What is Church? (And other stories) is a collection of three pieces that I wrote during 2017 and sent to my flock by email. As with all of my writing it is nothing more than me sharing my own story of what God has done for me in order to encourage others on their own journeys. Our history is His-Story and the most powerful and most encouraging teaching that we can give to others. What is Church? For many Children of God church is the building that they go to on a Sunday morning to worship God and be taught His Word but that is just a very small part of what "Church" is because Church is far more than that. Church for me is the world and the people around me and I am at Church from the minute I get out bed in the morning to the minute I go to bed at night. The world is my Church and I am at Church wherever I am, whoever I am and whatever I am doing. This is the Church of the Book of Acts - a Spirit led and Divinely inspired Church that is not buildings and religious rules but wherever God's Children are gathered. What is Church shares my thoughts on what I believe Church to be based on my own faith, my own relationship with God and my deep love of the profoundly mystical yet very down to earth Celtic Christian Spirituality Church and is not intended to be the ultimate definition of what Church is but to encourage people to think outside the "Church is a building" box and ask themselves the question "What is Church for me?" "A Very Faithful God" tells of how God provided for me and protected my aid convoys in sometimes astonishing ways and in sometimes dangerous and challenging situations when I ran a charity doing aid work in the Balkan country of Bosnia after the civil war there in the 1990'. And "In God We Childlike Trust" is some thoughts that came to me after reading the interpretations of three dreams that I had during 2017. These interpretations spoke powerfully to me about my faith and my relationship with God and how that can grow and flourish and I wanted to share those thoughts with others. I hope that "What is Church? (And other stories) blesses you and encourages you in your own journey.
