Henry and his wife Jane were celebrating their 25th anniversary with friends and family, but they both knew in their hearts that they were both dying inside and all the love they had for each other was gone many years ago, but they didn’t want to spoil the evening in front of friends and family, so they put on their happy faces and made it look like they were still in love.

The party went on without a hitch and when the last guest left and the door was closed, Henry’s wife laid in on him like a ton of bricks about his love affairs with his secretary.

Henry said, “We live like strangers in this big house and we sleep in separate bedrooms. I couldn’t take the loneliness anymore and she came on to me, so I said why not? Then the attraction grew even stronger every time we touched, and you can yell at me all you want, but it’s not going to change a thing between us, so after this goodbye trip I planned for us is over we’re over.”

Jane was still deeply in love with Henry and thought the trip would be her last ditch effort to change his mind about dissolving their marriage and give it one more chance. The only thing they both in common at this point was sky diving. Henry was an air force pilot and got a purple heart when he served his country in the Vietnam War.

Henry pretended to be in good spirits with the trip and knew the skydiving trip was the perfect plan for an accident to happen, if you know what I mean.

When Henry and his wife arrived at the airport, he told her to get aboard their Cessna he had rented while he got their parachutes. Jane had no clue what Henry’s plans were when they were going to jump out of the plane and pull their chutes.

When Henry went in to get their chutes, he called his lover to tell her that the deed would be done and over soon and he could meet her in his cabin where they shared many passionate nights together.

Henry rigged her parachute so that both rip cords would be stuck, so that even the emergency cute would not open, sending Jane to her death below. Henry put his chute on and carried her chute to her on the plane where the pilot and she were waiting.

Henry climbed aboard and handed Jane her parachute. She put it on and said, “This is so exciting, we should do this more often, don’t you think so, Henry?”

Henry had to put on a show and pretend he was just as excited as she was because he didn’t want the pilot to think there was anything wrong between them, should anything go wrong on the jump that would put suspicion on him.

Everything went according to Henry’s plan, and they both jumped out of the plane one after the other and they both pulled their rip cords. Henry’s worked and his chute opened, gliding him safely to the ground, but that wouldn’t be the case for his wife. Jane pulled her cord but it didn’t release, so she pulled the emergency cord. Nothing happened and she looked up at Henry and said, “You won’t get away with this!”

Henry just blew her a goodbye kiss and laughed as his wife plummeted to the ground to her death.

Jane’s death was ruled an accident and Henry put on a good show of being a grieving husband, but Henry’s wife’s so called accidental death would come back to haunt him. Henry started having dreams about his wife coming back from the dead to get revenge.

Henry’s lover that he wanted to marry was beginning to think Henry was slowly losing his mind, and that’s when his lover was having second thoughts about getting married, but Henry reassured her that he may be a little paranoid about the death of his wife, but he wasn’t crazy. She decided to hang in there for now. Henry told her that he was going skydiving with some of his Airforce buddies and that would help him rid his mind of her death.

Henry met up with his buddies to board a Cessna and he was so excited to see them because it had been since the war that they had all gotten together. But Henry was unaware that there would be a sixth person aboard the plane with them that he wasn’t expected.

As Henry was putting his parachute halfway on to hump out of the plane, he was startled and his parachute fell to the floor. His buddies said, “Henry, what’s wrong?”

Henry responded in terror, “She’s here! She’s here!”

By the time Henry had a chance to say who it was, he fell out of the plane without a parachute and his buddies put on their chutes in hopes of saving him, but their efforts were useless. Henry plummeted to his death, just like his wife.

Did Henry imagine he had seen his wife on the plane because of his paranoia? Or was her ghost really there and she had come back to settle the score? I guess the answer died with him.
