1.
Every year in the early 1970s in Franklin grove il. Bob Logan held an annual sweet corn boil and the adults played guitars and drank beer, my dad included.
This is where I met g w smith and his family.
My cousin and I somehow managed to sneak a beer and drank it sitting under a bush.
My dad would haul his guitar out and play it now and then, this was one of the few times he played with others.
His kids were all barely younger than me so we were all about in our teens.
————-
Soft Lullabies
Well
Its been a long day
And I’m sorry to say
The night has to end
This way
So forgive me I
Sing a soft lullaby
That brings those sweet dreams
To me

Yea
A cowboy can tell-.
By the dust where he’s been
No
I can’t live
On old memories
Still how am I
To forget the past
Those are behind
Long past and gone
So now its just me.
And old memories
That go on and on

There’s a town
On a creek
Not far from rock river
And its here
That the mighty springs flow
In the woods
Near a cave
Not three miles from Franklin
Is the place
That I want to go
Old mill road
Now a park
Not the place I used to know
Where my friends sang songs
Here
At the edge of the grove

Where a mans home is his castle
And the kids come to play
Its not easy being a cowboy
I’ve learned the hard way
7.
I’ll see you in church Sunday morning

Song list ;
1.
Kaamo has stopped seeing secrets
Stardust has orbited away
Engel never really existed
And godfakers lost his way
Rainmaker
They’ve all left
But me
I have to stay
2.
The godcheaters die and be dead
The god haters life will be dread
The god creators died in sorrow
And godfakers hiss at tomorrow
Godfakers hiss at tomorrow
Tomorrow
3.
Sun dusted shadow casters
Appear on the scene
Deep rusted earth masters
Know where they’ve been
4.
Stash pipe hold the grass that grows
Columbia fields a connection who knows
No one knows he grows his own
Frown in big town snow in big mounds
Everyone not me doesn’t know he’s grown
Out of town he’s not known as going to smoke
But to drink his high
Glass tube snort the powder that goes
Into your brain and thru your nose blow
You’re bodies numb
Your brain is dead
There’s just a rush
Inside your head
5.
Bruce played guitar and formed a band
Jim was a friend and a rock fan
They needed a bass to get things done
So Jim went out and he bought one
Sybarite was hatched out of this egg
They jammed a lot, then met Greg
He had lots of art and poetry
That fit their music lyrically
They got better, let time linger
Greg ended up being their singer
They sounded tight rest assured
With Bruce’s notes and Greg’s words
Bruce couple play and Greg could write
While Jim’s bass playing was always right
But all things end, things must change
People move, minds get rearranged
But I’ll tell you this and I’ll be right
I’ll never forget the band called syberite
Kaamo has raised his ugly head
Stardust has crashed to the ground
Engel can’t remember the time
Godfakers can’t be found
Rainmakers
Lost in space so I’ll just wait around
Yea
Rainmakers
Lost in space
So I’ll just wait around
