Kindergarten is a time of ABCs and 123s. Throughout the year, they will work on sounding out the words and decoding their meaning using text and picture clues. Some words occur frequently enough that they are expected to be known by sight. Before every story is its word chunk, sight words, and comprehension questions. Some will have your child recall specific details, others ask them to infer what happened based on context clues, and others try to get them to personalize the story. Together these will help you see how literate your child really is…and may spark some interesting discussions.

Monster Nights

Rex and Auden get together every night. As soon as the sun sets, they race to town to play games, pull pranks, and sing songs with the children there. See what else they do during Monster Nights.

Keep reading for a sample….

To visit humans, every monster must obey some rules.

MANY rules.

Among them are…

Most monsters would rather play with sharks and vacation on deserted islands.

But I am not most monsters.
