In the rich body of work that comprises classic cinema, people are sure to find a genre, actor, or particular film that especially resonates with them. Something about the story, delivery, writing, cinematography, or technical elements can evoke curiosity, awe, or connection. It is no surprise that certain classic films are still noteworthy and continue to be discussed long after their initial release dates. However, there are many more films in this diverse body of work that do not receive as much attention. Though they may not be featured as often as some of their more popular counterparts, there is much merit in films that are underseen and underrated. Many films are deserving of rediscovery and reexamination, as highlighted in this volume. The Classic Movie Bloggers Association (CMBA) is delighted to present Underseen and Underrated: Celebrating Lesser-Known Classic Films. CMBA bloggers determined some of their favorite underseen films and reevaluated these films as part of the Spring 2017 CMBA Blogathon. A selection of the resulting articles has been published here for the enjoyment of fellow classic film fans.
