Effective Home Remedies for High Blood Pressure

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Often called “The Silent Killer,” high blood pressure puts extra strain on your heart that can lead to many problems.   Many people are not sure what blood pressure means. Blood pressure is the amount of force on your arteries and heart from the pumping, or movement, of your blood throughout your body. Many people are unaware of the danger they are in. Statistics show more than 50 million Americans are affected by high blood pressure, also called hypertension. However, there are some remedies we can do by ourselves at home to reduce our blood pressure.

Proper understanding about Systolic and Diastolic pressure

The pick point of blood pressure is called “systolic” pressure and the second, or bottom number indicates the diastolic pressure. Systolic tells the highest pressure your blood reaches when the heart is beating or contracting. The diastolic number is the lowest pressure reading that occurs between heartbeats (heart contractions).

Ideal blood pressure for sound health

Adults should look to have blood pressure at or below 120/80. This level means you are in the best condition for avoiding health problems such as heart attack or stroke. If the systole is 140 or above, or the diastole is 90 or above, this shows high blood pressure. You should be taking action to reduce your blood pressure systematically.

Effective home remedies for high blood pressure

1. Measure your blood pressure on a regular basis

Unlike many health problems, high blood pressure rarely shows obvious symptoms. The only way we can know for certain is to have our blood pressure measured. Blood pressure is easily measured at clinics, doctor’s offices, or hospitals. Sometimes there are even automatic self-serve machines in shopping malls to take a measurement.

2. Reduce salt from your food

Don’t add salt to your food or when cooking. Check the products you buy for the amount of salt or sodium that they contain. Look for low salt alternatives. Replace salt with other herbs or spices for more variety.

3. Eat more fruit and vegetables

Adults should eat a minimum of 400 grams of fruit and vegetables per day. Fresh produce is ideal, but canned and frozen is also okay. However, beware of added salt, sugar, and fat to processed fruits and vegetables.

4. Lose some weight

Avoid fat or crash diets. Simply make small changes to your lifestyle to lower your weight gradually over time.

5. Avoid consuming alcohol, fizzy drinks, drugs or even fast food

Reduce or eliminate drinking of alcohol from your diet. It would be better if you ignore the fizzy drinks, fast food and fatty dishes to avoid unnecessary risks.

6. Increase the amount of daily exercise in a routine way

This exercise can be simple things. Walk up the stairs for several floors instead of using the elevator to go up to your destination. Do more walking instead of driving, taking the bus, or the subway. Any activity is good that raises your body temperature and leaves you slightly out of breath.

After all, if you have high blood pressure, you should consult a physician regularly to monitor your health. However, there are simple changes you can make to your lifestyle, eating habits, and exercise which will lower your blood pressure and also give you a healthier life.

Most Convenient Home Remedies to Get Rid of Awful Smell

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

It is a condition that happens to many women, up to 75% of women, at some point in their lives. Bacterial vaginosis leaves an awful smell that can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. It is an abnormal condition in the vagina caused by bacteria. Bacterial vaginosis is known as BV for short.

Bacteria, the main culprit for bad smell

Although bacteria are everywhere in life, some bacteria are good, and some are bad. Inside our bodies cavities, especially moist areas like our mouth, nose, or vagina, there are bacteria. Some bacteria are beneficial and others, such as the one that causes BV, are unhelpful.

A correct identification of the fishy odor

BV leads to a vaginal discharge. However, another condition – a yeast infection – could be mistaken for BV. The discharge from BV is usually gray or white with a fishy odor. However, the vaginal discharge from a yeast infection is white and thicker; like cottage cheese. Also, a yeast infection’s discharge is usually odorless.

The recommended home remedies especially for women

Women everywhere find relief from BV via home remedies. Using natural, everyday ingredients restores the balance and health to their bodies. Unlike prescription drugs which indiscriminately eliminate both good and bad bacteria, home remedies restore and improve health in a holistic manner.

Apple Cider Vinegar – one home treatment

The first one to consider is using apple cider vinegar. The acidic nature of vinegar makes the vaginal area harder for bad bacteria to thrive and encourages good bacteria. Just add one to two cups of the apple cider vinegar to your bath water. Be sure to stay in the bath water for at least 20 minutes. Do this soaking procedure each day until it improves.

Yogurt – another great treatment

Natural yogurt contains a beneficial bacteria called Lactobacillus. Be sure to check the yogurt label carefully to make sure the brand you choose isn’t over-processed and has removed beneficial bacteria. Use a cotton pad and apply the yogurt to the affected area. Leave the yogurt on for thirty minutes, and then wash with clean water. Repeat three times a day until all symptoms have gone.

Tea Tree Oil – a natural antibacterial

Tea tree oil has long been known for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Also, it will work against that fishy smell too. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a small bowl of warm water. Mix it well and use it to rinse your vagina. Do this every day for three to four weeks. Another option is to add a few drops of tea tree oil to your bath water and then soak in the tub for at least thirty minutes. Follow this home remedy each day for a month.

Well-known natural antibiotic garlic to the rescue

From horror movies people often associate garlic with warding off vampires, garlic is known for its healing and health promoting properties. Mash three to four cloves of garlic and apply the paste mixture to the affected parts. Leave it on for twenty minutes and then rinse with clean, lukewarm water. Follow these steps daily for two months.

Wonderful treatment with fenugreek seeds

Using fenugreek seeds is highly beneficial. These will improve the pH level and kick your immune system into gear to hasten the healing process. Let two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds steep in a teacup of water overnight. Drink the water in the morning, preferably before breakfast. This should be repeated daily for one month.

Magical spell of milk to cure BV

Similar to yogurt, milk contains lactobacillus bacteria. This makes milk a natural and good cure for BV. Dip a tampon in milk and insert into your vagina. Keep in place for one to two hours, and then remove. Perform this remedy daily for up to a week.

Most Effective Home Remedies for Gout

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Gout is a complex type of arthritis. Usually, it affects men more than women. It is most known for intense pain and redness where the big toe attaches to the foot but can be about severe pain at any joint. A gout attack can happen suddenly and could even awaken you in the middle of the night. Gout is caused by excessive uric acid, and foods rich in purines, which break down to uric acid, are to be avoided. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to treat gout at home. The three keys to gout are: watching what you eat, reducing your weight, and increasing your daily exercise.

Limiting your purine intake is a great Step

Purines break down into uric acid. So, limiting purine-rich food is stopping the problem before it happens. Red meats, organ meats, and shellfish are all purine-rich foods. Controlling their amounts in your diet is controlling your gout.

Reducing alcohol use is essential

Reducing your consumption of alcohol is a significant step in your home treatment. Drinking alcohol affects the kidneys. Your kidney’s ability to eliminate uric acid through urination is impaired by alcohol. This causes more uric acid to build up in your body. Beer is especially to be avoided as it is rich in purines.

Fructose should be avoided

Sugary drinks sweetened with a fruit sweetener, fructose, increase uric acid. Avoid fructose and corn syrup sweetened beverages; choose healthy alternative drinks, especially water. Water not only healthily hydrates your body but supports your kidneys in eliminating uric acid from your system. Water cleanses your body in a natural way.

Weight reduction is important

If you are overweight, your body produces more uric acid, and your kidneys find it harder to eliminate uric acid too. Reduce your weight through gradual changes in your diet. Avoid fad or “crash” diets as these can temporarily spike uric acid levels. Fasting or extreme low-calorie diets have the same adverse effect -- they will temporarily cause uric acid to peak.

Exercise helps in several ways

A moderate exercise program will go far in treating gout. Not only will the exercise support your in your weight reduction goals, but your body will function better. You will find you have more vigor and can take on life’s challenges more easily. Use mind-body linkage to improve your life through making your body stronger and healthier.

Realign your sources of protein

Your body, like all bodies, needs protein. However, protein can come from different sources. Low-fat dairy products have been seen to provide some protection against gout. So, add these to your diet and make low-fat dairy products your preferred protein source.

Cherries change your out outlook

In the case of gout, cherries have been connected with reduced uric acid levels. They have also been noticed to decrease the frequency of gout attacks. Eating more cherries is a healthy way to support you against gout. And, if you don’t like the cherry fruit, there is always cherry extract derived from the fruit.

Vitamin C intake will help you see your way clear

Increased vitamin C may reduce uric acid levels. Eat more vegetables and fruits that are rich in vitamin C, especially oranges. The extra vitamin C from these foods will help you against gout, but also assist with your weight loss goals.

Coffee lowers uric acid

Studies have shown that coffee reduces uric acid levels. The association is seen in both regular and decaffeinated coffee. Have a cup of coffee to reduce your uric acid levels. Also, coffee leads to more urination which is how your body expels uric acid.

It’s not Just for Athletes -- Home Remedies for Jock Itch

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Although it’s common name, jock itch, makes us think of athletes, this fungal condition can happen to anyone who sweats a lot. It’s not a serious condition but is certainly uncomfortable and annoying. The condition is characterized by a reddened area of skin in the moist areas of the groin which is itchy and forms a half-moon or circular shape. Another common name for this fungus “Ringworm” derives from the circular shape of the fungal infection.

Keeping clean is important

Jock itch originates from sweat and moisture. So, be sure to bathe at least once a day, and ideally wash the groin area specifically two to three times daily. Wash the affected area with soap and clean water. In addition, change your underwear often -- at least once a day. All-cotton underwear is preferable, and it should be loose fitting to allow a flow of air.

Use white vinegar to attack the fungus

Known for both its antifungal and antiseptic properties, white vinegar is a great treatment for jock itch. Mix one part of vinegar to four parts clean water. A clean cloth, such as a washcloth, soaked in this mixture should be used to wash the affected spots thoroughly. Allow the area to air dry; don’t rinse it off and don’t towel dry. Repeat this cleaning two or three times a day.

A bleach bath is a great treatment option

Bleach is a potent substance. Add one-quarter cup of bleach to a full bathtub of your bath water. Soak in the tub for fifteen minutes. Perform this treatment daily or every other day. Be sure to dry thoroughly after the bath.

Tea tree oil is a top remedy

With its natural antifungal properties, tea tree oil is an almost perfect remedy for jock itch. Use a cotton ball with several drops of tea tree oil to apply the tea tree to the affected area. If the application causes too much of a burning sensation, then mix four or five drops of tea tree oil with a tablespoon of another oil such as coconut oil or jojoba oil. Next, considering using soap or shower gel that features tea tree oil.

Rubbing alcohol to the rescue

Rubbing alcohol is very effective. Not only does the rubbing alcohol kill the fungus, but it also has drying properties which reduce the moisture that the fungus thrives in. Use a cotton ball dipped in a 90 percent isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). Gently pat the affected area with the cotton ball. There is no need to dry it; it will dry quickly on its own in the air. Perform this several times daily.

Apple cider vinegar is another amazing remedy

Just mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in two cups of warm, clean water. Wash the groin, especially the infected area, and allow it to dry on its own in the air. This treatment should be done just before bed, but ideally two or three times daily.

Salt saves the day

Regular table salt is effective against fungus and infections. A salt water bath will resolve jock itch easily. Mix a generous amount of salt into your bath water. Soak in the bathtub for twenty to thirty minutes. Repeat this at least once daily.

Honey helps clear up Jock Itch

Because of its excellent antifungal and antiseptic properties, honey can get amazing results against jock itch. Find pure honey and apply it to the jock itch. Leave it on for at least thirty minutes, then wash off. Pat the area dry with a clean towel. Do this treatment twice daily.

Magical Home Remedies to Fix Foot Fungus

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

This very common affliction causes peeling of the skin, itching, and burning. Foot fungus is also known as tinea pedis. It most commonly occurs between the toes, especially between the fourth and fifth toes. Tinea pedis happens when feet are sweaty and moist. Damp socks and shoes favor the growth of the fungus. It is easily spread among individuals through contact with clothes and other surfaces.

Fight fungus by keeping dry

Reduce the conditions that allow foot fungus to thrive. Dry between your toes with a clean towel after swimming or bathing. Wear sandals to allow air to circulate around your feet. Wear socks that absorb moisture and change them several times per day. Last, use powder, such as baby powder, on your feet to promote more arid conditions.

Garlic attacks fungus

Ajoene, found in garlic, is what gives garlic its antifungal properties. Crush a clove of garlic and mix that with some cooking oil, such as olive oil. Apply this garlic-oil paste to the feet. Let it rest on the feet for a half hour. Wash the paste off and thoroughly dry your feet. Ideally, use an antifungal soap when you wash. This treatment should be repeated daily.

Vinegar to change the pH

Acidic vinegar can readjust the pH levels on the foot making conditions less hospitable to the fungus. A vinegar bath is a fine approach. Mix one part of vinegar to three parts water. Soak your feet for fifteen minutes. Repeat two times per day. Dry your feet thoroughly with a clean towel after the soak.

Salt is a strong treatment

Salt has a long history as the enemy to fungus and bacteria. A foot bath of salt water is a wonderful way to combat foot fungus. In a tub, mix six tablespoons common salt with a quart of water. Soak your feet in the salt bath for ten minutes. Afterward, dry your feet thoroughly. Apply baby powder or baking soda, especially between the toes, to promote dryness. Repeat the salt bath several times a day.

Tea tree oil destroys fungus

Renowned for its antiseptic and antifungal properties, tea tree oil destroys foot fungus. In equal parts, mix pure tea tree oil with olive oil. Smooth this balm on the feet twice each day. Alternately, mix some pure tea tree oil with pure aloe vera gel in a ratio of three to one. Massage this gel on the feet twice daily.

Black tea cures foot fungus

The tannins in black tea are a natural astringent. Just steep five tea bags in four cups of hot water. After the water cools, soak your feet in this tea bath for thirty minutes. Be sure to dry your feet thoroughly afterward. Repeat twice daily.

Cinnamon – a reliable remedy

Another commonly found household spice, cinnamon, is a reliable remedy for foot fungus. Mash eight to ten cinnamon sticks into small pieces. Add these pieces to four cups of boiling water. Simmer on a low flame for 45 minutes, then remove from the heat source. Let the mixture steep for an additional hour. When it is cool enough, soak your feet in this mixture for thirty minutes right before bed. Be certain to dry your feet thoroughly after the soaking. Repeat daily.

Onion, a strong antifungal

The strong antifungal properties of onions work wonders with foot fungus. Grind up two medium-sized white onions. Strain their juice with a sieve or strainer. Wash your feet with an antifungal soap, then apply the onion juice on the affected area. Leave the juice on for thirty minutes, then wash with warm water and dry thoroughly. Apply baby powder or baking soda, especially between the toes, to keep your feet moisture-free. Repeat this remedy twice a day.

Pernicious Parasite Roundworms Routed by Home Remedies

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

One of the more common parasites found in humans, roundworms -- with an appearance similar to the common earthworm -- make their home in our digestive system. Roundworms are primarily known to make their homes in the small intestine, but can thrive anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract. Often there are no pronounced symptoms from roundworms, but some people experience fevers, dry cough, and irregular bowel movements. Nausea and vomiting are also possible. Of course, seeing the roundworm in the stool is a sure sign. Here are some home remedies that have over time been reported to be effective.

Cleanliness is an excellent first step

No one wants to get rid of roundworms only to have them quickly return through poor hygiene. So, when you are treating yourself for roundworm, follow these good hygiene rules. Wash your hands with soap and water before eating or preparing food; also after using the toilet. These steps will help keep roundworms from (re)entering your body.

Fitting food preparation to control Roundworms

Besides personal cleanliness, proper food preparation is also essential. [* Fruits and vegetables should be washed in safe water, and meats should be frozen at -20 C for at least twelve hours before consumption; cook meats thoroughly at 72 C. *] These steps go a long way to keeping you from a re-infestation.

Pumpkin seeds are perfect

Peel and mash a generous amount of pumpkin seeds -- at least three tablespoons worth. Puree the seeds with a juice of your choice. Drink daily until the infestation has cleared. Ideally, include a portion of food with laxative properties such as banana or kiwi in your breakfast to complement the effects of the pumpkin seeds.

Wormseed tea is a wonderful treatment

Long known in tropical regions for its effectiveness against parasitic worms, wormseed works well. Avoid wormseed oil. Make a tea by steeping wormseed in warm to hot water. Drink daily until the infestation has cleared. Also, don’t confuse Wormseed with Wormwood.

Garlic zaps parasites

Garlic is well-known for its health promoting properties such as anti-parasitic properties. Eat several cloves of raw garlic daily. Another option is mixing two cloves of crushed garlic with milk. Drink this on an empty stomach.

Cloves close the door on Roundworms

Known for their anti-parasitic properties, cloves are an excellent treatment. Mix one teaspoon of freshly ground clove powder to one cup of hot water. Let the mixture steep for twenty minutes. Drink this clove preparation three times daily for a week. Cloves are also known as a preventative for future infestations.

Papaya seed powder is a powerful treatment

Caricin in papaya seeds helps eradicate worms. Mix two tablespoons of freshly ground papaya seeds with one cup warm milk or water. Drink before breakfast for three times on consecutive days. An alternative approach would be to drink fresh papaya juice on an empty stomach. Repeat this remedy for three days.

Pomegranate tree bark banishes Worms

An alkaloid in the bark is toxic to the worms. Just add a two-inch portion of bark to one cup water. Boil until it is reduced by half. Allow the mixture to cool and drink three times a day at every meal.

Indian Lilac is a vital Remedy

Indian Lilac, or Neem, is effective against a wide range of parasitic worms. Drink a glass of warm water or milk to which one teaspoon of neem leaf powder has been stirred in. Consume twice daily for a week. Neem also helps remove toxins left behind from the worms.

Amazing Therapies for Nail Fungus

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Nail fungus is a common condition. It begins as a yellowing at the tip of the nail and gradually goes deeper to the nail bed. The fungus will cause a discoloration, and sometimes a crumbling of the nail at the edges. It can affect several nails, but rarely all of them. There are a number of home remedies which will rescue you. These treatments need to be practiced for one to two months.

Keeping nails clean and dry is the initial but effective step

Nail fungus, like other fungi about the toes and fingers, thrive on moist conditions. Wash your feet and hands before bed. Dry them thoroughly afterward, particularly between the toes and fingers. Trim nails to keep them short. For the feet, change socks often and use a powder, such as baby powder or baking soda, to absorb moisture inside your socks and shoes. Throw away old shoes which may harbor fungus.

A menthol vapor rub application helps

A menthol vapor rub, such as Vicks VapoRub, has been reported to greatly help. Apply a modest amount of the rub each day using a cotton ball or cotton swab. This inexpensive treatment has been found to be effective by many.

Snakeroot extract saves the day

Despite a somewhat unappealing name, many have had great success with snakeroot extract. This item comes from a plant that is in the same family as the sunflower. Apply the snakeroot extract two to three times a week. This treatment takes several weeks.

Tea tree oil combats nail fungus

Tea tree oil has long been known to have antiseptic and antifungal properties. Use pure tea tree oil. Massage the oil onto and around the affected area. Apply the oil twice daily until the fungus is gone.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a good treatment

Leverage the acidic nature of apple cider vinegar to get rid of the fungus. Mix one part apple cider vinegar to one part water. Soak the affected nails in this solution for thirty minutes each day. When done, be sure to dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. If the fungus is on your feet, apply some baby powder after towel-drying to absorb extra moisture.

Orange oil drives nail fungus away

The power of orange oil and its antifungal properties has been known for generations. Use an eyedropper to apply pure orange oil between the toes or fingers as well as under the nails. Leave the mixture undisturbed for 30 minutes. Repeat two to three times daily.

White Vinegar is one of the best remedies

White vinegar fights the fungus and changes the skin’s pH to be inhospitable to fungus growth. Just combine one part of white vinegar with two parts of warm water. Then soak the affected toenail for 10 to 15 minutes. At the end of this treatment, rinse off the vinegar and dry the nail thoroughly. Generously sprinkle some baby powder on the feet to promote dryness. Repeat this treatment twice daily.

Garlic is a very powerful antifungal

Allicin and ajoene, both compounds found in garlic, have antifungal properties that can help treat toenail fungus.   Mix equal amounts of garlic oil and white vinegar. Apply this solution on and around the affected nails. Leave it on for a few hours. Cover with some gauze or a bandage. Repeat daily.

Lemon Juice is a proven home remedy for nail fungus

Lemon juice has both antiseptic and antifungal qualities. Pour some fresh lemon juice on the nail. Leave it on for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Alternately, massage some olive oil and lemon juice into and around the nail area. Use equal portions of olive oil and lemon juice. Repeat this remedy twice a day.
