtle message” the existence tries to communicate to him, even though he experiences that whatever he buys or makes a palace out of, in pursuit of the dictum “more is better” is not added to his life with the “glitter they display on the showcases” or the “glitter they have in his dreams”… Instead, he opts for building his life on “momentary satisfactions” he will obtain when he is delivered the “trash of tomorrow” from today and chooses to forget his inner insatiateness this way. But who chooses this option should learn to not to complain living the “life of a workhorse” wasting its life to get the “carrots” tied to a stick by “its owner”, who feels free only when he can eat the carrots…

Part II

The “Quest”

The sprouting of the seed can sometimes begin with a “sudden and startling event” that urges him to contemplate when he was running amok in pursuit of his goals… Sometimes, the individual who always possessed that intuition within, may choose to build a new life on the direction this fresh understanding indicates, understanding that he asked the questions that mattered “only when he was a child” and he was stuck as an adult… Sometimes, carrying this intuition since his birth, he can dedicate his life growing a tree out of a seed, taking advantage of the tiniest of opportunities in that way… But in the end, there is the time factor: “The time must be due”. If the time is yet to come –even though all other conditions are ripe– the human being cannot find the “willpower” to take a step in that direction, even despite his lasting and growing ennui… The pills that he knows, he trusts, will always look “more attractive” to him…

But the important truth about the pills are that they are bound to lose their effect with time. As the pills lose their effect, the growing ennui will become audible again. Only a “more powerful” pill can save our protagonist from that… If he had taken two somersaults on a motorcycle, he should try taking a third… If he had travelled to all touristic destinations, now he should visit the war zones… If he doesn’t feel well with one pill, he should double the dose… And of course, on coloured screens, the addiction to do “more” is served as if it is a “success”… While kids are sent to beds after watching “Before Sleep”, parents are catered “Eternal Sleep” and “Lauds to Sleep” under different names… “Slavery” has become “freedom” and “jumping from a tree to another” has become “dynamism”…

Almost all individuals who are blessed with all the material goods the world can offer opt for an almost “suicidal” or totally “sedated” life and this fact shows “how far you can go with pills”… But those who look at those lives from the “outside” cannot even imagine how “full of trouble”, how “dark” and “depressive” those lives can be; striving to build those lives which they mistakenly believe to be “paradise”, they turn their own lives into “hell” and waste their energies to reach a “dead end”…

The unhappiness that they suffer from having not arrived at the destination prevails until they hit the target and turns the path itself into a “trouble in itself”; while those who reach their goal are awaited by another surprise: “Nothing has changed”… This is what they say “lose-lose”… The first “lose” is the price of living a “goal-oriented life” and hence losing sight of the pleasures of life; the other “lose” is the question “What now?” asked right after the brief intoxication of having reached the destination… Actually, it’s not true that “nothing has changed”. Now, nothing has changed except the fact that “there is left no place to hide” and there is a “growing ennui”…

Part III

The “Path”

The individual who has given ear to the doubtless message that is communicated to him from his own personal depths, who felt something has been missing, doesn’t only behold these dynamics of life but also comprehends that no real relief or unwinding could be possible for anyone before dealing with this inner problem… That “existential ennui” would prevail until it finds its home, in the form of an intuition that everything is “meaningless” and essentially “in vain” in the absence of a “genuine answer” to the question of what this mortal life is all about…

It is said that not even a single step toward the true Kiblah (direction, orientation toward a direction) of an individual could be wasted… Each step unravels a “knot” that is a source to negative behaviour, healing it, while the “expansion of understanding” will bring a growth of “tranquillity” and “satisfaction”; the inner firmament will be enlightened more and more with every bit of understanding realized… Every moment his understanding expands and his spirituality deepens, the “Being” that hides behind those eyes will add to its beauty and what he beholds with those eyes will transform… Only at that moment, he will comprehend what it is to “breathe”… After cherishing the refreshment of this “breath”, he will wonder how he could live without being able to breath and will start to behold the “darkness” of that realm (conditions which pervaded him as well as others in the past) which he could “observe from without” for the first time in his life from… Like a person going out of the door for the first time and looking at the “cage” he escaped, after living in a house kept dark with curtains, unaware of the sun… Or like a baby who “resisted” to be born yet immersed in wonder after being born into the world and being unable to imagine his “former existence” in the womb… The seeker will look at that “dark and small prison cell” and will start treading the path that stretches before him…

The mind of the individual who has embarked on a search for truth and who decides to walk that path –the mind that has begun to return to its roots– is called “Seeker’s Mind”; the mind that is oriented toward the “meaning”, the “self”, the “Source (Roots) of Existence” & “enlightenment”. This mind functions to nourish the “human” seed that is within the humanoid. Its function starts with the “seeker’s attitude”; “self-observation” & “questioning” (the self which awakens the conscience, which starts to be aware of its actions, which can self-criticize, feel regret and denounce itself). The helm of the body, who is organized to be able to give birth to the comprehension that can cover all the realms but is led by a “child” who hurts and wastes it crashing around, is now given to a “captain” whose eyes are on “maturity”… The eventual goal of this captain is to elevate the performance of this fabulous machine to make sure the seeker returns home…

After a while, he will understand that the ennui that accompanied him since the beginning, the ennui that made him take this path was the pangs of the “human being” trying to be born, yet suffocated constantly. And it was the only “life buoy” that was thrown to him in that sea about whose existence he knows next to nothing…

Paths of enlightenment, esoteric traditions (the inner traditions and paths that focus on the human being’s journey into its roots), teachings of wisdom (the inner traditions and paths that focus on the application of knowledge onto life and the transformation of it into a living), teachings of the self, religions, the history of thought & philosophy, the perennial (existing for such a long time, ancient that it is not possible to obtain information about its origins) values of humanity that found “expression”, “meanings” and “other degrees of reasoning” are the fruits of a journey taken to arrive at the final destination of “Seeker’s Mind”…

(The End of 1st Book)

You may read the first part of “Wings of The Phoenix”, the second book of the series below…

About “Wings of The Phoenix”

“They did not give you the opportunity to be yourself…

And you refrained from being yourself, your entire life…

The traditions, customs, beliefs, habits, obsessions and taboos lived through you; but only ‘you’ yourself, did not…

Isn’t it the moment to break free?[
**]Isn’t it the time to born anew from your ashes?”

[***
**
“Wings of the Phoenix” is the first book of a series that treats wisdom, mind yoga, meditation, enlightenment, sacred teachings, root of all religions, Sufism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Zen, Shamanism, philosophical doctrines, spirituality, new age & self-development from an inter-disciplinary perspective, explaining the core teaching that is at the heart of all while providing a map of the path that leads the individuals, who are in search of their own truth, to their deepest roots…
**
***
**
“Wings of the Phoenix” is the narrative of an individual who –just like everyone he knows– was, at the end of an unquestioned life, to depart from the earth without having arrived at any satisfying answer about his own existence and the greater creation, yet who enters through a “gate” that becomes visible to him after he starts questioning himself and the world, while this mysterious journey he embarks on, transforming his whole existence…
**
The elusive dialogue about existence, life, death, the meaning, religions, philosophies, enlightenment, the human being and the Truth that underlies all, enwraps the reader within the characteristic atmosphere of the existential teaching –which gave birth to Rumi and Yunus Emre– to reach profound depths while the identity of “The One”, the answering end of the dialogue which transcends space and time, remains a mystery that awaits to be unveiled by none other than the reader…]

“First ‘The One’ takes your shape…[[
]]Then ‘The One’ strips you off your own shape…”

He woke with this unfathomable echo ringing in his ears…[
**]It was dark outside.

The stillness of the moment, where all voices withdrew into their cavities, reminded him of the eternal emptiness the earth, on which he dwells in, journeyed in… As the world showed him its visage, through a perception he never experienced before, “something” he has forgotten long ago, touched his soul… In that split second, his heart is filled with a yearning that caresses those who wander away from their homes for long… The tears he shed belonged to a soul alien to the world he inhabits and knows…

A little later, how many minutes he could not say, he laid his head on the pillow again… Morning, when he wakes up, he won’t be able to remember any of these… Just like the moment he was born where he had forgotten everything about his ‘Own Self’…[
**]

Years passed after that particular night…

The blue-green globe he inhabited travelled around its sun several times… Its inhabitants kept on turning around their self-made circles, just like the globe itself… Some falling, some standing… Some laughing, some crying…

The globe had its own secrets…

The most well-known of them was its “awakening the seeds in due time”…

Another, but less known one was that it did not awaken only the seeds of the plants…

When time comes, the globe is known to do whatever necessary for the ripened seeds to crack…

No questions it used to ask, neither any permissions…

No notice or any warning, it issued…

When time is ripe, it used to make them fall in “Love”…

“Love” served as a compass that lead to the “gate” no map had displayed…

“Everything” had started behind that “gate”…

And each and every being was looking for “The One”, knowingly or not…

That “beginning”, it was so that without it, nothing could have any meaning… As the uprooted flowers trying to survive in vain; how far could one go, without the company of the roots that are left behind?

I

THE GATE

- After their make-up springs come to an end, people’s leaves shed… For they do not know how to bloom flowers, they try to gather withered leaves from the ground and paste them on their branches, one by one. Though they catch a breeze of good feeling for a short while, every time they do this, deep inside, they remain aware of the vanity of their efforts…

- …

– Billions of years in the universe of globes… Hurling from one realm to another, each time… Each time, when you feel you are about to succeed, the dream collapses… When you have forgotten how to draw a breath, the rhythm stutters… Then, your eyes fixes on the mystery of the fall that breathes beneath falling leaves… That sorrow holds your hand and takes you, like a parent, right at the door of ‘The One’ you are looking for…

[You have found, at last…
Welcome…]

- Thank you…

- ‘Reading’ and ‘comprehending’ are two different things… ‘Looking’ and ‘knowing’ are two different things… ‘Finding the path’ is something but ‘walking the path’ is something else… The seeker often does not know what to do in the beginning… But at least, a few words has to come from his mouth to explain the trouble that haunts him… Tell us, then, what do you want from us? (Writer’s Note: The phrase ‘us’ refers to the “Whole Being” (instead of a crowd) in enlightenment traditions. The One’ in this case is the dwelling of ‘The Whole’ in a particular body, not an individual, who would voice nothing but the words of the law of existence in response to questions)

- To remember…

- Have you eaten your fill of wheat? (Writer’s Note: The word “wheat” refers to “Yunus Emre”, an Anatolian peasant, who travels a long distance to get wheat for his suffering village. The master of the temple offers him “the wisdom” instead of “wheat” (3 times) but he refuses each of them because of the urgency of the situation. Then the master orders triple times of the needed wheat is given to him. He thanks & leaves. But then he realizes what he ignored & missed. He turns back and embarks on his quest for wisdom & enlightenment… Today, Yunus Emre is canonized and revered as one of the greatest enlightened masters in Anatolia. His life story & impressive poems serve as sources of inspiration for millions of people)

- …

- Regardless of the amount eaten, it offers no balm for one’s hunger, does it? Purportedly they may know what will happen every time, nevertheless, their mind remains fixed there… Those who sold their lives for cheap, in exchange for objects that will end in trash, those who fell for the trick, can get nothing more than a finger full of honey, in the end… Don’t be deceived by the exterior look… For those who do not hear the gnashing of teeth that come with it, they are rewards to be chased endlessly… But for those who do ‘hear’, they are not more than a pile of empty gift-wraps that can only be ignored… The loudest gnashing of teeth comes right before the last moment of one’s life, just before their eyelids fall… Even though under golden domes, the human being feels the hunger of his first day on earth… Even if an entire life passes after the moment of the enflaming of the ‘very first desire’; isn’t it that unchanged, unsatisfied ‘hunger’ that truly serves as the scale of the distance covered or the stasis enjoyed on the path?

Expecting ‘the keeper of the barn’ to produce a wheat that will fill the stomach forever, would be a naive wish, even on the part of children; nevertheless, the entire human family founds their finite lives on this very promise…

- Just like a theatre where the curtain never drops…

- And you… Are you bored of playing these ‘never ending games’? The colours of the toys that breed firm attachments in others, don’t they fascinate you anymore? Have you grown aware of the ‘end of the movie’ and started to see, from this moment, the withered states of those which glow in the most vivid of colours now? Tell us… What it is you want, for real?

- I want to understand everything… My own existence and who I really am… ‘Where am I coming from’ and ‘where am I headed to’… The system of creation… Its working principles… And more important than the ‘how’, the ‘why’… Is it possible? Does such a possibility really exist?

- They say even for God, it took six days to create the universe…

A short while after that tryst, he could not help going there again…

At the first opportunity, he found the means to go there again…

- What am I supposed to do?

- “What are you supposed to do?” in a land where “doing” is not the currency?

- They tell things so different everywhere… And almost all of them are about “doing”…

- If “all of them are about doing”, then what makes them different from each other, basically? Are they really different, in essence? Changing your painting technique, or developing it continuously, only to arrive at a ‘white page’… Do you think this could be a meaningful thing to do? Tell me, which drawing technique can be pure enough to arrive at a ‘blank white page’?

- …

- Only the ones who are not satisfied with what you mentioned, can arrive at this gate… The scent of this place only attracts those who suffer from that affliction… It repels the ones who do not dare to ask the ‘right questions’… It repels those who are not ready to destroy their ‘own idols’ & face their ‘own lies’… It repels whose are addicted playing with their ‘spiritual toys’… Even if they seem to desire the Truth on the surface, their feet go back… Obstacles block their path… These obstacles are filters which provide them excuses at each turn, for them to go back… Those without the ‘sufficient sincerity’ and ‘will’, get stuck at these filters… And after a while, they forget about ‘the path’…

Each temple requires a different ‘cleansing’… Those who did not cleanse themselves for here, those who are not pure enough to enter here, cannot set foot in this temple… And those who purified themselves and entered, are expected to continue that purification, for their own good…

- I can understand as far as my comprehension reaches… But I am too foreign to these concepts & symbols… I feel that my comprehension will fail… What can I do about this?

- Each patient requires a different medicine… Another’s cure cannot make you well… Your remedy can strike another down… The history of mankind is full of lives wasted on the illusion of “someone’s cure can and should redeem everyone”… The same thing also applies to the path you intend to walk… If we are to walk, then we will take ‘the most fitting path for you’…

- How?

- Every time you visit here, you will return with ‘a story that carries the keys to the answers of your questions’… Stories are the tenderest way to learn to read ‘the symbols’… Between the lines, they hide gifts everyone can cherish, according to their own understanding… For this reason, they are welcoming to almost everyone… They come comfortable at first, but don’t forget: They are not as tender as they seem… Only after that comfort dissolves, you find yourself solving the meaning of the story; not before… If you read and let go, you bury not only a story underground, but also the answers that comes with it… You’ll behold that things are stressed over and over in them… Remember that none of these are random… And, remember that no emphasis is repeated for its own sake… Completing a new piece each turn, the function of what you thought (a repeating) will change, too…

- Wouldn’t it be more lucid & immune to misunderstandings; if straight answers were given?

- Here, answers are seldom straight… They are often given as ‘seeds’… You being told the right and wrong, you abiding by these rules, are neither preferred nor valuable here… There are enough ideologies, institutions and spiritual schools out there, doing exactly this… Here, on the other hand, is ‘none of them’…

- Is it wrong for me to continue my other readings, in addition to the stories?

- For those with serious intention, your question points at a vital subject… When your self makes a habit out of gathering knowledge, this would turn this invaluable process upside down… It’ll turn it into a ‘toy of distraction’! For this reason, even though you continue your readings, the importance of paying attention to the fine line between ‘functional readings’ and ‘readings that began to serve as a means to postpone walking the path’ is beyond words…

During this process, it is essential to understand what you read, to contemplate on them, to deepen on certain concepts for the ‘meanings’ to open to you, instead of muddling your mind with ‘unnecessary knowledge’… If it is ‘water’ you seek, your aim is not to have a thousand dry wells; but to dig the earth until you find water, in that single well you have… Let the rest of the world confuse ‘perplexity’ with ‘wealth’… ‘Wisdom’ is not ‘toiling and slaving for a burden of knowledge’, but ‘embodying the knowledge absorbed’… ‘Devouring a thousand tomes’ means nothing compared to the ability to change a habit, or a facet of yourself to aid you on the path, in other words, taking necessary action on one sentence… If you are not able to absorb, the tomes you pored over and threw away makes you an ‘obese of knowledge’, not ‘a wise man’… If this was not true, it would be sufficient to mix all the ingredients in the world to come up with the best dish, isn’t it so?

- What is the essential difference between ‘stories’ and ‘direct transmission of knowledge’?

- The difference of ‘stories’ from ‘unmediated knowledge’ is that, they make their listener a part of their content… First they trigger a novel mechanism: ‘Discovery’… They hide subtleties, connotations, symbols… However if you do not open and discover these meanings within them yourself, they do not have much value… If you really want to embark on a real journey, it is essential to make the journey ‘your own’… Stories allow you to walk your own path and expand… We play our part as a fellow and “whisper” the necessary pieces “when needed”… But we do not intervene in the process… We hand your own responsibility to you, acknowledge and accept you possessing that level of maturity…

- So… Isn’t there any rules?

- No, there isn’t.

- …?

- If you, and no other, are the one to reap what you sow; why should we need rules? Schools, paths, ideologies that address their adherents as children (with regards to the level of consciousness) of course require rules, forms, templates; and this is appropriate to address that level of consciousness… Sometimes we speak the same language to those who stray from their paths and arrive here untimely… But we do not hold these souls who have gone through them, those who aim for virtue, back from the path of carrying their own responsibility and becoming free…

Each cause leads to an outcome… The law of gravity applies to everything and if you want to jump from the roof, you are free to do that… But you are the one to experience the consequences of your action, according to the particular law… Same dynamics apply to most abstract of fields… In these subtle realms, the ‘cause’ that will lead to a ‘consequence’ is sometimes ‘a thought’, sometimes ‘an attitude’… Sometimes it is ‘a word’, sometimes it is ‘a facial expression’… A propriety, a discipline, patience and (most important of all) ‘will’ is necessary to open a meaning, to give birth to an awareness, for a transformation of a state and to start an inner evolution… If these are absent, the gates that might lead to them stay closed…

We do not intervene slightest, if you want to leave everything behind and lose yourself in the ‘wheat barn’… If you decide to find us again, you may find everything here as you left, but what you have lost in the wheat barn will not be with you anymore…

In short; no, my friend… These ‘sempiternal laws’ do not spare even a particle and here, there is no rule that is set recently and doomed to vanish one day… That’s why “the path with no rules other than the eternal ones”, exists forever; while each form, each method, each pattern are destined to get old, to fail to respond to the needs and to disappear in a universe that constantly evolves; “the path” prevails… This place is built on the ‘exact same dynamics that hold the creation’… Your relationship with these dynamics determine the quality of your own life and the meaning you find, not another’s… You establish this relationship and experience it according to whatever you deem yourself worthy of…

There is no distinction between ‘what you do outside’ and ‘what you do inside’… It is of your ingenuity to shine the same quality you carry here, outside… What you call ‘outside’ is not a place distinct from here… This place provides, to what you accept as ‘inside’, a concentrated, summarized form of the ‘entire outside’… Similarly, time here is concentrated as well… A moment spent here sometimes equals a thousand years spent outside… A single glance, a single facial expression, a single word sometimes solves the knots which are impossible to be solved on their own in a thousand lifetimes… What is lived, experienced, felt and spoken here is all through the flow of ‘that law’… Each of them has an equivalent ‘outside’… Because within Truth, there is no ‘outside’ as you know it…

- I could not even conceive ‘such a path’ could exist… Without rituals, without protocols, without limits… I have always been confronted by a name, a form, a template… I haven’t heard even the word of an understanding, throughout my life, which can approach what is spoken here…

- This gate opens to those who discover it… Here, ‘the invitation’ is merely a ‘whisper’ that does not even leave the lips, at most… We are not seen by the passers-by… We do not run advertisements… We do not hold signs… We do not promote ourselves… We do not call anyone… If these subjects are spoken right next to us in everyday life, we do not utter a single word… If they see us in their dreams, we laugh off… We do not unveil ourselves to those whose seeds did not sprout & whose time has not come… Everyone regards, but few acknowledges… And we watch those who do not acknowledge walk away asking “Where? Where?”… Some of them, like yourself, walk through the door and know us; some of them live next to us for forty years, stay in the same house & may not recognize…

What is trusted to us & what we took over, is invaluable… It cannot be trusted to those who cannot treasure it… Those who arrive at this gate have nothing to give to us, material or immaterial, other than their sincerity, propriety and their labour… Thus, they do not have anything to sell to us, neither anything they can take from us without merit… Truth; it is neither a cheap thing to be bought, nor a small thing to be sold…

In the outer world; our veil does not betray our self to those, whether they be our friends, our parents, our siblings or our offspring, if they do not call us, look for us, labour for us… To their eyes, we are even more invisible, as they are used to seeing these body-suits with the same labels… So many of those who arrive at this gate tell themselves quietly “I wish it was a family member”… But a family is made up of people who can see the insides of each other… A family is those souls who can find each other, albeit under different faces and in different bodies, each time, in eternity, regardless of how separated they might be, from each other…

- These words…

- These words, though they sound very attractive to everyone who hear them; most of them want to see the patterns, to hear the words, to sing the songs they are used to, after a while, as they progress on the path… And a time comes, they themselves demand setting of rules, of prohibitions, drawing of limits… When it is impossible to learn even life itself taking courses, trying to learn about its source through these methods, what is it if not vain?

They want to reunite with “The One”, but without taking the necessary steps…

[They want to see the sky, but without leaving their huts…
What do you think? Will “The One” step in, some day?]

If he could combine all the conversations & all the talks he had with everyone he knew together, they wouldn’t amount more than a drop of water compared to what he absorbed that day… His head was spinning because of the intensity of the dialogue… He was almost inebriated… He did not notice the passing of time, the falling of night… Neither thirst, nor hunger visited him during those hours, they waited for the “word” to be completed…

He took a lengthy walk full of a spiritual pleasure and a tranquillity he never have tasted before… He contemplated on the invaluable words he heard and the wisdom in them…

When he arrived home, he lied on his bed and kept on contemplating… The world he lived in seemed unlike the world he knew in the past… Some of the things have changed… He could not know yet; but things have changed…

The words, which bewildered him as much as made him forgetful of the ‘space and time’ ended thus: “Everything you did knowingly or unknowingly has a consequence and a response within you, as much as it has without you… Since your discernment has awaken to a degree to bring you to this “Nameless Gate”, for you to find the “Nameless One”; you can hear if you listen to more attentively, that it is whispering you “everything you knew before has left outside that door”…

In the absence of those ‘forms and patterns’, one feels strange; as he is inherently unaware of ‘learning in the absence of them’… How strange it is that, real learning can only occur in their absence… And this is not the only thing the seeker is left unaware of: As he approaches what he is seeking for, things will not get less strange…

- Tell me, what did you bring today, from your world?

- Whenever I think about the history of mankind; it comes strange, all the things that happened… Unending wars, a constant ambition, a constant absence of consciousness…

- When you look within yourself, can you say that the wars, the conflicts, the ambitions, the dilemmas within you have already extinguished? Can you even say that they are “about to be done?”

- …

- Even though you are against war today, don’t forget that you are a ‘potential man of war’ as long as you do not embrace total peace within yourself! The potential rage within you is ready to be unleashed upon a slight provocation… This is the reason that many claim to lead a life ‘respectful of nature’ while they are ‘irreverent even in their relationships’ with their close ones… Though many of them are ‘against war’, they live ‘a state of constant war’ in the company of the tensions they harbour… Some ‘stand against animal cruelty’ yet somehow ‘do not hesitate to offend people’ in their close circle, to indulge in sudden & impulsive reactions, in short to inflict the very torture they try to save animals from, on their immediate surroundings, in some other level… Others ‘stand against the destruction of the environment’ but do not refrain from ‘terrorizing their immediate relationships’… Some are ‘against the waste of natural energy’ while they remain unaware of ‘wasting their life energy’ through enforcing their will on their closest ones… Another one ‘visits the Ascended Masters’, keeps on absorbing peace there but ‘does not put effort to work’ on the self to create that peace within and to walk the path pointed at by them…

If you look at the close relationships and lives of those who talk about peace, love, fraternity and bliss; you’ll see in many of them a latent tendency for war, for an absence of love, an absence of peace and spiritual terror… Aren’t all of them kings in their own body-lands? Tell me, which one of them could put an end to their own wars in the “lands of their flesh” they single-handedly reign? If you know one who succeeded in doing that, bring that soul here for us to glorify him or her…

The first requisite of a patient’s recovery is his ‘acknowledging the state of ailment’… This is not a place for the egocentric dreams and plays of those who boast their sickness, take their inner turmoil as signs of attitude and constantly criticize their surroundings while staying unaware of own homes in ruins…

It is not for nothing that ‘lie’ is regarded as the ‘mother of all sins’… By ‘lie’, we do not mean the lies that are told knowingly… By ‘lie’, we mean a state of slumber that sedates the masses who are no longer aware of the conflict between their words and deeds, due to their own continuous insincerity-unto-their own selves, as a natural result of backing away from facing their own fraud…

As the world is full of those who use the words of the saints to feed their selves, while not even taking a single step on the path they walked; the paths that are overcrowded will indeed be the ones that appeal to the likes of them: For the human being wishes ‘not an awakening’ but ‘to continue to sleep’… For this reason, they usually expect to listen to ‘lullabies’, at most, as words of Truth… Whenever the boundaries of their expectation is crossed, they will resist and push back the hand offered to them…

Here is the “Gate of the Truth”…

This is the place where all “lullabies” end…

The Quest & Enlightenment: Understanding "The State of Mind" to Spirituality, Me

And subsequently, it is necessary to arrive at the ‘gate’ pointed by the compass, to be ‘forged within that experience’ and to go through a genuine ‘transformation’... The absence of one of these processes leaves the seeker with only “one wing”, crawling on the ground instead of gliding freely in the skies. They may think that they are covering a distance when struggling on the ground, as they clap their wings… “Wings of the Phoenix”, the book series that is born out of a journey which lasted more than 20 years and included this quest, experiences and processes, is written to transmit the essence distilled from them and to make comprehend -from an interdisciplinary perspective- “the Truth” that centres all… “The Quest & Enlightenment” is the first book & an introduction to the “Wings of The Phoenix” series. It is written to present the necessary information about the encompassing “The Mind in the Path of Enlightenment” that rests at the “root of all religions & paths” while providing the seeker with the necessary interior understanding for her/him to be able to identify perfection beneath every image and to escape the influence of shallow ones…
