[] DEDICATION

To the Holy Spirit who reveals truths and inspires me to put them in writing. Also, to you, the reader, may you receive everything that has been given you by virtue of the finished work of Christ, and may you live the victorious life in Christ.

[][] CHAPTER ONE

Our fight

We are at war, and yet, we are not at war. The Christian has only one enemy, the devil. We are not at war because the devil has been defeated by Jesus Christ, and the victory given to us. The only fight left for us to fight, is the fight of faith. In 1Timothy 6:12, the apostle Paul wrote to timothy, Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

The question is what is the good fight of faith that the Christian is supposed to be engaged in?

The birth, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ did not only allow for the remission of sins, a new race of beings with a new type of life was brought into existence as a result. This new race in 2Corinthians 5:17 is referred to as the new creature.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

This new man, has Eternal life (Zoe), the indestructible life of God, and therefore is superior to the devil and the kingdom of darkness.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

(1John 5:13)

In 2 Peter 1:3, we see that the Christian has been given everything he will ever need to live a victorious life in Christ.

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Faith is the proof that the believer has indeed received everything he has been given in Christ. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.(Hebrews 11:1)

The fight of faith is recognizing what has been giving to you, by the finished work of Christ, accepting, and holding on to it in spite of what you can see, feel, or hear.

The Christians fight of faith begins the day he gives his life to Christ. Suppose a man made his fortune as an armed robber. Perhaps he has even killed in the process. Such a man is then arrested by the Holy Spirit and gives his life to Christ. That man is told, ‘old things are passed away’, ‘behold all things have become new’. He is told ‘You are a new creature, pure and blameless before God’. The man’s appearance has not changed; the man probably murdered someone just a few days before. For such a man, his fight of faith at that point in time is accepting the Truth of what God’s word says about him. Accepting that his slate has been wiped clean, and that indeed he is a new creature. His friends who knew him before may disagree; they might make fun of him, and point accusing fingers at him. But if that man can accept his new nature and walk in this new light, then, he has won his fight.

In most parts of the world, a large number of people believe in generational curses. For example, there are certain families whom believe that they are cursed to die young. Maybe it is out of pure coincident, or the presence of an actual curse, perhaps, it is just their believe manifesting itself, but often times members of such a family always die prematurely. Now, if a member of that family finds Christ, he is no longer subject to premature death. The facts may show otherwise. Such a person might hear the devil whispering, ‘your father died at forty, your mother at forty-one, your brothers and sisters are all dead. You too will die soon’. But if that person can accept the word of God that says ‘you are not of this world’, and realize that they now belong to a new family and walk in that light, they will have won their fight.

These two instances I have drawn up is to clearly point out that the fight which a Christian fights is not a fight against human enemies.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

(Ephesians 6:12)

Now, see at what is written in Colossians 2:15,

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

The devil is already defeated!

In Romans 8:37 a very vital truth is revealed. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

‘More than conquerors’ has a deeper meaning, that most people ever grasp. It means to be beyond the battle line. It means that the battles have already been fought and won.

The Christian is not born into a life of war against the devil rather he is born to discover his victories in Christ. Hallelujah!

The Christian life is a life of constant victories, not defeat. It is a fight of faith. It is appropriating everything that has been given to us. We do this by fighting the good fight of faith, and we fight the good fight by living in the reality of God’s word.

Once you understand that you already have the victory, you realize that, you are not the dammed trying to save yourself, you are the result of salvation, the fruits of the finished work of Christ. You are not the sick trying to be healed; you are the healed discovering divine health. You are not the poor trying to get rich; you are the rich discovering your inheritance. You are not the cursed looking for deliverance, you are the blessed discovering your ability to bless others.

How to recognize these truths, and live by, on and in them is how to fight your fight of faith.

[] CHAPTER TWO

Strong holds, imaginations, & thoughts

Many believers spend so much time chasing after enemies, waging wars against demons. Casting and binding the devil over and over again. They fail to realize, that is not the fight we are called to fight. The man who keeps fighting the devil, casting and binding, or the man who keeps fighting people, is engaged in a non-existent battle. Such a Christian will fight and fight for a very long time.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(2corinthians 10:4-5)

Notice, what our weapons are for; The Scripture does not say ‘(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of demons, enemies, devils, or people’ rather it says ‘strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought’

STRONGHOLDS

Rev, Chris Oyakhilome PhD in his message LIFE IS SPIRITUAL defined strong holds as ‘ideas in your head, theories that you have accepted to keep you from moving in the direction that God wants you to go’.

Strongholds are not what you might think. They are not made of metal or steel. They are preconceived pre-programmed ideas and information that people carry in their head, and mind, and, believe. They are inaccurate or wrong, yet people hold on to them and cannot let them go. Strongholds keep a man from accepting and responding to God’s word.

Strongholds have different origins. Some, from upbringing, the messages received over time. Some Christians all their Christian life have been told, “You are a sinner’, there is none holy, no not one’. No one who is constantly reminded that they are sinners can fully accept the gift of righteousness by faith. Over time, they accept that they are sinners; they become programmed with the consciousness of sin. This becomes a stronghold against their walk with God, and can only be shattered by the truth of God’s word.

For some, their strong hold is argument. They argue with and disagree with the word. They pick which part to believe, and which part not to. Such people say ‘I believe in offerings, but I don’t believe in tithes ‘ ’I believe in praying, but I don’t believe in speaking in tongues’

Because of this stronghold in their life, they miss out on the full benefits of their salvation.

The good news is, no matter the origin of the strong hold, whether from upbringing or the activities of demons it can be pulled down by the word, and fellowship with the Spirit. The word of God is a sword. When you get the word into you, what you are doing is pulling down strongholds, and replacing it with truths. Also, praying in tongues is a sure way to pull down strong holds. The Holy Spirit reveals truths as you pray in the spirit, pulling down every stronghold that has a hold on you.

IMAGINATIONS & THOUGHTS

[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God ;( AMP)

and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

Your imaginations and thoughts if not brought under control will be the spiritual death of you.

Some of us get so educated, so filled with the knowledge, theories, reasoning of this world, that we begin to argue against Spiritual truths. We begin to ask questions from a physical standpoint, forgetting that the believer’s life is by faith, and forgetting that life is spiritual.

Once you begin to argue and resist the word, which is the very weapon you need, then you are like a soldier going to war without a weapon, and cannot fight properly as he should.

Our war includes casting down every proud and lofty thing that exalts itself against the true knowledge of God. Today, ask yourself this question, ‘what is that proud and lofty thing in my life?’

There is something about thoughts and imaginations that most people underestimate and often pay a steep price. Thoughts have a way of growing, and fully possessing a man until they are all he can do.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

(proverbs 23:7)

This means people are product of their thoughts; they are a reflection of the things they think about.

There are thoughts and imaginations a Christian should not entertain even for a second. Any thought that is not consistent with your new life in Christ is a threat to you and your victory in Christ. Thoughts of defeat, of death, of sin, of lack, of disease. No wonder the bible tells the new creation to renew his mind.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

(Romans 12:2)

How do you renew your mind? Philippians 4:8-9 gives us a starting point.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

When two sides go to war, and one side emerge victorious over the other, the defeated side is captured and they become captives. With this in mind, read ‘and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),’

This means every thought, and every intention that has not yet been led captive into the obedience of Christ is your enemy, and your real threat. If you do not capture your thoughts, they will capture you.

You hear reports of children committing all sorts of atrocity, ranging from murder to suicide. How? Imaginations. It started in their minds. They imagine such things, and think of them until these thoughts get a hold of them, and they act it out.

From today let the filter for your thoughts be, ‘is this consistent with my new life in Christ?’

Remember what are weapons of warfare are for. They are for, pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

[] CHAPTER THREE

s

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

(Ephesians 6:11)

Notice that the scripture does not read ‘that ye may be able to stand the devil’, it reads ‘that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil’

The word ‘wiles’ mean tricks. You see, the devil is defeated. The only weapon left in his arsenal is trickery. He tries to obscure and challenge the truth of God’s word in your life. He tries to lure you away from the truth.

Because you are born again does not mean the devil will not work against you. But his tricks will be of no effect in your life if you have your weapons and know how to use them.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

(Ephesians 6:11-17)

Truth

Truth means reality. It means what God has said. When the devil attacks, he tries to tell you something different from what God has said. Remember the devil is a liar.

Never lose sight of the truth of God’s word. Let it always be in your consciousness. This way, you know when the devil is attempting to trick you with lies.

Righteousness

Righteousness enables a man to live rightly and stand without guilt before God. Many Christians try to be righteous by their own effort. Somehow, they think that their good deeds will make them righteous. This is incorrect. Righteousness is a gift from God. And because of the righteousness that we have received, we live rightly.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

(Galatians 2:21)

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

(Romans 5:17)

Gospel of peace

And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.

(Ephesians 6:15 AMP)

Here is how the ESV puts it

and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

A readiness comes with having the gospel. You become quick to respond to the wiles of the devil. Quick to evade his tactics as you stand firm on the gospel.

Faith

Faith is your shield. It does not matter what the enemy throws at you, your faith is proof of your victory. You just know that you have the victory. It does not matter what you are seeing, you refuse to look at the things that are seen, and you refuse to doubt.

As long as you have faith, it does not matter the situation you are facing. You are already victorious

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

(Hebrews 11:1)

Salvation

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

(Romans 10:9)

As Christians, we must always carry the consciousness of our salvation. Salvation here does not only mean salvation from hell. It includes salvation from death, sin, disease, lack, and salvation from every evil in this world.

The word of God.

One sure way to ensure and secure your salvation is by having the word of God in your mouth; By constantly confessing the truths of God’s word.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:10)

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

(Hebrews 4:11)

The word of God produces result when you speak it. Do not ever stop saying what God has said about you.

What you know and are conscious of is what makes all the difference in your fight of faith. Faith is your response to the word of God. Therefore, you must have an accurate knowledge and understanding of God’s word in other to stay victorious.

[] CHAPTER FOUR

In the name of Jesus

‘There is power in the name of Jesus’ is not a cliché that has lost its meaning. At least, it should not be. There really is power in the name of Jesus.

If you know who you are and what you have been given, the devil and his demons cannot afflict you for long. However, this is not the case with many today. Because they lack knowledge, and are not fighting the fight of faith, it appears as though they are no longer new creatures. The devil takes advantage of such Christians appearing to have a great power in their lives. But, this is not true. The devil and his kingdom of darkness have no power where the born-again Christian is concerned.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

(Mathew 28:8)

Notice the words of the master; he says ‘All power’ not ‘some or a few’. All power!

In Romans 1:17-23, we read,

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Notice where Christ is, at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power…’

Now look what the bible says in Ephesians 2: 5-6,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

The amplified gives a clearer description

And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Now, think about it, if you are sitting with Christ, are you also not far above all principality, and power?

Let it sink in; understand it. You are far above the kingdom of darkness, and you have overcome the evil one.

When the devil comes to you, through whatever means or form, and tries to stir up trouble, refuse to fear say ‘I am more than a conqueror’. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.(James 4:7).

In the name of Jesus lies great authority, use it!

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

.

You must learn to use the name of Jesus if you want to resist the devil.

It does not matter how long you have suffered because of ignorance at the hands of the devil, in the name of Jesus every chain is broken, every strong hold that held you bound is shattered.

Always Remember, you are in Christ and Christ is in you, all power has been given to Jesus, and you have the name to use. Refuse to accept less than what God has said.

[] Conclusion

The first step to living a victorious life in Christ is to be born again. Only then, can you cease from your battles, and begin your fight of faith.

If you will like to give your life to Christ, say this prayer:

Oh Lord God, I believe that Jesus Christ is your son, I believe that he died for my sins, was buried, went to hell, resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven. I declare the Lordship of Jesus Christ over my life. I am born again. Hallelujah.

Congratulations! You are now a child of God. You are now at the starting line of a glorious journey!

[Sharing all the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world, revealing truths, and establishing the Kingdom of God in the hearts of men]

The True Nature Of Eternal Life (Part 1) by Victor Chikwendu

Religious folks cannot understand it when we say we have Eternal Life. It’s just too big for their minds to comprehend. They figure that Eternal Life will be God’s reward for us after we have died and gone to be with Him. They couldn’t be more wrong. As born again Christians, we have Eternal Life, and we have it now.

Perhaps the confusion is in their understanding of what Eternal Life is. They’ve not really come to the full understanding of it yet, so they just go on in their assumption.

In John 17:3, Jesus gave a clear definition of Eternal Life.

And this is Eternal Life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent

(John 17:3)

As Christians, we haven’t just believed for nothing. There is evidence to our believing. This evidence is in our Having.

John 3:16 clearly states that whoever believes should have. The only question is, Do you believe? If yes, then you already have Eternal Life.

If you read John 17:3 in the Amplified version of the bible, you will see that knowing God transcends just being aware of Him.

The knowledge of God refers to in John 17:3 is deep intimate fellowship and union with the Father; A state where a man is inseparable from God, and God inseparable from him, a place  where God and man become one Spirit.

That is the difference between religion and Eternal Life. We know God; we live in him and He in us. While religion tries to find God, we already have.

We have found the way to God through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Those who do not know the Son cannot know the Father, therefore cannot understand nor receive Eternal Life.

From John 10:10 we understand that no one can go to the father without first meeting the Son.

Jesus Christ said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the Life’. Eternal Life is in the son. You receive life the very second you received the Son. Not the day you die, but right here on earth.

All that is left to do is renewing your mind with the consciousness of Eternal Life, and then walking in the light of your new Life in Christ.
