[] INTRODUCTION

THE ONLY BOOK YOU’LL EVER NEED TO START A BLOG.

I’ve been in your shoes.

Once upon a time. I wanted to learn how to make a blog.

The problem was I had no idea how to start. So I turned to the internet and did some research. All the solutions seemed to lead me in circles. It felt like I had taken two steps forward and three steps backwards.

Fast forward to today, I create and manage websites for a living. My work has been featured on many of the biggest new outlets and blogs on the internet. So what I teach you on this site is stuff I learned from years of personal experience.

The beginning is always right now for somebody. Make your beginning today.

There is no technical knowledge required to make a blog. You don’t need to know how to code. You don’t even need to know how to design.

Ready to tap into the world of blogging to help create a change in your life?

I take a no fluff and straight to the point approach so hold on tight and open your mind to an alternative way of creating a blog.

Who Am I?

What makes me an expert on blogging?

My name is John Van, and I am a full-time Internet Entrepreneur since 2011. I founded MakeBlog.org, an additional resource to this book. I have built over a handful of successful websites and web based businesses.

This gave me the expertise to efficiently teach you how to start your own blog.

Something I’ve learned is that anyone can make a blog. But few will take it any further from there.

Do not worry if some of the proceeding material seems confusing. If you get stuck on a step, simply re-read it and take it one step at a time.

You can learn how to start your own blog today. Just follow along and you will find that it’s easy to do so if you take it one step at a time. Let’s begin.

[][] CHAPTER 1: GETTING STARTED

By the end of this book you will have your own fully functional blog that you can start using to start blogging

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Through this book, I hold your hand throughout each step of the process. Everything is laid out in an extremely easy to understand format. That anyone can easily utilize to start their own blog.

HOW TO START YOUR OWN BLOG:

1) SELECTING A DOMAIN NAME:

The domain name of my website is MakeBlog.org. Wherever you are in the world. If you type MakeBlog.org into your internet browser you will be directed to my site.

Choosing a domain name is one of the most overlooked parts of blogging. A good domain name is what diversifies you from the millions of other blogs out there. A name can either make you or break you. I always suggest selecting a name that you could one day turn into a brand. Since you’re just starting out I recommend selecting a com, net, or org domain because it is the most commonly recognized around the world.

Picking a domain name doesn’t have to be hard. A few tips for picking a great domain name is keep it short, simple, and straight to the point. It is not suggested that you have numbers or slash’s (-) in your domain name because if not done correctly looks very unprofessional.

2) GET WEB HOSTING

The purpose of a web host is to host your website on the internet. So visitors can access your blog anytime of the day from anywhere in the world.

There are countless free web hosting solutions out there. They are not a viable option. The saying is you get what you pay for. I can tell you first hand this is true. With free web hosting you will get everything from website downtime to having your blog get compromised. It really is more of a headache than it is worth to deal with. There are simply no cutting corners when it comes to web hosting.

The only way to host a blog in a reliable manner is to pay a hosting company. They handle all the technical server stuff so you can worry about blogging. After all this is what they are paid to do.

For new bloggers like yourself, when it comes to web hosting your main concern should be budget and reliability. I recommend IPAGE because with an 99% up time, this reliability at a affordable cost you can depend on. If you ever have hosting issues they are available by phone, email, and or live chat.

I have obtained an 83% off discount so you can register your web hosting at IPAGE and save money in the process.

When your domain is selected and web hosting is up. All it really comes down to is a few simple clicks to set your blog up.

The steps leading up to this part of the book have been setting your blog up, and learning the basics from writing to design. Its time to take it a step further. If you want to start a successful blog.

LEARN HOW TO WRITE BLOG POSTS

Before you write a blog post. You should at least know what your going to write about. Sometimes winging it and writing what you feel like writing is fine. But sometimes you need to do the market research to see if there is people actually looking for this topic.

MARKET RESEARCH

My favorite tool is SEMRUSH. There is a free option that works just fine. There is also a option that is paid. In the beginning the free option is just fine for you. All you need to do is visit SEMRUSH and type your keyword. You will get all kinds of related keywords and more.

ELEMENTS OF A SUCCESSFUL BLOG POST:

1. Identify Your Audience

Let’s use this blog as an example. The target audience is people who want to learn how to make blogs. There is a market for it because according to Google trends it is searched ALOT. So this blog was made to help those people.

2. Write A Killer Blog Title

A blog title is the first thing people see when they visit your blog. If you post your websites on search engines and social media the title a great title is what is going to bring the people in.

3. Write Content That Is Worth Reading

Once people visit your website. You need to have captivating content that benefits the readers. This blog for people learning how to write create a blog. The content is all about this. If you have a fashion blog. You should have content that relates to fashion.

MORE INFO: HOW TO COME UP WITH BLOG POST IDEAS

CREATING GREAT CONTENT FOR YOUR READERS:

Use Google trends.

Good Market To Blog About

According to Google Trends, Fashion is a steady industry throughout the years.

Bad Market To Blog About

According to Google Trends, The VHS industry is declining and people are searching it less and less each year. Makes sense because with Blu-ray and DVD, not many people are looking to buy VHS anymore.

The article title is the first thing a visitor sees when then they visit your blog. It is the first thing they see when they are going to visit you from social media or other websites. You only get to make

a first impression once. So make it count.

Examples of good titles

“7 Timeless Quotes That Will Blow Your Mind”

“Homeless Man Is Given A Second Chance”

“The Secrets Of An Ex McDonald Employee”

Examples of bad titles

“Blow Your Mind With These Quotes”

“Homeless Guy Got His Second Chance”

“Secrets From An Old McDonald Employee”.

MORE INFO: HOW TO COME UP WITH GOOD BLOG TITLES

The key to writing great blog titles is just use emotional words that make people feel a certain way. Look at the examples above and notices the differences. You can get a pretty good idea.

[][] CHAPTER 5: PROMOTING YOUR BLOG

A great blog starts with content. Followed by a design. You could have the best looking blog in the world followed by amazing content. But what’s the point without having any visitors?

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Most people think that great content and design is enough. The visitors will come piling in on there own. This is WRONG. You need to promote your blog if you want traffic.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

There are billions of active websites in the world. Thousands of new websites are popping up each and every day. You need to do some form marketing to diversify yourself from the masses.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

I’m going to be 100% blatant with you. Yes, there are blogs out there that go viral from word of mouth. But the chances of this happening to you is like waiting to win the lottery. Maybe not that extreme, but its close.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

When blogs go viral. Those blogs are shared by many individuals on everything from social media, to news outlet, to blogs and everything in between. That is a form marketing.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

To set the stepping stones to your website’s marketing.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Let’s walk through the most popular ways of marketing today.

CHAPTER 6: MAKE MONEY BLOGGING

HOW TO MAKE MONEY:

To some people making money from their blog is the sole reason they create one. And that is okay. We will show you how to start a blog and make make money from blogging

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

You’re not going to make money overnight. It might take anywhere from weeks to months before you start seeing results in your income.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

There are literally so many ways you can make money from a blog. The most common is place advertisements and or sell products or services.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Most blogs normally just place advertisements on their sites to generate income.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

The most popular advertisement network to use is Google Adsense. With this program all you do is place advertisement blocks on your website. When a user clicks on the advertisement you get anywhere between 10 cents to 20 dollars! The best way to learn how to make money from blogging is to get in their and start working.

ADVERTISMENTS

If your running a blog. The best advertisement network on the internet is Google Adsense. I say this because they are Google.  Not many other advertisement networks can match Google payout rates. When you have a really popular blog, that is when you can go and get advertisement directly. But for now the Adsense program is your best bet.

HOW TO USE ADSENSE

Step 1- Apply to Google Adsense.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Step 2 – If your application is approved you just copy the ad code they give you.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Step 3 – Open widgets in WordPress and paste the ad code on your site.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Step 4 – Viola. You now have Google Adsense on your website and are ready to start making money.

HOW DO I GET PAID?

You can get a direct bank transfer every month. They normally payout around the 20th of each month. Or you can get a check in the mail from them.

HOW MUCH ARE OTHER PEOPLE MAKING?

As your blog gets more visitors. You will earn more.

h2<>{color:#365f91;}.

Let’s say you have a total of 100,000 visitors per month. You have a click through rate of 5% and cost per click of .40 cents. That means out of the 100,000 you get 5000 clicks per month. Well 5000 click * .40 cents equals $2000 per month.

HOW MUCH CAN I MAKE?

Well that depends on what category the advertisers in your industry are paying. If you have blog about stocks, you can bet your going to get more than if you have a blog about entertainment. But publicly the company does not disclose the pay rates they pay.

CONCLUSION

Developing and running a blog doesn’t happen overnight. But if you put in consistent effort and apply everything you learned from this book in a proficient manner. You’re on the right track to starting and running your blog.

In the world we live in today, almost everybody is hooked to internet. The potential for a website to go viral online is easier than you would think. Going viral online is how many people and unknown companies turn from being unknown websites to becoming overnight successes.

It is important to note that depending on the business model each blogs success will vary. As a blogger it is up to you to find where your audience hangs out online and connect them to your blog so you can turn those people into fans of your website.

You can use the information in this book to get started on life as a blogger and remember to take it one step at a time. Everything in life starts with the first step. Hopefully this book will be your first step in a new way of expanding yourself online through your website.
