LLOYD ALLEN'S BOOK OF FAMILY QUOTES AND ENCOURAGEMENT

Listen to her

Is your wife ready to talk, to explore her feelings and clarify her thoughts? Then it’s time to step back, stand at attention and listen. And if you should interrupt her, it must be with the words, “tell me more.”

Give her your time

If your wife works outside the home, it is important for her hormonal equilibrium – the balancing of her estrogen/testosterone that you give her your time when she gets home. You must shower her with tender loving care. Else, it shall not be well with thee

Love

He says, “I love you.” Ask him, “What meanest thou.” Is it eros, philos or agape? Is it that you feel energized by erotic desire; you just like being in my company; or you have such regard for my inner worth that you would sacrifice even life itself to be with me forever? Please, help me understand.

The rules of life

You don’t know the rules of life, until you know God experientially.

And to those who think it’s a myth, I invite you to taste and see.

Life

Life is like a game.

Know the rules, you play the game well. Live in ignorance and you blunder along

There’s good in everyone

There’s a candidate for heaven locked inside every human being

Listen to your wife

If you are married and you’re not a good listener, it may be helpful to take a course with a military commander. He may teach you how to stand at attention.

Are you pursuing him?

When you chase a man, when you pursue him as hid treasure, sometimes he pulls back and recoils in his own shell. You see, a man is like a hunter. He treasures a gift depending on how much effort put forth to secure it.

Playing politics

Have you noticed that talking politics and playing politics have the tendency to create discord and alienation between brethren, family and friends? It’s a slippery path. Tread it with care.

Labeled?

Today you’re being labeled, pathologized and categorized. Yes you did commit wrong, but no one seems to understand. They think it’s either black or white, lose or gain, succeed or fail. Separate yourself from the act, for indeed you are better than that. You can rise again. God sees more in you than they will ever envision.

Don’t judge

Do you sometimes imagine that others wish you ill, or muse about you with malicious surmising? Why not converse with them to clarify your wild foreboding? You may discover that they love you beyond your wildest dreams.

Discipline

If your heart never ached in the disciplining of your children, then you shall have many a heartache when they grow up.

Halloween

If your kids were to ask you about Halloween, what would you tell them? Would you share with them the historical evolvement and spiritual implication? And if we don’t know, shouldn’t we research it? Is it important to tell them the truth so they know what platform to stand on? Is it important? If your child is intelligent they will want the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

When they walk in the stores and they see images that are reminiscent of the dead, do you tell them that at one point in history people communicated with the dead, that they sought counsel with the dead, that they deified (worshipped) the dead? Is this practice consistent with your deeply held religious beliefs? What do you tell them?

As a general rule, the more informed the children are, the better decisions they are likely to make. If we don’t teach them, the world will educate them.

A parent’s example

Hello parents: If your relationship with Jesus is not a vibrant, thrilling and concrete reality, then be surprised if your children grow up having a vibrant, loving relationship with Jesus.

Watch your tongue

After twenty years of family counseling, I am convinced that there is hardly any habit more potent to ravage a family than uttering negative words to each other.

Words of negativity, even in the form of a joke, erode one’s self-esteem and destroy one’s humanity.

Pray this prayer earnestly, that God would allow your tongue to cleave to the roof of your mouth, before one negative word escape your lips to wreak havoc on another person’s self-worth.

You owe it to yourself and to those around you. You’d be happy you did.

Shun negativity

Did you know that about 85 percent of the communication in many homes is negative?

Make a commitment today that as long as you live you will not, under any circumstance, utter a negative word to your spouse or children.

As a consequence, there will emerge a thrill, a zest for life and a joy that the family has not experienced before.

“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16: 24.

Love at Home

The book Songs of Solomon is essentially a celebration of love.

The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation has one prominent theme. It is the message of hope, love and restoration.

What about making your home a place where love is constantly celebrated, and hope and encouragement is the language on every tongue

Make a rule of zero tolerance for negativity in your home. What a transformation will be experienced in the general home atmosphere

Appreciation

Shower your children with genuine appreciation, and they will do more than what is expected. Even their academic performance will dramatically improve.

There’s good in everyone

There’s a candidate for heaven locked inside every human being

Do you want productivity and real prosperity?

Do you want to shift the trajectory of a nation?
