There are so many questions in my head right now! Angela stabbed me with a glowing knife. I was almost attacked by some kind of monster before some angel-looking thing saved me. This Natalie girl almost killed me herself, and can turn into some kind of beast. That other girl, Audri, can teleport. Angela can shoot lightning from her fingers, and now they’re telling me that I’m one of them, a kheprian?

“What are you talking about?” I say in a hushed, but panicked tone. “What the hell is this?”

Angela looks at me with gentle eyes.

“We are a race sworn to protect mankind from the dangers of the Ahkashic Realm.” she says.

“The what?” I ask, breathing slowly to try to calm my nerves.

“Ahkashic Realm. It’s basically what some people refer to as the ‘spirit world.’”

Natalie steps forward with an angry glint in her eyes.

“If it weren’t for us, every human in the world would be devoured by Ahkasans, or spirits, as you may know them” she says, a growl in the back of her throat. What did I do to make her so angry?

I grab my hair tightly, nearly ripping it from my head. This is just too much to take in right now! Wait a minute…

“Is that what that thing was? The thing that attacked me?” I ask, bringing my hands down in front of me.

“Yes, it was.” Audri says. “They’re responsible for the people dropping around town. I’m impressed you actually took it out on your own.”

I raise my brows in confusion. Where did they get the idea that I defeated that thing?

“Uh… I didn’t do anything to it. How could I have defeated it?” I ask.

Angela’s eyes widen as she exchanges glances between Natalie and Audri. Natalie looks the most shocked out of the three of them.

“What do you mean you didn’t defeat it?” Natalie yells at me, her eyes starting to glow red. “What was the light?”

I reel back, putting my hands in front of me. This girl has some serious anger problems.

“There was someone else who showed up when that monster attacked me. They took it out, not me.” I say, startled from Natalie’s outburst. I’ve known her for only a few minutes, and she already scares the shit out of me.

Natalie turns to Angela, who has her hand to her chin in thought.

“That isn’t the main priority right now.” she says, “What matters is we get him up to speed..”

I may have known Angela for only a day, but she seems so different now. She seems very serious, and to the point. She’s almost like a different person.

Angela pulls Natalie back from in front of me, and takes a deep breath.

“As I was saying,” she says, “we are kheprians, a race sworn to protect mankind from Ahkasans, beings who cause havoc among humans. We have been doing so since the time of the Pharaohs.”

I perk my head up at Angela’s mention of Pharaohs.

“Since the time of the Pharaohs… are you girls immortal or something?”

Natalie appears in front of me, glaring at me with her crimson orbs, and baring her fangs at me.

“Shut up and listen, and this will go a lot faster.” she growls in my face as I reel back.

“Yes ma’am.” I say with a quiet whimper. What is with this girl? Is anyone here even somewhat normal?

“Natalie.. that’s enough.” Angela calls out. Natalie returns to her place beside Angela.

“Anyway, to answer your question, no, we’re aren’t immortal.” Angela continues with her explanation.

“That’s an explanation for another time. As for how we defeat Ahkasans, you’ve already seen what we can do.”
