Being an avid yard sale junkie Kevin finally came across something he had always wanted but was also afraid of what it could unleash. Kevin knew if he stopped at this old cabin that was a good distance off the beaten path he would be late for work but he said “What he heck.” He turned his car into the dirt road and cautiously drove over pot hole after pot hole and when he finally had the old cabin in his sights he said “Man this better be worth it!” When Kevin put his car in park and looked out the front windshield of his car the sky began to get dark and in his mind he knew before he pulled into the drive the sky was blue, but didn’t think too much about it because his mind was set on finding an old antique Ouija board. Just the thought of finding this once in a lifetime gem to add to his grand collection of antiques would be one of his greatest finds ever.

Kevin opened his car door and stepped into a pot hole and almost fell down but caught his balance and proceeded to the old dilapidated cabin that looked like if he touched it, it would fall to pieces.

As Kevin walked up to a dusty table that had what he thought was junk was a treasure to the old woman he was about to meet that would change his life forever. The old lady was dressed in black from head to toe just like a witch would be dressed like and a creepy voice that would send shivers up and down your spine. The old lady said “I know why you’re here, please come inside and I’ll show you.”

Kevin said “How do you know what I’m looking for? I haven’t even asked about anything.”

The old lady chimed in and said “I know everything,” and laughed in a creepy sort of way.

Kevin said to himself “This old lady must be off her rocker.” Kevin just went along with what she had to say thinking she’s just full of crap, but he was about to find out quickly that this old lady wasn’t full of crap at all. The old lady opened an old dusty cabinet and low and behold the Ouija board was in plain sight and Kevin couldn’t believe his eyes and said “Old lady that must be a one of a kind and he said “Can I look at it?” The old lady laughed and said “Not only can you look at it but it’s yours to keep.” Kevin looked at her and said “How much is this going to cost me?” The old lady said “Nothing, go now before the rain sets in and don’t say a word.” Kevin was so excited to be holding the first one of its kind that was made in 1890. As he was walking out the front door of the old ladies cabin he turned around and said “Old lady there are stains on the board that look like blood.” The old lady said “Nonsense, it’s just coffee stains.” “Of course,” laughed Kevin and he hurried to his car because it started raining and he didn’t want to get the Ouija board wet and ruin it.

Then the old lady said laughing as Kevin’s car was driving away, “The only thing the Ouija board will cost you is your life.”

As Kevin was driving away from the old cabin he looked in his rear view mirror and the old lady appeared in the back seat of his car and he slammed on his brakes. As he turned his head to ask her how she got in his car she vanished. The fright out what happened gave Kevin an asthma attack and had to use his inhaler to get his breathing back to normal. It was a good thing he had his inhaler on him or he may have just taken his last breath and died on the spot, but with a couple puffs from his inhaler he felt instant relief and sped out of the bumpy dirt road like a bat out of hell. As his car reached the end of the drive he looked back at the back seat and there was no sign of the old lady in the back seat, but as he looked up to get a last look at the cabin it was gone too.

Kevin said “What the hell!” and wasn’t about to turn his car around and look for the old lady to ask what happened to the cabin so he just drove back to his house where he would feel safe.

As Kevin was driving back to his house he got this stupid idea about going back after dark where the old lady’s cabin use to stand and see if he could summon up the old lady thinking she was a ghost or maybe a witch and ask her what happened to her and the cabin. Kevin knew he wouldn’t go back there unless he downed a few cold ones then he would be brave enough to dabble in the occult. When Kevin arrived back at his house he opened the fridge and got a few cold ones ordered a pizza and still couldn’t believe he got his hands on a one of a kind find that no one else had. As Kevin was eating his last piece of pizza and downed his second beer he felt really good and ready to drive back to the place where the old cabin use to stand and see if this Ouija board could really summon up anything or turn out to be a joke. He grabbed a flashlight, the Ouija board, some candles and a lighter then headed out of his house and stepped into his car and drove back to his destination. Kevin brought along a couple more cold ones just in case he started to lose his nerve and chicken out. The closer his car got to his destination a low lying fog was surrounding his car but he was too excited about getting to his destination and trying to make contact with the old lady to be spooked out with the fog and darkness.

Kevin said as his car was at the entrance to the cabin “No turning back now.” Then he popped the top of a beer and gulped it down and slowly drove his car over the bumpy dirt road as his headlights of his car guided him along the way through the dense fog and darkness until he reached the place where the cabin use to stand. He put his car in park and got everything he needed and got out of his car and placed the Ouija board on the ground and placed candles around the board and lit each candle.

Kevin gazed up at the moon which was full and shining bright and he actually wasn’t afraid but horror was just around the corner and there wasn’t anything he could do to stop it.

Kevin sat down on the ground with his legs crossed and placed his finger tips on the wooden indicator piece that would slowly guide its way to a particular letter or number that would spell out words good or evil. Kevin already downed three beers and decided to down one more before he started asking questions.

After he took his last gulp of the beer he squeezed the can and tossed it aside he said “Let’s see if this is a waste of time or not.”

He placed his two fingers on the wooden piece and asked his first question which spelled out “Death.”

Kevin just laughed it off and asked another question which spelled out “You will die!!” Again he just laughed it off because he was a little drunk and had nerves of steel because he wasn’t in his right state of mind. He then asked another question and the words spelled out “Look behind you!”

Kevin looked behind and there was the cabin and the old lady and she said “Come inside and I’ll show you something.” Kevin said to the old lady “That was a pretty good trick making you and the cabin appear out of nowhere.” The old lady went inside the brightly lit cabin and Kevin followed her inside and the front door slammed and Kevin screamed then the old lady and cabin vanished into thin air.

What really happened to Kevin was he really back home and just passed out drunk from drinking too much beer and dreamed the whole thing up or did this old lady and her cabin really exist and he summoned up a real witch that cost him his life because of his dream of owning a once and a lifetime piece of the occult. You be the judge and see what you think really happened.
