Brain-stretching anagram word puzzles, with a twist!
Solve the clued words using the seven scrambled letters + a wild ?. Answers are seven letter words unless a clue shows 6 or 8. Sixes use only the seven given letters. Clues are honest—yet could mislead you. Beware! These can become addictive.
There are devices that can provide answers. However, they deprive you of the ‘AHA’ discovery moment.
Should 7 LETTERS be popular, I’ve planned for 5, 6, and 8 LETTERS. Also additional collections of all lengths. Comments welcomed, pro or con. Added note: for the present I will stay with the 7 letters format. Unless interest shown, 5 and 8 letter collections are out. Fives are too easy, and eights are too hard to enjoy. Sixes are a future possibility.
Why seven letters? They cover likely 99.99% of all human knowledge. Also, I wanted to restrict the letter rack to seven different letters (no doubles) for as long as practicable. Most of the usable words have a ratio of four constants to three vowels. These facts made the process manageable. Finally, I wished to test the concept on hard-core solvers. Encouragement needed to repeat—a time-consuming task—three years so far.
Do not rush. Savor the process. Stretch your brain and mind. You will often discover words that do not fit any clue. Many letter racks have dozens of possible six, seven, and eight-letter words. That is a challenge you’ll encounter. While these are harder puzzles, all but a rare few answers are relatively everyday words. Enjoy!
A suggestion. Acquire a set of alphabet tiles plus one blank from an available word game. Rearranging lettered tiles is much easier than trying to juggle letters in your head.
