Traditional views

and teachings of rituals,

rooted in orthodox faiths.

The Chariot

Strength

The path takes a turn

into the depths of stillness-

A personal quest,

introspective solitude,

to receive understanding.

The Hermit

Fate changes purpose,

aware of my destiny.

Experiencing,

visions reveal new patterns-

The scales of karma

do weigh the weight of fairness;

The cause and effect,

lets go and accepts- Pausing

to reflect upon

his unique perspective.

The divine cause controls him.

The Hanged Man

This body broken,

I must accept this ending.

Drifting from the known,

ascend into the unknown-

Celestial transition.

Death

Aquatic rebirth,

Harmonies sing healing tones.

Equilibrium-

Liquid vitality flows,

energetic synthesis.

Temperance

Enslaved suffering,

festering in fear and doubt.

Overindulgent-

Submissive to denial

of the forgotten spirits.

The Devil

Lightning crashes down,

sudden chaos bursts release.

The ego humbled,

revelation exposes

insight to false pretenses.

The Tower

Look to the night sky,

heartfelt beliefs inspire-

Tranquil… Perfect calm,

Stars falling generously,

faith, hope, love and peace of mind.

The Star

Shadowed illusions,

vivid dreams disorient-

Wandering confused,

inner demons deceive me,

unconscious visions lead me.

The Moon

The darkness subsides,

enlightened by radiance.

I trust my true self,

experiencing greatness,

distinction of confidence.

The Sun

The trumpets call out-

Reckoning is upon us.

Hear your vocation,

release inner conviction

and receive absolution.

Judgment

A gift of talents,

blessed with loving content.

Satisfied wholeness,

holy accomplishments fulfilled.

I give myself unto you.

The World

TEXAS SEASON WORDS

Haiku and Tanka

Spring

1.

No snow-

Shallow spring rain gives

Texas blossoms.

2.

Young seedlings emerge;

The coming storm- welcomed,

Stem gives way, to wind.

3.

Roots grow deep-

Wet soil, tilled, still cold

Grows slowly.

4.

Spring equinox-

Daylight balances

perfectly with night.

5.

Sun sets in the sky,

…Tranquility

Insects come out to sing.

6.

The lingering day;

Serene passing,

dawn to evening.

7.

Cool breeze-

Bees buzzing upon

spring noontime blossoms.

8.

Leafless limbs

sway, budding life-

Sunlight bathes.

9.

Tranquil breeze:

Trills of staccato

flow through.

10.

Sparrow’s nest rustle,

bugs come out in the spring

morning, sparrows feast.

11.

A distant thunder,

from spring clouds, drops of warm rain-

Yellow dust settles

into the mud of the earth;

Planted seed sprouts among weeds.

12.

Dandelions lean,

meadow opens to mountains,

shimmering mist parts

to reveal a hazy moon;

Gusty winds- the tide rises.

13.

The lantern leads through

a pilgrimage to heaven;

Wild yellow roses

and azaleas in the hills;

Mind closer to nirvana.

Summer

1.

Short night gives way to

sweltering humidity and

overcast morning.

2.

Early summer day

is already burning hot-

The south wind is still.

3.

The verdant plant life

gives way to a fragrant breeze-

Rain is far away.

4.

The summer moon- Full;

Rises through scattered cloud peaks,

reflects upon the sea.

5.

Moon crescent rising,

mid-summer rain clouds gather-

A quiet thunder.

6.

The night is thirsty,

visions of the after glow;

Overcome by drought.

7.

Beyond the wellspring

lives the summer meadow breeze;

The tall grasses sway.

8.

Walking through the grove,

the sound of water splashing;

Clear springs reflect sky.

9.

Festivals begin,

fireworks light the night sky;

Celebrating life.

10.

Fireworks explode,

colorful embers twinkle;

Fall down upon us.

11.

Sitting on the porch,

children wade in cool water;

Mother watches- Proud.

12.

Ants build tall dirt mounds,

invading my garden beds;

Efficient workers.

13.

Mosquito buzzing,

lands upon my skin sucking;

Drinking my red blood.

14.

Watching the shadows

between the trees in the grove;

Fireflies dancing.

15.

Night time lantern’s glow,

attracts little moths floating;

Bats eat dinner.

16.

The sun lays to rest;

Evening glory rises

into summer heat.

17.

There upon the vine,

amid large emerald leaves;

Sweet melons ripen.

18.

Wandering the grove

under the abundant shade

of lush foliage.

19.

Such hot summer days,

demand travel to oceans-

Waves wash over me.

20.

I wiggle my toes,

both my feet touch damp, warm sand-

The beach is my home.

Autumn

1.

Day hours slowly
fade into long night hours…
Autumn is coming.

2.
As autumn deepens,
fleeting morning chills arise-
Refreshing coolness.

3.
Morning air chills deep-
Soaks into hard bones, so old:
My joints ache deeper.

4.
The bright harvest moon
swims in a river of stars-
Vivid lightning reflects.

5.
Lazy morning sun
hides behind the foggy hills ;
Wet grass chilled with dew.

6.
The sky is cloudless-
The autumn wind picks up speed,

soft rain soaks the ground.

7.
Nature sings softly…
Dry leaves rustle in the wind-
Insects harmonize.

8.
Flowers still blooming,
clear waters drown the garden-
High tide engulfs me.

9.

Lamplight shines upon
the scare crows in wheat fields-
The harvest is soon.

10.
Returning spirits
greet me when I sleep and dream;
I miss them deeply.

11.
Migrating birds
depart for the season-
Deer are jealous.

12.
Evening lanterns
twinkle, as the sun sets
on another, short day.

13.
My son chases dragonflies
and listens to crickets
in the early evening.

14.
Leaves change-

From green to red,
deepen to brown.

15.
Brown parchment leaves
float to the ground-
Tree limbs naked.

16.
The garden freshly tilled-
Dry oak leaves
crunch under my feet.

17.

Wind in cedar trees…
The whispering of
a frosted winter.

18.
Quickening daylight,
Darkness overcomes-
Winter is soon.

19.
Small field mice
forage and collect, with promises
of deep winter chills.

20.
The moon smiles
during light hours-
Night is soon approaching.

Winter

1.

Snowflakes never float;
Frost only freezes to ice-
melts with the warm sun.

2.
Retrospective thoughts-
Cold and clear on short days,
the year is ending.

3.
Light the fireplace,
the cold north breeze creeps inside-
We hold each other.

4.
The night moon is bright-
Winter haze, circles softly;
The night moon pulses.

5.
The north wind blows through;
Sun warms this clear winter day.
Evening chill comes…

6.
Cold and quiet night,
the bonfire burns brightly;
Slowly forgetting…

7.
Upon the oak branch
the hawk perches and watches-
Observing winter.

8.
The hawk soars, swoops down hunting for it's prey-- he waits;
Patience rewarded.

9.
Remembering snow-
Frozen on slick streets, the moon
reflects as it sleets.

10.
Light gleams and glistens
through frosted windows, the scent
of pine and nutmeg.

11.
Memories of spring
dance on the wind, between trees
barren of green leaves.

12.
Smells of cinnamon mix in the air with pine-- it
intoxicates me.

13.
A cloudy gray day;
Breeze carries a misty chill-
Coat and scarf warms me.

14.
The smell of fire
burning in the crisp, cold air-
Wood crackles and pops.

15.
White softness, quiet-
Sleet drifts upon the cold ground,
everything frozen.

16.
I gaze through
a frost bitten window;
Hot breath melts ice.

17.
Winter morning-
Still, serene landscapes;
Frozen in place.

18.

Night falls quickly,
the full moon shines bright-
Snowflakes twinkle.

19.
Winter morning-
Burning sunrise transforms from
cool aqua to warm fuchsia.

20.
A Texas winter:
Chilled, clear skies
and leafless oaks.

21.

Frosted brown grass-
I remember
what snow is…

Spirits of Humanity

Senryu, Haiku, Tanka

1.

May peace be with you -

Today, tomorrow, forever;

Set forth and prosper.

2.

Gardening

Muscles are aching-

Yard work is good for the mind

and a sore body.

3.

Magick

Called to the Divine-

Elemental energies;

Focused will provides

potential to co-create

within this expansive world.

4.

Into the mirror I gaze

the same reflection.

Staring back at me-

contemplate the same cliche,

the same conundrum.

The meaning of life

and all the wonders it holds.

5.

Words flow from within,

My soul connected to

a divine presence.

6.

Through the Fire

Smoke and flames rise high,

ashes are all that is left-

My mind mesmerized.

7.

Triangle

Equal and balanced,

each side supports the next side-

A strong trinity.

8.

Drowning

My lungs have collapsed,

no air within this dark night-

Stars twinkle brighter.

9.

Which is which

Nature vs human nature?
Present vs past tense?
How to tell the difference?

10.

Loud mind is quiet-
Now I can think and create
in the moment.

11.
With persistence;
I accomplish-
Something…

12.

3:28 am

Night falls upon me-
Eyes blink, pupils dilate,
My mind drifts away,
This reality dissolves,
I observe the great unknown…

Beautiful Mother Nature

Haiku and Tanka

1.

Hawk glides gracefully…

Perched upon oak branch, watching…

Absolutely still—

2.

Pulling weeds and roots

from the soul of my garden;

Goddess frowns on me.

3.

Diligent practise—

Inspired language is formed;

Precise emotion.

4.

White clouds smeared across

A cyan sky with soft wind

that goes, on and on

5.

Preparing for
The maiden voyage
Summer begins soon

6.

Heavy rain, all day
North wind blows strong
Winter is approaching

7.

Feather
Floats upon the wind-
Gently it lands, the breeze stirs…
Again it travels.

8.

Ribbon
Waves like a lost rag—
Joins the feather in the breeze…
Together they dance.

9.

The sun sets upon

the lake. Hues of blue,
Purple and pink.

10.
Morning chill
refreshes
my skin.

11.

I look up
at rusty rock formations-
I am smaller than an ant.

12.

I open the windows;
Cream curtains float in the wind,
the air is cool and crisp.

13.

Horoscope
A night full of stars:
Twinkling stories of lore.
Celestial dreams,
Misty lands of night beauty-
Blessed eternal darkness.

Wife & Mother

Senryu

1.

My patience tested—

Can a three year old be taught

Zen meditation?

2.

All that I have

So very thankful

of breath and life, together:

Loving family.

3.

My helpless child lays next to me- deep in pain;
I can only watch.

4.
He is strong and fights-
Struggles through the depths of pain;
I can’t console him.

5.
I must depend on
the knowledgeable healing
of other people.

6.
Children cry and yell,
this sadness does break my heart;
Passively waiting…

7.
Life is so precious…
Moments taken for granted-
So easily lost.

8.

My love,
I remember our first kiss…
I will never forget.

9.

Am I worthy?
I seek the depth of your love…
I humbly ask of it.

10.
Your broad shoulders-
I ache to touch…
Your soft skin.

Witty Verse

Unconventional Haiku and Tanka

1.

Sometimes I despise,

electronics of all kinds-

Where is my damn bat?!

2.

Printer Error

Paper size mis-match,

setting changed once more-- Tabloid.

Ten minute warm up,

after recent printed proof.

Shades of green, still don’t match.

3.

56kb Transfer

Phone dials in slow…

Simple log in screen-- password.

Open file-- download.

No worry of viruses,

only a lonely hacker.

4.

Gliitched Haiku

Mouse does not respond,

force open task manager-

Blue screen of death…

5.

Playing the Melody

Harmonics attune

between lyric and tempo-

The tone resonates.

6.

Staccato

Moments quickly pass-

City lights flicker at night,

Rain drops, dripping down.

7.

Kaleidoscope

Reflections between

revolving mirrors take shape-

Prismatic beauty.

8.

Colors spin wildly,
sparkle and glitter on the light-
Microscopic rainbows unfold.

9.

Avoid syllable counting-
Direct conflict with flow;
Going with the rhythm.

10.
Counting interrupts-
Flow with
the sound of rhythm.

11.
I forgo structure to let
the true ahh… moment
come alive…

13.
Thoughts come quick,
The moment lives and dies-
Remembered…

12.
Dash, dash…
Dot, dot, dot-
Flow, like the rivers go.

Beautiful Nature, Part 2

Short Poems

1.

Rainbow

a prism

formed from sunlight

perfectly reflected through

tiny drops of rain

in a cloudy sky of

filtered daylight

2.

Gray

A drab gray day

drips down the window panes

it’s spring once again and

the rain waters the blooming plants

thirsty from a dry winter

the young green leaves are

lush and vibrant

the sun peaks from behind the clouds

as this gray day washes away

3.

Mother Nature

A force to reckon with

she is graceful today

I let her wind exhale through my hair

my feet walk upon her soft

soil and grass

at the shore I wade deeper

through her chilled waters

cleaned by her energy

I lay out underneath the sun

my body upon the stone

she makes me whole

she is forgiving today

4.

March 28th

Such a beautiful day

the breeze blows

ever so gently

the birds chirp

and I relax

under a setting sun

I exhale a deep breath

and stare into

the pleasant views of nature

5.

Flowers

Red tulips

quickly lose saturation

petals dry and crinkle

stems wither and become stale

6.

Night

The evening glow dims to black of night

beyond the canopy of treetops

celestial essence twinkles from

thousands of light years away

revealing the constellation’s

historic legends of strength

courage and honor

7.

Seeing Red

Fall from the sky

drips upon the

buildings

concrete

asphalt

and destroys

like acid

seeping into

the ground

swallowed

a new earth

is formed

a new

fruitful heaven

without

urban civilization

8.

In the Storm

I can hear the wind

through the eves and rafters

rain water pounding

on the roof

lightning flashing

on the walls

thunder vibrating

through my body

the storm is so

calming to the mind

taking over the senses

Motherhood

Short Poems

1.

Happiness

is a mother

picking up her child

from daycare

singing “Mama”

dashing across the room

gleefully bright eyed

arms open wide

wanting to be picked up

to receive a hug and kiss

“I love you, son”

2.

Precious Treasure

The creation of life through pain

first the holiness of conception

to constitute the DNA of human cells

they intermingle in biologic transformation

to decide the look of his eyes,

his face or, her feet, her hands

the color of skin, hair and eyes

to birth the most precious treasure

an infant child

3.

Rainy Monday

Shh…

the children are sleeping

the rain is falling

it is quiet here

listen, quietly

listen to her sing

ever so faintly…

Cosmic Humanity

Short Poems

1.

Questioning

Always seeking the answers to

the greatest questions

wandering, contemplating

straying and yet re-discovering

the path

2.

Fortitude

Humanity strives with determination

even as we are not always

so full of valor

yet still we persevere

for so many reasons

out of courage and cowardice

when others behave our of fear

to promote such an air of immaturity

others are brave and speak their minds

for the benefit of mankind

3.

Trouble Lurking

What lies in the darkness

it beckons me by name

whispering

slithering

up my spine

into my ear

I find myself

unable to resist

4.

Hold my hand

soothe me and

take me far away

show me the way to

eternity

let me live forever like

the gods do among the stars

a million light years away

into the past

when life seemed more simple

more complete

to just live

exist and be

human

5.

Eyes

The depth of emotion

an expression of the soul

through which we perceive

the beauty of art

and experience a unique reality

of existence

6.

Writing poetry

is like breathing

I can’t live without it

it flows from my being

I am immersed within it

it leads me to explore the paths

of self discovery and spirituality

7.

Black or white

No shades of gray

I am denied

the reason for

absolution

never confined to

boundaries or

descriptions

I am within you

as you exhale

your power

8.

Fool’s Day

Let us explore the concept

of a different fool

balancing on the edge of the cliff

his dog nipping at his heels

the sun at his back

ready to step off to begin his

spontaneous journey

faithful in his impending folly

heading into the unknown

trusting the flow

taking the foolish path

9.

Dying

I’ve seen death

I’ve seen what comes

the lifeless hold

upon the body

don’t make me explain it

don’t make me face it

how many respects

do I have to pay

to never see this again

10.

Deep in thought

silent

staring

seeing

smoking

stones

shown

silvery

sights

so

sore

sovereign

soliloquies

spoken

softly

11.

Flowing

with the cycles of

transformation

changing through

conscious

reaction

moving like

the stars

between

day and night

soar and glide

in the sky

like a feather

following

the wind

12.

Spiral

down

into

the depths

I crawl

through

the mud

tangled

in the roots

13.

Solve the riddle

find the answer

that unlocks the secret to

another puzzle

another riddle

clues to discover

the path of the ancients
