1. The hunt for Neymar is on

The hunt for Neymar Jr. is on. There are many football clubs that are prepared to make record-breaking offers for the Brazilian star this upcoming summer.

Clubs such as English powerhouses Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to engage in a bidding war for the worldly talented Barcelona star. Neymar is one of the best football players in the world. He is at a moment where he is playing the best football of his young career.

Neymar played a huge part in Barcelona’s historic comeback against PSG in the Champions League. This past week, he was brilliant during Brazil’s two World Cup qualifying games against Paraguay and Uruguay; in which he scored four goals and had as many assists.

Reports suggest that Manchester United would be willing to offer Barcelona 173 million dollars for Neymar this summer. That would be the biggest transfer fee in the history of football. That record currently belongs to Paul Pogba, who ironically plays for Manchester United. United purchased Pogba from Juventus last summer for a record 105 million dollar transfer fee.

Although Manchester United have a history of spending money on big stars, they aren’t the only club willing to break the bank to lure Neymar. According to Spanish Newspaper Marca, PSG is reportedly prepared to make an offer for the Brazilian star estimated between 150 to 170 million dollars.

Although historic offers are expected from many clubs this summer for Neymar, it is highly unlikely that the Brazilian star will leave Barcelona anytime soon. Neymar loves playing for the team he always dreamed of playing for, Barcelona. He enjoys playing alongside whom he considers the best player in the world, Lionel Messi.

Although he has said recently that he would like to play in the Premier League in the future, that seems a few years from now. For now, you should expect the Brazilian star to continue to make jaw dropping assists and breathtaking goals for Barcelona for many years to come. Until then, teams from the Premier League and other Leagues will have to be patient and wait for their next opportunity to sign Neymar.

2. Gonzaga vs UNC for the National Championship

The 2017 College Basketball National Championship is set. Gonzaga and North Carolina will meet on Monday night for college basketball’s biggest prize.

Gonzaga is making their first NCAA tournament championship appearance in their 100-year history.

The bulldogs defeated South Carolina on Saturday night 77-73 to advance to the championship game. The bulldogs have had plenty of great teams in the past, however they never had the luxury of making it to the Final Four until this season.

On the other side, North Carolina is making their second straight National Championship appearance after narrowly defeating Oregon 77-76. The Tarheels used their great rebounding presence to overpower the Ducks and seal a very close game throughout.

The Tarheels will seek redemption after losing last years championship game at the buzzer to Villanova. The Bulldogs on the other hand will seek to make history and win their first ever National Championship.

For many, this is the National Championship game everyone wanted to see. The two best teams in the country will face off against each other for all the marbles. Throughout the year, the Tarheels and Bulldogs were the two best and most consistent teams in the nation. Although they each had rough patches during the season, they used their experience and talent to overcome adversity and advance deep in the NCAA tournament.

On Monday history will be made. Either the Tarheels will continue to add to their historic success in the NCAA tournament and win their sixth title all time or the Bulldogs will win their first championship in school history.

3. Cavaliers fans shouldn’t be worried…for now

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in a big slump right now. After losing to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, the Cavaliers have lost 10 of their last 17 games.

For the first time all season, the Cavaliers do not have the best record in the Eastern Conference, as the Celtics have claimed sole possession of first place due to the Cavs recent struggles.

Although the Cavaliers have not been playing well as of late, primarily because of their inconsistency defensively, Cavaliers fans shouldn’t be too worried…for now.

The Cavaliers should still have a fairly easy road on their way to winning their third straight Eastern Conference Championship. However, after that, a lot of things are uncertain. If the Cavaliers continue to play how they are playing right now, they have absolutely no shot of beating either the Warriors or Spurs if they were to meet in the Finals.

Since the All-Star break, the Cavaliers have posted a defense rating of 113.2, which is second worst in the NBA behind only the Los Angeles Lakers. The Cavs have the offensive talent to succeed in the playoffs, with playmakers such as Irving, Love, Smith, and of course James. However, if they are going to make a deep championship run and claim their second straight NBA championship, they will need to improve significantly on defense.

The Cavaliers have a knack of turning on their intensity during the playoffs. Let’s wait and see if they can do the same this year and claim their second straight NBA championship.

4. Messi suspended for four games

Lionel Messi has been suspended for four games by FIFA for insulting a sideline referee during Argentina’s game against Chile last Thursday.

FIFA declared Messi’s insults and comments directed at the sideline referee to be uncalled for and excessive. Although many are surprised by Messi’s suspension, many more are surprised at the length of the suspension.

Many players and coaches, such as Messi’s teammate Luis Suarez, believe the suspension is excessive and exaggerating. With Messi being suspended for Argentina’s next four World Cup qualifying games, La Albiceleste’s World Cup hopes are in serious jeopardy.

Argentina is currently fifth in the Conmebol World Cup qualifying standings, which would currently mean that they would have to face the winner of the Oceania region for a World Cup berth.

With Argentina having five games left in World Cup qualifying, Messi would only be able to play in Argentina’s last game against Eduador. By then however, Argentina’s World Cup hopes might already be decided.

The impact of this suspension is massive. Without the best player in the world, Argentina is not the same team. In the six games that Messi has played in World Cup qualifying, La Albiceleste has won five matches. In the seven games that La Pulga has not been able to play, Argentina has only won one game.

Without Messi for the next four games, Argentina is in serious jeopardy of missing its first World Cup in 48 years. The last time Argentina did not qualify for the World Cup was in 1970.

The only certainty of Messi’s suspension is that Argentina’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup in Russia in 2018 just got more difficult.

5. Eden Hazard rumors to Real Madrid are heating up

The rumors of Eden Hazard transferring to Real Madrid this summer are heating up. Eden Hazard is one of the best young players in world football.

One of the main reasons why Hazard transferring to Real Madrid this summer is considered a strong possibility is Hazard’s strong desire to play under Zinedine Zidane. Zidane and Hazard have exchanged compliments over the last couple of days. Each saying how they respect and look up to each other.

Zidane stated how Hazard is his favorite player after Messi and Ronaldo, which is a strong statement considering all the great players there are in the world and the players he manages currently at Madrid. Hazard called Zidane the greatest footballer to ever play. These statements made about each other are considered by many as hints as to why Hazard would transfer to Los Merengues this summer from Chelsea.

Hazard would make Los Merengues even that much more stronger than what they are now. Pairing Hazard alongside Ronaldo, Bale, Kroos, and Benzema, would scare defenders across all leagues.

If Hazard were to leave Stamford Bridge, he would leave a huge hole in the Chelsea attack. Hazard won the Premier League Best Player award two seasons ago, so replacing him would be tough task to say the least.

The Belgian star’s skills and talents are world class, so interests from big clubs such as Real Madrid are of no surprise. Although nothing is certain, imagining Hazard in a Real Madrid jersey would be a sight to see.

6. Texans continue to wait on Romo’s fate

It’s getting to be the end of March and the Texans continue to wait on the fate of Tony Romo. After it being reported that Tony Romo was going to be released by the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago, the Cowboys decided to not pull the trigger and keep Romo on their roster…for now.

Reports say that the Cowboys are patiently waiting for a team to bite on Romo and propose a trade. After all, the Cowboys are certainly going to part ways with Romo after finding a stud in last years draft in Dak Prescott. However, if they can get a couple of good players or picks for Romo, the Cowboys will patiently wait for a trade partner until the last minute.

The Texans are one of the few teams that are very interested in Romo. However, they are not interested in trading for him and thus will only consider signing him when and if he is released. Until then, they will continue to wait on Romo’s fate and develop their young quarterback Tom Savage if they lose on the Romo sweepstakes.

If the Texans were to sign Romo, they would be serious contenders, not just in the AFC but for the Superbowl as well. The Texans already have a number one defense. And if you though that defense couldn’t get any better…here comes back J.J. Watt to the lineup after missing 13 games last year.

Romo would be the missing offensive piece the Texans would need to be Superbowl contenders next season. With playmakers such as Lamar Miller, DeAndre Hopkins, and Will Fuller, Romo could be the player that the Texans need to take them to the next level next season.

7. Raiders are moving to Las Vegas

NFL owners approved the Raiders petition to move to Las Vegas on Monday. The Raiders received 31 of 32 votes to approve the move. Twenty-four votes were needed to approve the move to Las Vegas. The Miami Dolphins were the only team that voted against the relocation.

Although the Raiders will be moving to Las Vegas soon, they will still play in Oakland in 2017, and possibly longer. With a 65,000-seat domed stadium that will cost $1.9 billion to be shared with UNLV not expected to open until 2020, Raiders owner Mark Davis has told ESPN he plans on staying in Oakland the next two seasons.

The team holds a pair of one-year options at the Oakland Coliseum. The Raiders become the third team in the past two years to be granted approval to relocate.

Previously, both the Rams and Chargers were allowed to relocate to Los Angeles from St. Louis and San Diego, respectively. This move by the Raiders will certainly be a tough one for Raider Nation.

Fans, also known as the Black Hole, have been loyal to the Raiders for many many years. Derek Carr, quarterback for the Raiders, posted an emotional message on his twitter account stating his mixed emotions on the move.

Although he feels for the loyal fans of Oakland who will be saddened by the move, he is also excited for the new fans that will support the Raiders in Las Vegas. Nevertheless, the Raiders will have a great core of players that will be competitive for many years to come, no matter where they play.

8. Final Four is set

The 2017 Final Four is set. Oregon, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Gonzaga are the last four standing. Very few people would have predicted this final four at the beginning of the tournament.

To be exact, only 657 brackets, out of the over 18.8 million filled out, predicted the correct Final Four. With that being said, this years Final Four has a little bit of everything.

It has the Cinderella story in South Carolina, who is making its first Final Four appearance in school history. Before the start of this years tournament, the Gamecocks had a total of four NCAA tournament wins in school history. They have equaled that mark this year alone.

Then you have the iconic and powerhouse program in North Carolina. The Tarheels are making their 20th Final Four appearance, which is the most in NCAA history. The Tarheels are trying to make it back to the championship game for the second straight year. Last year, they lost in the championship game to Villanova in heartbreaking fashion at the buzzer.

Gonzaga, just like South Carolina, are also making their first Final Four appearance in school history. The Zags have been consistent all year long. Although they were given a number one seed this year, the fact that they are not a power 5 team makes them a feel good story.

Finally, you have the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks are back in the Final Four for the second time in school history.; the first time since the inaugural NCAA tournament 77 years ago in 1939.

Although the final four teams standing might not have been the ones most people predicted, one thing is certain; these four teams will give it their all to have the right to be crowned NCAA champions.

9. Devin Booker scores 70 points

Devin Booker, shooting guard for the Phoenix Suns, scored 70 points against the Boston Celtics on Friday night.

Although the Suns lost the game to the Celtics 130-120, Booker had a performance for the ages. Booker, who is only 20 years old, became the youngest player in NBA history to score 70, or even 60 points in a game.

Booker scored the most points in an NBA game since Kobe had 81 points in 2016. Booker finished 21-of-40 shooting overall, including 4-of-11 on 3-pointers, and 24-of-26 from the free throw line. He added eight rebounds and six assists in 45 minutes.

Booker joined Wilt Chamberlain, David Robinson, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor and Kobe Bryant as players to have scored at least 70 points in one game. It was the 11th game in NBA history in which a single player scored 70 points or more, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Many players and coaches around the league are taking notice of Booker’s talent and are saying that he has the potential to be a great player in the future. Booker topped Klay Thompson’s 60-point effort from December for the highest-scoring game in the NBA this season.

He had 51 second-half points, including 28 in the fourth quarter, when the Suns intentionally fouled and used their timeouts to help Booker run up his point total.

10. USMNT faces must win game against Honduras

The USMNT face a must win game against Honduras this Friday in World Cup qualifying. As it stands, the United States is in last place of the qualifying table.

Although they have played only two games, they cannot afford to lose or draw another game. Losing to Honduras would place the United States’ World Cup qualifying hopes for Russia in 2018 in serious jeopardy.

However, there is hope. The U.S. has been in this position before. And more times than not, they have delivered and obtained positive results.

The last instance where the USMNT faced a must win match was last March against Guatemala. After losing 2-0 to Los Chapines in Guatemala City, the Americans found themselves in third place of the group and in desperate need of a win. Four days later, the Americans had the opportunity to avenge their surprising loss to Guatemala. And boy did they make a statement.

The Americans hammered Guatemala 4-0. First-half goals from Dempsey and Geoff Cameron put the U.S. in front and the hosts ran away with it in the second half, as Graham Zusi and Jozy Altidore scored as well. The win ultimately propelled the U.S. to a first-place finish in the group.

So although many fans are worried about how well the USMNT has played so far in qualifying, history says they shouldn’t worry too much. But then again this is soccer we are talking about, where anything can happen.

11. Browns must take Watson #1

The Cleveland Browns have the number one overall pick in this years NFL draft. This comes after a nightmare season, in which they managed to win just one game and just missed out on becoming the second team in NFL history to go winless in a season.

The Browns have been one of the laughingstocks of the NFL recently due to their lack of success and chaotic team infrastructure. One of the main reasons the Browns haven’t had success in decades is due to their ineptitude to develop and draft a quarterback.

Since the 1999 season, the Browns have started 26 different quarterbacks. That’s the most in the NFL in that span by a huge margin. Luckily, the Browns have a huge opportunity on their hands this year. That opportunity is called Dashawn Watson.

Watson is viewed by many scouts and NFL GM’s as one of the top if not the top quarterback in the draft this year, and due to good measure.

Watson is a rare talent. In college, he was masterful with the football in his hands. He was a very efficient and accurate thrower and a good rusher as well. Watson completed 67.4% of his passes and averaged 4.4 yard per carry while at Clemson.

Watson came to national spotlight two seasons ago, when he led the Tigers to the national championship game against Alabama. Although Clemson lost, Watson had a great performance against the best defense in the country in Alabama, throwing for 405 yard and four touchdowns. However, Watson wasn’t done there.

He came back last season and got revenge on the crimson tide by defeating them in the National Championship game while having another great performance against the formidable tide defense.

If the Browns want to start winning soon and change their losing culture, it starts with drafting Watson number one. Watson is the franchise player and difference maker the Browns need to be relevant once again in the NFL.

12. El Clasico is coming to the U.S.

El Clasico is coming to America. Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off for the first time in their historic rivalry on U.S. soil on July 29.

Their anticipated matchup is part of the 2017 International Champions Cup held in the United States. American fans have always waited for this gigantic matchup featuring two of the best and most poplar football clubs in the world, to be played in American soil.

Well there wish has been granted at last. The game featuring the two Spanish giants will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Although nothing is official yet, it can be certainly predicted that Hard Rock Stadium will be packed to its capacity.

Apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid, this year’s edition of the International Champions Cup will feature other football powerhouses such as Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, and Roma.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are sure to be the biggest attractions of the cup. With these two legends winning the past nine Ballon d’Ors, American fans are in for a treat.

Having Barcelona vs Real Madrid play in the United States cannot only draw a bigger interest in soccer among fans, but it can also be the stepping-stone for more breathtaking match ups like this to be played in the future.

13. James Harden deserves MVP

Last night the Houston Rockets defeated the Denver Nuggets 125-124 for their 49th win of the season. James Harden once again had a masterful performance to elevate his mvp campaign for this season.

Harden finished the game with 39 points, 7 rebounds, and 11 assists. He made the go ahead basket with 2.4 seconds left in the game when the Rockets were trailing 124-123. Not only that, Harden also sealed the Rocket’s victory with a steal on the last play of the game.

Harden’s performance last night proved why he should be the NBA MVP for the 2016-2017 season. Although there are many worthy candidates this year such as Russell Westbrook, Kawahi Leonard, and Lebron James, Harden stands above all of them.

Harden has led the Rockets to the 3rd seed in the western conference. He is averaging 29.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 11.2 assists per game this year, all with a new head coach in Mike D’Antoni and a cast of new players such as Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, and Nene. Although Harden has been criticized in the past for his defensive play and deservingly so, he has improved significantly this year and is averaging 1.5 steals per game this season. Although Westbrook and others are putting up great numbers this year, Harden should be the choice for NBA MVP this year due to his statistical season and the way in which he has led the Rockets to a high seed in the western conference, something that was not predicted before the season started.

14. Marshawn Lynch to the Raiders?

According to several sources, Marshawn Lynch could possibly come out of retirement and join the Oakland Raiders next season.

Lynch retired from the NFL after the 2015/2016 season. During his tenure with the Bills and Seahawks, Lynch was one of the elite running backs in the NFL.

In nine seasons in the NFL, Lynch rushed for 9,112 yards and 74 touchdowns, while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. I think Lynch joining the Raiders would be a perfect fit for both parties.

Lynch is known for being a tough nosed back that can take hard hits; and that’s exactly what Oakland Raider football is all about. In Lynch, the Raiders would be getting a running back who can run out of many formations and that can catch the ball from the backfield.

Lynch is also a very good pass blocker, which is an added ability to his game. Adding Lynch would make the Raiders serious contenders in the AFC. The Raiders are also considering bringing Adrian Peterson to the Bay area but I think Lynch would be the better fit and option for Raider Nation next season.

Now that Latavius Murray has signed for the Minnesota Vikings, the Raiders acquiring Lynch might not be a luxury anymore but a necessity.

15. NBA players resting

On Saturday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers rested their big three against the Los Angeles Clippers in a primetime game on ABC. It’s the second straight Saturday night that ABC and its fans did not get to watch the assigned televised game with both teams at full strength.

Last week, both the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs rested their core players, in what was a very anticipated game between the top two teams in the NBA. The decision of teams resting their players for key games or due to other strategic reasons bring about the question; what should the NBA do about it?

Frankly, the answer is they cannot do anything about it. Although I do feel bad for the fans that pay their hard earned money to watch the best basketball players in the world play, the NBA is a business and the ultimate goal of players is to win an NBA championship. So when players are injured or have played too many minutes, they are bound to rest and take games off from time to time.

So unless the NBA implements a punishment for teams resting their players, teams will continue to rest their best players in order to conserve them for the playoffs and possibly a championship run.
