A tranquil abyss flowed surreally by as an astronaut shot out of the universe, with no awareness, tumbling through infinity, far from the furthest stars, and he came to, in a state of disarray, studying light formations.

How had he managed to end up in such a far-out place? Where the hell was he? How could he have survived in such a place?

He felt as though he had fallen through something and he tried to grasp the concept, and where he had been, and he saw the lights surrounding him.

Prologue

First Contact

The Russian scientist stood staggered and dazzled in the shuttle’s interior lights, after he rushed in from the cold dark deadly outer world, breathing heavily in his spacesuit, and shaking as he attempted to seal the outer doors firmly behind him.

The other scientists studied his appearance, and occasionally gave strange tones, and he started to explain the horrors he had encountered outside on the deadly extraterrestrial DP1 world, and what had frantically chased him, and he removed his helmet revealing his pale white complexion and badly shaken appearance, showing them he had encountered something beyond his comprehension, of an immensely deadly diabolical nature, and he shook in terror, barely able to speak, and looked gravely ill.

After the voyages to the Alpha Centauri suns they had finally been exploring other suns and had located the DP1 world, and they had returned to the Earth and brought in many new scientists and members of the original crew, with a military presence, and the exploration teams had started carrying out landings, with the scientists, and planetary cartographers teams, who were exploring their first exo-worlds, and were giving scans, and findings on the world, and of anything unusual, to send back to NASA.

One of the scientists gasped out loud, in horror, searching the Russian scientist’s face, and muttered, “What did you see?”

“I saw something!” he muttered. “It’s hideous! I sensed its existence goes far further back than ours! It’s trapped down here!”

“You saw an extraterrestrial! Down on this desolate lifeless world? There has not been a plant or anything found anywhere! If it had not been for the new scientists we would never have landed, and perhaps even map it! It’s more like the moon …”

“I saw something! I’m telling you! It’s an advanced form of life and highly deadly!”

The other scientist was staggered by his reactions and shrugged.

The Russian scientist bit his lower lip hard, and continued, “Its origins go beyond ours, and it has been undetected by our technology! Our detection methods are inferior and are mainly created and function to discover normal objects, and our investigations are futile!”

The whole crew remained silent considering if he was insane or if they were up against something of their worst nightmares, and capable of destroying them.

DP1 Extraterrestrial

It awoke from timeless dormant states screaming in agony and carrying out its ageless ritual and altering its composition as its tiny dim sun sat on the horizon of its cold dark desolate world and it tried to get energy from it as its formation glowed with powerful bright explosions of energy, blasting about its energy composition, while its fight for survival began.

For the first time in countless centuries its proper existence revived, as it had done for many thousands of years, over and over again, keeping itself in existence, though gradually aging and decomposing, with its dormant states extending, and it felt pain and saw death, and its formation constantly altered as it controlled its individual parts to a degree of individual atoms, stopping itself being destroyed by the colossal environment of the DP1 world.

Its destruction would one day occur and its fight for survival would be over, and it grasped the opportunity to avoid it with all it could muster and formed itself into a normal formation, and it shifted out of its energy chamber into the darkness of the world.

The dead world was unrecognizable now and it was staggered by the dangers it held and as it monitored its formation’s fight to repair itself and it considered how the occurrence could possibly have occurred, and it felt trapped, but felt satisfaction as it repaired major regions of damage to it.

Eventually it was able to alter and gain normal powers, and it managed to adapt more to the surrounding environment, and it shifted into the long black shadows of unknown rock formations like a meddlesome ghost creature lurking around, transforming its shape and appearance.

For a moment it stopped, astounded by something, considering what had happened, and sensed it had been awoken by itself and something arriving on its world, and it was staggered and contemplated the dangers and that it was trapped on the desolate world, with nothing, without any way to leave, without anything else, and it began to contemplate the dangers to the remains of its eternal life and it began to consider how it could survive on the world with what now existed.

It was so ancient it could not even believe it had a beginning, and it suddenly realized it had somehow been contacted by an unknown form of communications from somewhere unknown, and it realized it had not fully grasped the extraordinary outer universe, and that it was trapped on the world with something unknown and it realized it might have to fight to survive further than it had done before and it wondered if it could, and it realized it had been detected, and had to alter to stop it detecting it.

The distant sun glowed as its monster shape shifted through rocks, and it took comfort in its past experiences and existence and its ability to survive, and it stopped to examine something nearby, and a small formation moving by.

It could not explain its existence and it struggled to explain how it even functioned and its strangeness, and it altered its formation to adapt to it and it reformed its colossal energy formation.

Its now extraordinary shaped shadows shifted in the vague sunlight, probing the cold hideous darkness, and it moved on as it studied everything in its surroundings, expecting encounters, as it fought to return its normal detection senses.

It roamed about and it became apparent that the thing it had copied affected it far further than it realized, and it realized it was not just it but its damaged state.

It propelled itself forward its body adapted further and repaired damage and formed more into the thing and its leg formations, and it shuddered frantically testing its senses, and searched for any reactions from the thing and any dangers.

Its monstrous mutated shape shadow silhouetted it as it shifted in the direction of the formation, and its senses and knowledge improved further and it detected other distant formations further away, and it realized the formations took their energy from the consumption of others.

When it saw the thing close up it stopped, hidden in the darkness of a large pile of rocks, watching the strange glowing hills illuminating all around it, as it formed its eyes, and watched shadows stretching out over the world, and it saw it watch it emerging out of the darkness and pile of rocks and stand staggered, and it detected its intelligence as it escaped to survive.

SETI Institute

On its first detection in the early twentieth century the DP1 signal was proven to be of extraterrestrial origins and hidden by various advanced methods, over decades, as it was found to be one of a kind and its origins were not in other galaxies, or in the depths of the Milky Way, or vast solar systems away.

After World War II it was proven be far nearer than previously thought, and its presence was hidden and examined far further than ever before, and checked for a false or parasite sources from terrestrial sources, from satellites, manmade or natural sources, and was the only signal to be classed as a positive artificial extraterrestrial source of unknown origins.

It was hidden away into the twenty-first century, with scientists examining it continuously, and for any signs of alteration, and on the introduction of new technology, but its repetitive pulses never altered or gave anything away.

The signal was detected by others continually and analyzed under the assumption it was an unidentified phenomenon as well as an extraterrestrial phenomenon, but its highly advanced perfectly symmetrical pulsations left them staggered the more they established its properties and significance, with its pulsations beating out through the depths of space.

The commonest assumptions assumed it was a greeting signal/message to other races, and perhaps directly to the Earth, and perhaps put there for humans someday to find and trace its origins, to the world where it came from, which was only properly established in the decades before the creation of the Starship S1.

While human technology created ultimate powerful telescopes they scrupulously searched the DP1 extraterrestrial world with them, and its region of space for signs of life, and for the advanced intelligence that created it.

Astronomers searched the dark barely visible DP1 world with the most highly advanced technology and techniques scrupulously searching for anything, as it was not only the only proper signal found, it was almost at its closest location without being in this solar system, or out in interstellar space, and it was located near the Alpha Centauri suns, which astonished all the astronomers and scientists, and suggested it had been put there for a reason.

IV

Starship S1

Throughout the twenty-first century the world’s biggest and most advanced searches for extraterrestrial civilizations expanded and advanced beyond what was once thought impossible, and even NASA and the SETI institute were superseded in the race to detect extraterrestrial intelligence.

The world’s most advanced and powerful telescopes developed at an inconceivable rate and searched far deeper into the depths of space than ever before, expanding knowledge of the cosmos, anticipating breakthroughs.

They scanned the depths of space thousands of times faster in greater detail than thought possible, while repetitively advancing technology to detect inhabited exoplanets, with highly advanced extraterrestrial life, and explored worlds in the depths of newly discovered galaxies, and sent out messages by new methods to the most compelling, and more frequently, and even into the invisible black depths of space where hidden worlds could exist.

Many millions of worlds were detected, with many believed to have advanced extraterrestrial life and civilizations, but were never entirely proven, and could not be entirely proven until properly physically confirmed, and what was detected was not caused by unknown phenomena, which preceding encounters confirmed on numerous occasions, and even being created by phenomena not existent on the Earth.

Proper methods of exploration of stars and worlds had to be found, and NASA consequently developed their starship engine, and Starship S1 was created from decades of vast technology advances from highly advanced technologies, and from space and scientific agencies, and corporation from all around the globe, investing in twenty-first century star exploration.

The starship was colossal compared to previous space vehicles, and had the most advanced starship crew, engineers, technicians, scientists, specialists in numerous fields, and many needed to test and develop it.

The first voyage to the Alpha Centauri suns tested voyaging to the stars – going from Proxima Centauri, the closest star, to the other Centauri suns – and with other voyages from the Earth to the Centauri suns perfecting star travel, and they were soon ready to start proper explorations of proper worlds, with normal crew members running the starship, and exploration teams made up of astrophysicists, celestial cartographers, planetary geologists, planetary cartographers teams, carrying out exo-cartography, and exo-biologists, and many forms of scientists and specialists, reporting findings and anything unusual back to NASA and the world, with the advanced extraterrestrial scientists and specialists and original crew to be brought in on the discovery of anything, with a military presence if needed, and Starship S1 voyaged out on the world’s first proper exploration of deep space.

First Deep Space Explorations

Chapter 1

Planetary Cartographers

The extraterrestrial sky outside the planetary shuttle was so dark, peculiar, and empty Ripley was sure that the DP1 world was not in the normal universe, or at least on the edge of it, and somehow in some form of warp in space.

He switched on a small light, avoiding putting the larger bright lights on, to see only the interior about his front, and he watched the other vehicle pilot staring out the windows at the surrounding darkness, and into the visible landscape.

The world was so strange to them, and even though it was the first world they had been on the surface of it looked stranger than it should, and barely had a sun.

The world about them was a flat stretch of barren ground full of nothing but space dust and rocks, with no atmosphere.

The planetary cartographer shuttles automatically carried out their programming and functions floating high over the surface of the DP1 world at hundreds of miles an hour, mapping and analyzing everything they could detect, while searching for anything of interest, and any abnormalities, covering a low radius of about a hundred miles, at equal distances apart, with special shuttles flying over mountains and other difficult terrains, mapping the whole world.

Ripley watched Dan, sitting beside him, in the two front pilot seats, and front cockpit, with the other eight members of the crew in the shuttle behind them, examining their equipment and all the readings, and checking the mapping, and he examined Dan for anything unusual, but he saw nothing, except that he was more secretive than he had originally noticed and that he was hiding something, and tried to figure it out.

Normally he would ignore it but the mission was too dangerous, mysterious, and there were surprises everywhere, and he had even wondered if they would return alive to the Earth.

They were the first explorers of deep space and had no idea what they would be up against.

Yet there could valuable life forms on the worlds that could be traded back on the Earth, but he knew that they would be very keen to stop anything illegally getting aboard the starship, in orbit above, and he did see the point, and definitely never wanted anything from the DP1 running around the ship creating unknown dangers, as the world was dangerous, and nobody had even thought anything could survive there.

If anything seriously dangerous got on the Earth, they would have serious problems. Such creatures could inhabit worlds!

Though the encounter by the Russian scientist had been the only encounter, and nothing had been proven, and they had not found anything when they had searched where he had been, and nothing indicated how it could be on the world.

The greatest mystery was why they were on the world, and why when it was discovered they returned to the Earth before arriving at it, and had basically only picked up new crew members, who insisted they had a mission, and why they had hidden backgrounds and careers and seemed to be specialists in extraterrestrials, and some were from the original scientists, who seemed excited at the exploration of the world, and seemed to be silenced and told not to give anything of their mission, and military backup was more surprising as they seemed to be ready to handle their biggest ever mission, and were always well armed on the world.

Colman and Gates were two of the new scientists, at back of the large shuttle, and Rickman and Carter beside them were two of the military backup, and they refused to mix with the others, and stayed at a distance, and only spoke to the others for information.

It was the strangest situation Ripley had encountered, and he sensed something was would happen.

Yet what the hell was there? There was no sign of anything!

“Do think there is anything of value down there?” he asked Dan, trying to get his view.

Dan laughed, and replied, “I have checked a few times. Nothing indicates anything! What do you think? Could there be anything valuable about?”

“There could be diamonds! I wonder how much they would be worth back on Earth.”

Dan looked at him, still amused, with his amused expression, and replied, “Out here! But how could you find anything?”

He ignored him and wondered about what the Russian scientist had claimed he had seen!

How the hell did it get out here in this hellhole? He wondered if it could capture one of the vehicles or sneak on the ship, which was thought to be just about impossible by some of the others.

He realized it could hide in the back of the vehicle – where they kept the supplies. Yet could it get aboard at the speed they were going at?

Suddenly he recalled something Colman had said to Gates, and something about what was there and the Russian scientist being questioned by them aboard the starship and that something about a signal they called the DP1 signal being traced, and he recalled something he had heard from the first voyages and one of the scientists mentioning it, and wondered what the hell it was, as the reaction they gave to it was colossal.

“ What is the main objective of us checking this world?” he silently asked the shuttle’s main computer, to see if it knew anything. |“And who ordered it? As I cannot recall hearing anything of it! ”

“That is an easy one!” Dan silently replied first. “It is to check it because it is out here in this void. It had to be the scientists that wanted it.”

“Where were you when they did it?” he asked.

He just shrugged back, and smiled.

The computer gave an acknowledgment that it had no reply to his questions, and he realized how strange that was as it normally gave some other reply if it did not know, and someone had altered its programming to avoid giving a reply.

They went silent again. He could not recall something and something that had happened, and was sure he was missing something! Something had to have been mentioned somewhere.

He was sure by the earlier reactions from Colman that he had mentioned something, and he continued to search through everything that had happened for clues, and he was sure they never kept such secrets as secret as they claimed.

He then saw an immense ghostly shape in front of them, away over at the world’s horizon, out across a long flat plane, and he saw Dan’s eyes widen, as if he had been waiting on something to occur and it was occurring.

Chapter 2

Shuttle Crash

A tranquil abyss flowed surreally by as an astronaut shot out of the universe, with no awareness, tumbling through infinity, far from the furthest stars, and he came to, in a state of disarray, studying light formations.

How had he managed to end up in such a far-out place? Where the hell was he? How could he have survived in such a place?

He felt as though he had fallen through something and he tried to grasp the concept, and where he had been, and he saw the lights surrounding him.

For a few seconds Ripley was in complete darkness, wondering what had happened, and who the astronaut that shot out of the stars was, and why he had imagined him and his thoughts, as though he had really been there, and felt only metal about him and realized that they had actually crashed, and realized the speed and height they were at and that it should have smashed every bone in his body and killed him and the others, and wondered what had protected them.

An explosion had sent the shuttle crashing down and almost somersaulting over the surface of the world and he was sure it had to be the deep dust and lower gravity on the surface that had cushioned the blow, and as the lights came back on he wondered how it had occurred, and he watched the others recovering from the hard impact.

For a moment he was sure it was deliberate, especially from the reactions of the others when they started checking the occurrence, and he wondered who could have done it, and would have wanted to do it.

Was someone trying to kill them and had gone crazy beyond anyone he had met.

Then he wondered if it was the military presence on the starship and examined Rickman and Carter to see how they reacted, and if they knew anything, and saw nothing but confusion, and just accepted that they had not known.

He remained confused at who could do it! He had not even known that there was a way of doing it to such a machine with such a computer, without it stopping it!

When they got outside on the DP1 surface through the airlock he stood staggered, realizing he was actually standing on another world staring up at a lifeless sky, going across his front to a flat horizon, and he realized he might get the chance to explore worlds with atmospheres, without the spacesuit, and he spotted a star he had been staring at and realized it could very well be the sun and that the Earth could be hidden in its light in its orbit, and he saw how dim the DP1 sun was and like compared to other suns in the galaxy, and how strange it was, as though it had been damaged by something, and he could not believe where he was, and near the Alpha Centauri suns.

It was incredible and he realized that the others wished to check things about them, and the strange surrounding dimness, and even the military agreed, even though it was a rule now to remain inside or near the vehicle, but they wished to check what had happened, and if something had done something, and if the vehicle had hidden damage that they had not detected.

It was so peculiar and empty that he was sure that something was there, and perhaps great danger, and he imagined himself out at the outer limits of the universe, at a most distant point.

He removed a small pair of binoculars and studied the dim DP1 star and for a second thought he saw something and was amazed that anything could actually be there, but realized it was not, and he considered how much danger they were in and if he should stay on the Earth when they returned there and leave it for a while until he grasped what was happening, and how dangerous it was, and if he would survive.

They started to check their surroundings as the others checked the shuttle with lights, and by feeling around regions for damage, and testing and checking things for hidden damage, and searched where they came down and about the area for signs of anything that could have caused it and the vehicle to react as it had.

At first Ripley thought the impact, with the bang, had damaged something, and considered if the shuttle had a hidden defense against crashing down that they had not bothered telling them, and it had fired an explosion in the opposite direction, downwards, to slow the shuttle speed before it impacted, and he realized it was the low gravity and thick layer of dust and the vehicle moving fast forward, but after a short while of checking he realized that they had been lucky and that the shuttle had main defenses that slowed it and stopped and cushioned the blow of the impact.

He felt around where he remembered there was a large outer sidelight, for examining the vehicle in darkness, realizing they had either forgotten or not known about the light, and quickly switched it on, and was surprised at how explosively bright it and the surrounding landscape became, and he stood staggered with the others, all staring around them.

In his imagination the dark surrounding world was close to looking like the moon landscape but in the bright light it looked far different and staggering, and he wondered why. There was something about the place that was different and made it far different than other worlds.

Chapter 3

Extraterrestrial

The DP1 extraterrestrial remained out of its dormant state, carrying out endless alterations as to its composition, remaining invisible in the normal universe, as it raced towards the new shuttle, desperate to get the life forms, without being detected, and the immense energy supply powering the shuttle.

The small cold sun of its dark desolate world was on the horizon and it drew little energy from it, and its shape glowed as powerful explosions of energy blasted through it, as it created more energy.

For the first time it had met other existences and with powers it needed, as for thousands of years, over and over, it had kept itself in existence with vast amounts of methods, though slowly aging and decomposing, with its dormant states extending, and it now even felt pain and the approach of death, and its formation constantly altered as it controlled its individual parts to a degree of individual cells, creating its own energy, stopping itself being destroyed by the colossal environment.

It was sure its destruction could somehow be avoided and its fight for survival would be over, but it needed a vast source of energy and it grasped the opportunity to avoid death and with all it could muster it formed itself into a new formation and shifted over to the shuttle, at a distance it would not be detected.

It had used massive amounts of energy taking control of the shuttle and crew so the shuttle came down onto the world, and the shuttle had nearly been destroyed, and it remained where it was, studying everything it could detect from the shuttle, and the strange life forms, and it thought it recognized something similar had existed many thousands of years ago, but it could no longer recall what it was, and stared out into the darkness of its world.

At times for some reason the cold world was unrecognizable to it and it tried to recall why and what it had forgotten, and it wondered if the world altered from something, and why it had a hard time surviving on it, and it was staggered by its dangers and its formation’s fight to repair damage it had not been fully able to repair with its low energy and it considered how the occurrence could possibly have occurred, and it being trapped on the world.

It eventually used its available energy to alter and gained some normal powers, and it managed to adapt to the surrounding environment once again, and it shifted into the black world and rock formations like a hideous dark ghost creature lurking in the shadows, transforming its shape and appearances, and temporary stopped astounded by the life forms appearance outside the crashed shuttle, and sensed something familiar about them.

It was staggered and contemplated the dangers and that it was trapped on a desolate world, with no other life form, without any way to leave, and the great dangers to the remains of its eternal life and it contemplated it was its last chance.

It closed in on the shuttle sensing they could not detect it and watched, hidden behind large piles of rocks, trying to grasp what was there, and watched the life forms outside the shuttle, and their examinations of the of the damage, and gasped at the power from their lights, and sensed power behind them, and it could not recall seeing so much light being created.

It realized that it might somehow be able to make contact with them by turning itself into a similar life form, and it managed to pick up communications from the life forms communicating by a strange method, and realized they gave strange communication vibrations that they transmitted.

Again it realized it had not fully grasped what existed in the outer universe, and that it was trapped on the world, and realized it might have to fight to survive further than it had ever done before and it wondered if it could.

The distant sun’s shape glowed through the rocks, and it took comfort in its past experiences and existence and its ability to survive, and it stopped to examine everything, and it tried to imagine the place where they came from.

It could not imagine what it was as it never had any information of it and it struggled to explain how they functioned and their strangeness grasped its imagination, and it started altering its formation to one of them, and it reformed its colossal energy formation, and did everything it could to form itself and replicate its brain and consciousness, and gradually started to succeed.

Chapter 4

DP1 Antarctica

While the shuttle approached the DP1 Antarctica Ripley saw the S1 Starship main shuttle coming down and landing in the distance and he had a strange sensation of something was about to happen, and he never knew why, and kept watching ice emerge ahead over the exact south polar region of the world.

The extraterrestrial sky outside the planetary shuttle was still so peculiar and intimidating he put it as a main factor of what was wrong, and he checked the shuttle controls once again for any signs of damage and still saw nothing, or signs there could be a future problem, but the shuttle had come down, and though they found nothing, there had to be something behind it.

After seeing a worried look on Dan’s face he wondered if it was his own reactions affecting him, and he firmly switched off the small interior light and put them in darkness and put on the more powerful headlights under the shuttle lighting the region below them, and he started lowering the shuttle to travel along near the ground, making scientists in the room behind him look out at the world, and he watched them staring out at the surrounding ice and rock, and he wondered how ancient it was.

He checked the geochemical map they had got of the world and the chemical elements and wondered why they were different, and as though the world at one point had been covered with elements from some other celestial body.

The world was so strange to they usually never gave answers to what was there and left things until more was known, and as it was also one of the first worlds they had been at.

The world about them altered and he saw the massive Starship S1 shuttle, where the exact southern pole was, and saw the other shuttles heading towards it, all at accurately spaced positions, still giving out their scans and mapping information, and he realized by communications and conversations that they had not damaged the map by crashing, and had accelerated faster until they had reached their normal position in the group, even though the job would have been done perfectly if they had been the last to arrive.

It was mainly a region of ancient ice, dirt and rocks, without any atmosphere.

The planetary cartographer shuttles automatically carried out their programming and functions floating over the surface of the DP1 world at hundreds of miles an hour, mapping and analyzing everything they could detect, while searching for anything of interest, and any abnormalities, and slowly slowed, and stopped in a perfect circle around the S1 Starship shuttle and waited to be brought in individually through its gateway.

Ripley watched Dan, sitting beside him, in the two front pilot seats, with the other eight members of the crew in the shuttle behind him completing their work, examining their equipment and all the readings, and checking the mapping, and he examined Dan for anything unusual, but he saw nothing, except that he was more secretive again, and that he was hiding something, and he realized he thought there was something wrong.

Suddenly he realized they should have started taking them aboard by now, and gasped, and had a strange sensation he was missing something, and suddenly realized he had turned off the shuttle mission information computer screen, which gave them facts about anything occurring and he turned it on and searched through it and sat back staggered, as there was a large warning message, which appeared earlier, telling them an extraterrestrial had been detected, and he searched through the message trying to discover what it was and where it was but found little. Except a danger warning not to approach the S1 Starship shuttle, and realized it had to be there and that it mentioned its defenses against being attacked had been activated.

It was incredible that they had not directly warned the shuttle pilots or scientists and had only given a computer warning message, and he never fully grasped how serious it was, and he wondered if they would return alive to the Earth.

They were the first explorers of deep space and had no idea what they were up against.

He started to see the mistake they were making exploring the universe, and what could exist there.

Yet he knew that they were keen to stop anything getting aboard the starship and that it could be a procedure to test their defenses, and they had a point, as he definitely never wanted anything alien aboard.

If anything seriously dangerous got on the Earth they would have serious problems. Alien parasites might populate entire worlds and destroy races!

He recalled the Russian scientist had been the only person to claim he had encountered something. Though nothing had been proven, and they had not found any evidence when they had searched where he had been, or on their maps of the world, and nothing showed how it could survive on such a world.

Chapter 5

DP1 Signal

The greatest mystery to Ripley was why they were carrying out the explorations of the DP1 world, and why they had immediately returned to the Earth before arriving at it, where they really only picked up new crew members, including the scientist Colman and soldier Rickman, and he knew that he had to discover it.

So after hours of waiting for something to occur, and while going to his sleeping cubicle, he saw Colman and Rickman secretly talking over their mission, and what was happening, he quickly moved over and began talking to them and asked them about the extraterrestrial.

“Do think there is anything deadly here?” he asked Colman, trying to get his view.

He laughed silently, and replied, “Nothing indicates anything!”

“Just why are we exploring this place? There is nothing here! How much will it cost them?”

Colman looked over at him curiously, still slightly amused, and replied, “You mean you have not even been told why we are down here? We’ve been trained for years for this mission and to investigate the DP1 world!”

Ripley knew the Russian scientist had been with them and he thought about what he claimed he had seen.

How the hell did it get out here in this hellhole? He wondered if it could capture one of the vehicles or sneak aboard the ship, which was thought to be impossible by some of them.

“They never bothered informing us.” Ripley moaned. “Perhaps as they never thought we would find anything.”

“It is thought that the entire starship was built to investigate this world!” Colman replied. “As well others like it! They discovered the DP1 radio signal about a century ago and it was their first proven extraterrestrial origins radio signal.”

“They discovered it as early as the twentieth century!”

“They hid it over decades – especially as it was found to be one of a kind and its origins were not vast solar systems away.”

It was colossal and Ripley knew it was the big one and they had been hiding its existence for a reason, and was staggered that they had not even warned them, even when landing on the world.

“After World War Two it was proven be far closer than previously thought and its presence was hidden and examined far further than ever before, checking for a false or parasite source, from a terrestrial source, from a manmade or natural source, and was the only signal to be classed as a positive extraterrestrial source of unknown origins.”

“Now we may encounter it?”

“It remained hidden away into the twenty-first century, with scientists re-examining it continuously, for any signs of change, and on the introduction of new technology.”

“What did they find?”

“The signal was analyzed under the assumption it was of an unknown phenomenon or extraterrestrial phenomenon, but its highly advanced perfectly symmetrical pulsations left them staggered even further the more they established its properties and significance, with its pulsations beating out through the colossal depths of space.”

“So it could be anything?”

“The most common assumption is that it is a greeting signal/message to other races – and perhaps directly to the Earth – perhaps put there for humans someday to discover and trace the origins of, to this world where it came from, which was properly discovered in the decades before the creation of Starship S1.”

“So have they traced where the signal is coming from?”

“Just before we arrived the signal vanished! We searched this dark empty world with our most advanced technology and we searched for anything we could but we have not found anything, and it looks as if whatever is here is hiding from us, and we have not found anyway to locate it.”

“Even after the Russian discovering something?”

“Correct! There was nothing detected there, and his description of the extraterrestrial was virtually incomprehensible! He clearly had not properly seen it in the dark. Now they believe there is something in one of the shuttles, and it was detected when all the shuttles arrived here, but they were not able to detect where it was, and it now seems to have hidden itself from being detected!”

Chapter 6

Parasite

It remained carrying out endless alterations to its composition, remaining invisible in a state it formed into, to hide itself away in an enclosure in the back of the shuttle, when it had seen the humans, and Ripley and the others, while they had been completing their repairs to the crashed shuttle, realizing they would not accept it as a human, and had remained there as the shuttle had flown up to the Antarctica, staggered at the speed, and realized it could not penetrate the solid almost impenetrable shuttle shell.

Desperate to survive and check out the life forms and their immense energy source, without being detected.

The cold sun of its dark desolate world was on the horizon and it still drew little energy from it, and its shape occasionally glowed as explosions of energy blasted out from its new formation, as its fight for survival continued, and it occasionally examined the shuttle’s power source, without being able to fully examine it through the shuttle shell, unable to grasp if it could even handle such force and discover a way to extract and absorb lower levels.

For the first time it had met others and with powers it needed, which it desired for thousands of years, and it had kept itself in existence with vast amounts of methods, though slowly ageing and decomposing, with its dormant states extending, and it now for the first time it could recall had found a way of avoiding the approach of death, and its formation constantly altered as it controlled its individual parts to the degree of individual cells, creating energy, constantly stopping itself being destroyed.

If it could not get a source of energy it desired it was sure it could alternatively get off the world and go to the world where they came from.

When the Starship S1 main shuttle appeared ahead and other shuttles appeared around it in a circle it had been staggered by the amount of shuttles and the size of the Starship S1 shuttle, and that they had been surely searching the world, and wondered what they wanted there and if they were dangerous to its existence.

It was then it had detected something scanning the shuttles in Starship S1 shuttle and had tried to analyze it but it had quickly changed its formation and had avoided being discovered and had escaped from the shuttle to another, but they had so much power it knew it was in great danger and its fight for survival had begun, but it needed an energy source and it grasped the opportunity to avoid destruction with everything it could muster and it formed itself into a new formation capable of not being discovered at the new shuttle.

It sensed thoughts from the life forms and for some reason the cold world was unrecognizable to them and it wondered why and where they had come from with amazement and it tried to recall something it had forgotten a long time ago about the world, and it wondered if its world had altered from something, and why it had been there and had a hard time surviving on it, and it was staggered by its dangers and its formation’s fight to alter and be restored, and it wondered how it had been trapped on the world.

From what it seen and sensed from the humans it started to realize it could not get aboard but it watched a human leave another shuttle near it and it became desperate and had swiftly left towards it and entered its spacesuit and mind and altered itself into surviving in a place in the human’s mind, allowing the human formation to have its own conscious and not know of its existence.

It lowered its consumption of energy and altered to a near dormant state, and managed to adapt to its new surrounding environment, and sensed and felt the human’s strange thoughts of the black world and rock formations with fascination, and its emotions to it and what it thought it was, and it was staggered and contemplated the dangers of them and that it was trapped on such a desolate hideous world.

It realized it had not made a mistake and it learned more and more of the beings as the human entered its shuttle and communicated with the others, and it realized the mistake it had made of being on the world, and gasped at the power they had, and sensed far more power existed, and it actually recalled something similar somewhere once existed.

It began to realize it had not fully grasped the immensity of things and the outer universe, and what existed there.

Its distant sun glowed more powerfully on a screen and it took comfort in its past experiences and existence and its ability to survive, and it examined everything in the shuttle with fascination, and tried to imagine where they came from.

Their strangeness grasped its imagination, and it examined the other life forms aboard, which the being communicated with, and it gradually started to succeed in understanding what they did and wondered if it would survive.

Chapter 7

Extraterrestrial Confrontation

For a moment Ripley thought something like an explosion had occurred and he searched around him, in the darkness in the shuttle, and about his shuttle pilot seat, and wondered what had happened, and why even the front lights were off.

Eventually he reached up to where a small light with a switch on it was and switched it on, and a small glow confirmed Dan was in his seat asleep.

For a moment the sky over the space vehicle was so peculiar and empty of stars that he was sure that it was not in the universe, or at the outer limits of it, at the most distant point.

He switched another light, avoiding the larger bright light, to see only the interior about him, and he and Dan stared out at the surrounding darkness, and into visible landscape.

He realized how dead the world really was, and like a world without any sun and with a million of light years of empty space between them and the nearest habitable worlds.

White patches of ice gave faint glows and he spotted the S1 Starship shuttle and wondered why they had switched off their outer lights and he tried to recall what had happened before he had gone to sleep, and recalled nothing, and he now saw the world about them as a flat stretch of barren ground full of nothing but ice, space dust and rocks, vaguely resembling some large asteroid.

“What happened?” Dan moaned, waking and trying to see, and woke himself further, as though he had woken from a hangover trying to recall the night before, in wonderment – and he shifted close up to the front window to look out further.

It was strange to see all the scientists asleep, and not in sleeping compartments, with their lights out.

Suddenly Ripley recalled something and falling asleep and was sure the lights had gone out and he realized for some reason they had all gone to sleep, and knew they would have put the lights back on, and realized something had put them all to sleep, and sat staggered by it.

Was it the DP1 extraterrestrial, and where the hell was it?

Ripley could barely think straight. The alien could be anywhere and have done something while they had all been asleep, and he quickly tried to examine the main computer, and if it had been affected by anything and if it had been altered in any way, and checked through the last recordings it had for anything, but only realized it had just been deactivated, and without closing down applications or going into sleep mode, and its energy supply had been turned off.

“What’s happening?” Dan moaned, seeing his worried face.

“Something turned everything off and put us to sleep!”

“With some sort of gas?”

Ripley realized it was the only method that could have been used, unless some other unknown method existed, and he checked the records of the air supply in the shuttle but found nothing, and checked the current air for signs of anything and found nothing, and sat back into his seat confused.

“Perhaps there is some form of energy that can do it?” Dan replied, and started searching for its existence on his computer.

He eventually gave up and sat back in his seat, and they watched the scientists awaken and start activating their equipment, and talking and trying to discover what had happened.

“It could be confidential?” Dan announced silently, and started checked the computer records and communications of other shuttles. “It looks as though all the shuttles have done it! All their lights were off and their communications have just returned! They could have it there to use on us in some circumstances! The only explanation has to be its something to do with the DP1 extraterrestrial!”

Ripley suddenly spotted Colman at the side of his eyes and him desperately contacting someone and using text messages to communicate, avoiding talking and being overheard, and he was sure it was of a confidential nature, and he wondered why he was so worried.

“I’ve checked the S1 Starship shuttle about it,” Dan announced, completing what he was doing. “They do not know what happened! They never went to sleep and their outer lights only went out when it occurred, and they believe the DP1 extraterrestrial attempted to get aboard it and their vast computer defense system prevented it occurring!”

Ripley felt glad it could not get on it, and wondered what the hell it was, and what it was up to, and how deadly it was. Whatever it was?

It had not killed anyone and he was sure it was trying to escape from the desolate deadly DP1 world, and he wondered if they would find it.

Suddenly confidential messages started appearing from the Starship S1 main shuttle warning them that they were enforcing a higher state of security and that any vehicle or person attempting to proceed further forward or damage their defense system would be immediately destroyed, and they all went silent, and all the other shuttle communications stopped as they all realized how dangerous the situation was becoming.

Chapter 8

Extraterrestrial Discovery

The extraterrestrial sky outside their planetary shuttle was now so peculiar and intimidating Ripley sat dazzled and eventually kept checking the shuttle for any signs of damage and still saw nothing, or then signs there could be other future problems, and he wondered what would happen when their oxygen supplies ran out and how they would handle the situation if the DP1 extraterrestrial remained hidden away.

After seeing the worried looks of the others he started to realize he could have finally blown it by being on the mission, and he firmly lowered the interior light level and put on the more powerful lights outside to see the region all about them, making the scientists in the room behind him all look out at the world, and he watched them staring out at the surrounding ice and rock, and he wondered how ancient the ice was as there was nothing really to thaw it.

Suddenly the powerful outer lights dimmed and turned off and it returned to how it was and he realized the S1 Starship shuttle was now controlling the vehicles.

He checked the geochemical map they had got of the world and the chemical elements and wondered again why they were so different and he started searching for it in a greater degree than ever before for signs of extraterrestrial life, structures, or anywhere the DP1 signal could have been created.

If something was there it had to have somewhere or some form of environment where it originated, and it was as though the world at one point had been covered over with elements from some other celestial body.

Other worlds were so strange to them they gave few answers to what was there and left things until more was known, and it was the first world of its kind they had been on.

The geophysical map showed little and a variety of geophysical information and the world looked basically like an asteroid or moon in its interior and he tried to recall what they used to check it, and he recalled the scientists and shuttles had carried out many advanced methods, and gravimetric, seismic, magnetic methods, and carried out many searches, and the world was basically dead, and showed it had little and it confused them all in different ways.

Where the hell was the signal from? Had they located the wrong world?

Suddenly he realized that they might not want them to find it and that someone was covering up the real world!

Perhaps the extraterrestrial was also concocted to cover it up and have them thinking they once were there!

Something he barely remembered about the mission grasped his imagination! Why? He knew he had to grasp it.

Why had they been so secretive about the DP1 world in the first place? Surely people should have known of it! Was the real world and species on it so deadly that they had another plan and never wanted anyone to know of it?

They could be checking it from the starship, and never wanted anyone going near it, and if so they would be desperate to discover what was there, and they could easily have originally found more information than they had given of the real DP1 world and have deciphered the radio signal message.

He realized he had to find out more of what was going on, and what this alien on the world was.

Suddenly Ripley saw the vehicle moving forward and gasped, and wondered if it was the alien and if they would destroy the vehicle, and waited for something dreadful to occur.

Yet he spotted one of the screens, where Dan was staring, and he saw all the vehicles moving towards the S1 Starship shuttle at the exact same speed and he wondered what was going on.

He checked Rickman and Carter as they were the only ones doing anything, and were members of the military, and he saw something else was occurring, and suddenly an explosion of incredible magnitude blasted through the ground and the vehicle, and he searched for damage to the vehicle and out the front window to see if it hit the front, and looked over at all the other shuttles, and saw one further out and nearer to the S1 Starship shuttle than the others, and he saw it had been traveling faster.

The area across its front had been hit by a colossal explosion from the S1 Starship, and it had immediately stopped, and he saw someone in a spacesuit escaping, and rushing out the vehicle, and saw a weapon on the S1 Starship shuttle being aimed at him, but the man in the spacesuit fell over the ground, and shuddered as though something was occurring, and his body was being influenced by something, and Ripley saw something shifting away from him, like a form of energy escaping from him, and it vanished into the darkness of the world.

Chapter 9

Aboard the Starship

Ripley gasped as the DP1 world shot away into blackness on a small viewing screen in his Starship S1 quarters.

He could hardly believe they had left, and it never felt like it as the engines and other sounds, including vibrations and shudders, had been reduced to virtually nothing, and he realized he had finally left the blasted world and was on his way back to the Earth, leaving the extraterrestrial, whatever it was, behind, and he was sure there was a better and proper star system they wished to explore on their next future voyage.

What had been disappointing was the shuttle pilot, J Larsen, that the extraterrestrial had entered the body of never knew much of what had happened, and had only found himself doing strange things, which he even considered to be the effects of the lower gravity and strange environment of the DP1 world.

In fact, he could hardly recall any of what had happened in any detail, and looked as though he could hardly remember who he was, and other basic things. As though someone had wiped particular stuff out of his mind, for an unknown purpose.

It made Ripley shiver thinking of what was out there and what the consequences of it would be.

What Ripley had found out about what had happened had been that the Starship S1 shuttle crew had made the shuttles automatically move closer to it to properly analyze the shuttles with scans to discover what was aboard them, and while doing it they believe the extraterrestrial hidden in J Larsen had felt itself being scanned and detected, when they started to receive signs of its existence, and it attempted to get to the Starship S1 main shuttle before they got anything, and had taken control of the shuttle and J Larsen’s body, and perhaps thought it could enter the giant shuttle and hide somewhere, but had soon seen its mistake and had escaped.

The strangest thing was nobody knew what the hell was there!

Most doubted it even existed, and it was so much like a ghost sighting that some thought it was! What else could exist on such an empty black desolate world?

An ancient ghost of something that once died there long ago!

From what was actually discovered on the DP1 world the mission was a failure, and the world they had set their future extraterrestrial discovery and massive starship project on was empty, and even if the extraterrestrial was on the world it could never have sent the signal out, and their plan of one day announcing the existence of there being extraterrestrials on the world was ruined.

The DP1 world now looked little. It was nothing to what they could do and they now intended to explore the depths of deep space and the universe far further than ever and to find what they wanted, and Ripley was happy with that and intended to one day give accounts of their explorations of the cosmos.

Chapter 10

Vega

The bright blue sky outside the planetary shuttle was so celestial and peculiar and the sun on the horizon so large Ripley was sure that it was somehow outside the normal universe, or at least at the edge of it, and somehow in some form of warp in space.

He slowed the shuttle vehicle speed and saw Starship S1 in the distant horizon, with its huge shape, and checked the interior about him, and he watched the other passenger staring out the windows behind him at the surrounding desert landscape and he was surprised to see sand being blowing up in gusts of warm air, realizing the world actually had air, which was in fact the first world with air they had been on, even though it had a desert and sea landscape all over it and had its extra large sun blazing out, which he had been sure would have made it too warm to go on.

They had to check it to see what was there! They had seen signs of something massive and unusual from the starship, which they were going to investigate, beside the coast in front of them, and he wondered if it was a life form why they could not detect such creatures under the water, where they believe they spotted it, as surely radar and other stuff from the starship could penetrate water and large regions of sea, and check what was in its depths.

The world was so strange after going to the Earth and visiting the Vega star, which was so large and strange, and he looked behind him at its massive star shape on the opposite horizon, and its strangeness made them expect to see many strange things there, and signs of extraterrestrial intelligence.

The planetary cartographer shuttle automatically carried out its programming and functions floating over the surface of the desert world, increasing its speed as it moved over a flat region, and he spotted the sea ahead, and he checked the shuttle analyzing everything it could detect, while searching for anything of interest, and any abnormalities, and he wondered what it could detect going over the water, and if it would even detect something there before they reached the sea.

Ripley watched Dan, sitting beside him, lowering the vehicle’s temperature further and Ripley breathed in the cooler air the vehicle gave out, and he watched the slightly different abnormal makeup the landscape took and he wondered if there was any real difference in the world, other than it’s obvious differences.

The DP1 world had been the most unusual, and was far different from the others, but he was sure they would not have even gone near it and wasted their time at it, and he decided to check the main files on it on the computer and was surprised to discover many of its recorded features had been altered, and he discovered new information had been recently added, as though someone had been at work analyzing it and carrying out some research for some reason.

Some of the others in the shuttle behind him gave reactions to his discovery, and he wondered why, and if he had missed something, and he tried to recall when it could have occurred, and he examined Dan for anything, but he saw nothing, except that he was less secretive and more carefree than before, which was surely their new environment.

They were the first explorers of deep space and had no idea what they would be up against.

There could valuable alien life forms on this and other worlds that could be traded back on the Earth and he knew that they would be very keen to stop anything unlawfully getting aboard the starship, and he wondered if any of them were up to something.

Yet it could be a serious situation if they were as if anything seriously dangerous got on the Earth they would have serious future problems. Dangerous creatures could breed in vast amounts and could kill vast amounts of people!

What was also abnormal was the new crew members they had put aboard the starship, originally only put there to check the DP1 world and extraterrestrial signal, were still aboard the starship and had not been removed.

He watched Colman and Gates, two of the scientists, at back of the giant shuttle, and Rickman and Carter the two DP1 military backup, he watched their strange reactions and noticed that they had started to react again to the DP1 world, and he considered if it was actually just the world they were on or another world near there, but realized it had to be the DP1 world and he could not grasp why.

There had been nothing there and all they found was a few strange encounters!

It was a strange situation and he sensed something was there and would happen in the future.

Yet what the hell was it and what could happen?

“Do think there is anything of value?” Dan asked, looking about at the strange seashore they were arriving at.

He laughed, and replied, “I have checked a few times. None of the instruments indicate anything! That is what they saw from up in orbit!”

Suddenly he gasped as he spotted a massive perfectly made ditch going across an area at the front of the sea, which definitely looked like some form of colossal snake or white worm sea creature had passed along there and entered the sea further along.

Once at it the vehicle landed on the beach sand, at the edge of it and the calm flat sea, and they started getting ready to leave the vehicle, and Ripley checked one last time for any hidden signs of anything around them, and left it again.

Once outside in their spacesuits, with their helmets off, the scientists started checking it, and the air and seawater and taking samples, and digging through the rocks and sand.

“There could be things of value!” Dan announced, as he and Ripley walked along the edge of the strange ditch, examining it and trying to work out what had made it, along the shore.

“I wonder how much diamonds from here would be worth back on the Earth?” Dan asked.

He looked over at him, amused, and started checking the sand and rocks, and replied, “It is pretty hard to tell! We could find one of the scientists that has experience in them and similar stuff, and finding them. Though I don’t think this is the right place, as it does not look like it, and they surely only came here to see this giant mark.”

“I heard one of them believes it belongs to a serpent creature!”

It looked far different than it had on the satellite image Ripley had checked before he left the vehicle, and were no signs of any evidence it could be what they claimed, and he knew they would have problems explaining it was if they claimed it was in their accounts of what was found.

They examined it with everything they had and tried to discover what had created it but could not, and he considered if it could have been made by some cyclone phenomenon or water course forcing its way through there from somewhere, and marched along it until he reached the end and searched around it and found nothing, and put it down to some form of weather phenomenon, but as they left they spotted something massive shifting under the water away out in the sea, which looked as though it had been watching them, and vanished deep below the water.

Chapter 11

Return to DP1

Something startled Ripley and he sat in the shuttle and struggled to grasp what was going on and he focused on the deformed miniature DP1 sun in the sky, which he could barely recognize, and at angles barely resembled any normal star, and he gasped as he studied the worn out landscape!

It was incredible! The whole starship crew had suddenly altered, as they had prepared themselves for the return visit to the DP1 sun, without being told why, and they had left and swiftly shifted into orbit around the small world.

They had to land and check the miniature world again, at a region that looked as though some form of disaster had hit it a long time ago, and he had a hard time grasping why they insisted they had found something!

Yet they knew they would soon discover something!

The world was airless and desolate and he piloted the shuttle, going low over the ground with the other shuttles, closer together now, scanning the area they had been given, mapping and analyzing everything, heading towards something they refused to give them anything about, or even why they were back there, and he gasped at the way they reacted, and why they were so secretive.

Something staggered him about the mission and he sensed something was going to occur, and when he saw something away in the distance he saw Dan instantly react, and all the other members, of their original crew, in the back react one after another, and all he could now do was stare as they directly approached it, realizing someone had put them on the exact route it was located in, and he began to wonder why the nearest two shuttles were visibly away over to the side of it.

He knew he could not avoid it. He had to go through with it! He believed he could survive if he did everything he could and avoided any deadly mistakes!

How the hell did he get there and back in this hellhole? He had considered staying on the Earth when they had returned there, and had only returned to the starship as it was not going to the DP1 location.

Surely it was just another world though! But were there any new dangers? Yet they were exploring where nobody had been, and the deadly environment and hidden dangers! They had hardly explored anything of the universe and its great mysteries and colossal dangers!

Again he suddenly sensed something strange! Something he had not encountered! Something that could only exist in such a place, in such a desolate place, in the depths of space, which might not be able exist near worlds like the Earth, and it gave him chilling sensations, and he sat frozen to his seat watching the area ahead increase in size and he was staggered that he still never recognized anything, and he wondered why they had not just landed them all at it, and eventually realized they surely wanted to check that area as well.

As the shuttle decelerated he increasingly felt a presence of something powerful, somewhere, out in the chilling extraterrestrial landscape ahead, where there was a strange artificial looking hill formation, which he could not grasp the identity of.

In a screen at his front he watched the starship up in the sky in orbit and it looking like the highly advanced starship it was supposed to, and far larger, and what it was designed for, and for the exploration of worlds, and many future explorations of the solar systems.

What was amazing was a large object was buried away in the rubble of rocks and dust and was visible close up if looking for it, with no recognizable features, but he was sure if he had not known there was something at the exact place he would not have recognized anything.

After a long time of observing it they all admitted it had no known recognizable features, and they had little on what it was doing buried away there.

When the astronauts shifted out the shuttle and onto the world’s surface Ripley wondered why they had not found another way of checking it out after their last encounter with the DP1 extraterrestrial at the DP1 Antarctica.

He shifted away from the shuttle in front of the others, marching towards it, still having strange sensations, and as though he was somewhere far more different than he thought, and that it was not just an uncharted desolate region.

It was as though they were entering somewhere else, and making the first step for mankind to something.

Yet he did not know what, and what their next biggest problem would be!

Was there something there after all, which had brought them there, which was ready to kill them all?

Ripley looked back at the shuttle, which now resembled some form of strange vehicle.

His spacesuit’s high temperature and the surrounding view combined to give the impression of it being incredibly hot, instead of incredible cold, and he considered if he was capable of making some form of serious mistake.

All around them they examined things like they were strange new phenomena, and he wondered what the others thought they were discovering.

“Look at all this!” Dan gasped, picking up a strange rock, and none of them could recall seeing before, and he then looked as if he slightly recognized it.

“What do you think is here now?” he asked, curiously. “There’s nothing out here! How the hell did it get here?”

Ripley listened and watched the shuttle crew discussing it in their communicators as they got closer to it, and it became apparent none of them properly knew, and they started examining the region surrounding it and giving facts and their thoughts of it.

It had resemblances to some form of volcanic region and some of the scientists started analyzing and taking soil samples about it, while he inspected what was there and found what looked like a block of perfectly cut black material buried deep in dust covering an area of the ground, and on a closer approach he saw most of it was buried in the ground, and was part of a vast structure below.

They rushed around investigating everything, thoroughly, and started removing dust and rocks, checking out what was below, and some form of extraterrestrial structure, and Ripley realized they had actually found something artificial and at the DP1 world, and gasped silently, as it meant there was something there after all, of unknown origins, and a shiver ran through him as he considered if the source was still in existence, and then considered how long it had been there, and slowly realized it was not just in the rock below but rock was encrusting it like a fossil, and he wondered how many millions of years it had been there.

When all the dust and rocks was cleared away they all stood in a circle around it examining it, silently grasping its deadliness and significance and Ripley felt as though it had some form of life or intelligence, and many hidden powers, and could carry out some form of function, which he wondered if they were even capable of understanding or even detecting.

Many of the scientists believed it could have sent out the DP1 extraterrestrial signal, which the entire starship was built to investigate, and they discussed how to make contact with it.

Chapter 12

Second DP1 World

The DP1 signal was later found being sent from the underground extraterrestrial structure but they were unable to enter it, or reply to the signal, and it was not even proven to be an extraterrestrial first contact signal, but another weaker signal was detected being transmitted from it to a specific region of space, and they traced it to the DP1 region of space and discovered a second DP1 world, it was being transmitted to, hidden away behind the DP1 sun, and by its miniature size.

The world was small and resembled Mars in most regions, but barely had any rotation and a day was about a year long, and it also looked as if some form of calamity had hit it a long time ago.

Ripley had a hard time grasping why they insisted they had found something on it, and he wondered why the discovery of the DP1 signal transmitter was not the conclusion to the voyage.

Yet he had not been altogether disappointed in them when they had given reactions like it in the past, and he knew they would discover something there.

The world was bright and glowing, but like the other world it was airless and desolate, and Ripley piloted the shuttle with his eyes wide open, with other shuttles nearby, scanning and mapping the second world at ground level, just above the ground, and analyzing everything, heading towards something they refused to give them anything on, and he gasped at the way they reacted and why they were so secretive, and that there had to be something the DP1 transmitter was connected with.

Something staggered him about the mission and he sensed something was going to occur, and when he saw something away in the distance he saw Dan instantly react, and all the other members of their original crew in the back react one after another, and all he could now do was stare as they directly approached it, and he again began to wonder why the nearest shuttles were heading away over to the side of the object, but he then watched them slow, going behind him, and alter their course there, and he heard the other vehicles were also going there.

He believed he could survive if he did everything he could and avoided any deadly mistakes!

Surely it was just another world! But were there new dangers they had not confronted? Yet they were exploring where nobody had been, and a deadly environment with hidden dangers!

He suddenly sensed something strange there. Something he had not encountered! Something that could only exist in such places, in such a desolate place, and in the depths of space, and it gave him chilling sensations, and sat frozen to his seat watching a black object ahead increase in size and he was staggered that he still never recognized anything about it or anything, when it started to get closer.

As the shuttle decelerated on its approach he increasingly felt a presence, somewhere, in the chilling alien landscape around them, where there were mounds of sand and golden rocks.

In a screen at his front he the watched the starship up in the sky in orbit and it looking like an advanced starship it was supposed to, and doing what it was designed for and for the exploration of worlds, and many future explorations of solar systems.

What was amazing was the black object, buried away in golden sand dunes, still had no recognizable features, and after a long time of observing it they all admitted it had no known recognizable features, and they had little on what it was doing there, buried away on the world.

When the astronauts jumped out onto the world’s surface Ripley wondered why they had not found another way of checking it out after their encounter on the DP1 world with the extraterrestrial and he just copied the others lifting out oxygen tanks and he shifted away towards the object, and he had a strange sensation and thought that he was somewhere far more different than he thought, and it was not just an uncharted desolate region of space.

It was as though they were entering somewhere else, and not on the world, and making the first step for mankind.

Yet he did not know what would happen or what their next problems would be!

Was there something there that had brought them there, which could even kill them all?

Ripley looked back at the large shuttle, which now resembled some form of strange airplane brought down in a strange desert region, surrounded by bright glowing black rocks, in the bright sunlight, in a cloudless black sky, and he studied the stars and how strange they were, and he examined the strange DP1 sun, and how close and bright it now was, and recalled all the scientists studying it on the starship, as it was the closest position to a sun they had been at, and they had not believed they could get that close to an active star, and to check why the DP1 star was so different.

The surprising thing was his spacesuit’s high temperature and the surrounding view combined to give the impression of it being incredibly hot, instead of incredibly cold and at Antarctica winter temperatures, and he considered if any of them were capable of making some form of serious mistake.

The adrenalin of the crew was visibly rushing, and overwhelming, as they checked their unexplored surroundings, and most realized where they were.

All around them they examined things like they were strange new phenomena, and he wondered what they thought they were discovering.

“Look at all this!” Dan explained, picking up a strange rock, and none of them could recall seeing before, and he then looked as if he recognized it.

“What do you think this object is now?” he asked, curiously. “There’s nothing out here! How the hell did it get here?”

Ripley watched them discussing it with their communicators with each other as they got closer to it and it was apparent none of them properly knew, and they started examining the region surrounding it and giving facts and their thoughts of it.

It looked like some form of strange volcanic region and some of the scientists started analyzing and taking soil and rock samples about it, while he inspected the object and what was there and found what looked like a black block of perfectly cut black stone buried deep in the sand and ground below, and on a closer approach he saw far more of it was buried in the ground than he thought, and had a vast structure below.

They all rushed around investigating everything, thoroughly, and started removing black sand and rocks at its edges and began digging the object out of the dirt, and Ripley realized they had actually found something, and some form of alien artifact, made of an unknown material, of unknown origins, and a shiver ran through him as considered if the source was in existence, and then considered how long it had been there, and realized it was embedded in rock like it was a fossil.

When all the sand and rocks were cleared away from it they all stood in a circle around it examining it, silently grasping its deadliness and significance and Ripley felt as though it had some form of life and hidden powers and could carry out some form of function, which he wondered if they were even capable of understanding or even detecting.

Some scientists believed it could have also sent out the DP1 signal, which the entire starship was built to investigate, and they discussed how to reactivate it.

Yet he knew the signal had been detected from the DP1 world they had mapped, and wondered if it was even connected to it, and wondered how many millions of years the signal could actually have been blasting out across space, and all the worlds and races that could have detected it and turned up to investigate it, and if this object had even been one of them and had been left there a long time ago to communicate with them.

They examined it in detail and half-heartedly observed the rock it was embedded in – while looking out for traces of anything within its layers.

They examined things, as swiftly as they could, clearly running out of air and trying to quickly finish the investigation and find some clue to its origins so they could go away to the shuttle.

They half-heartedly observed sand and rocks while looking out for traces of fossils and small life forms within the layers of ground and he looked for anything from the owners of it.

Suddenly he spotted one of the scientists away over at his side examining strange smashed up rocks, and wondered what had done it, as it looked somehow connected to the artifact, and he watched part of the black artifact shining brightly at the top of it away above his head, and realized the object had somehow altered and had perhaps reacted to their presence.

Suddenly Rickman looked strangely at Colman, and Ripley wondered what other secrets they had been given that they had not told him, and he realized there could be a great deal more and that the mission there had even hidden dangers they were not giving.

He suspiciously examined Rickman, as he was desperately trying not to respond, and he knew the soldier was hiding something that he was not going to reveal unless he had to.

Ripley started to wonder why he had been chosen him for the DP1 mission and started to ignore they wanted him for his experience and for tackling what they had already done, and wondered what was at the bottom of the mission and he sensed there was something strange and unimaginable.

One of the other scientists looked over, and replied, “Perhaps it’s some form of highly advanced probe that they sent here – a long time ago …”

“Yet why is it a black block?” Colman replied firmly. “And how did it become embedded in the rock like that?”

All the astronauts studied it, and its altering appearance.

Ripley shifted in close, and Colman reached out and touched its surface, and he copied him and brushed his spacesuit glove over the object and felt a pulsation from something deep underground, as if it was alive.

Chapter 13

Archeological Find

Something startled Ripley and he looked about the spectacle world stretching out in the bright sunshine, of the dying sun, and he stood fascinated, examining the rugged golden shades over the landscape, realizing he was standing on another world.

He watched starlight beaming from a star on the dark horizon and realized it could Vega, and looked over at the archaeologists working away at the extraterrestrial artifact, checking it and everything about it with fascination and confusion, wondering what it was normally like and how it was made.

He liked archeology, especially thinking of it being done on alien worlds, and liked exploring the past and the occurrences that had taken place.

The world looked like it had been frozen in time, and a fantastic surreal early world, and perhaps older than the Earth, and he recalled why he had once wanted to be a paleontologist.

As he shifted near the object he occasionally examined the stone and debris at his feet and over at what the archaeologists were sifting through, looking for anything of interest, and he watched the sky in a place that he had not examined before, and wondered what existed out there and what other strange worlds there were to explore, and started to realize he was starting to like the galaxy more than ever before, and that he would miss it, and the stars would never be the same again when he returned home, and he realized the difference it was to the other DP1 world.

Ripley realized the archeologists had proven that something was there, buried away below, and saw that the archaeologists had slowed down their operations, and were more interested in the dangers, and as he shifted in close he realized how deep they had got with their digging equipment, which was far more advanced than he had seen back on the Earth.

The golden and white radiances of sunshine blasted out forever over the world, and the suns remained firmly fixed, barely shifting position, and he watched the shadow of the artifact still over a position he had seen, and realized the object had not moved and done anything, since it had previously reacted, and he watched the archeologists moving in heavy lifting gear from a nearby space vehicle, and he studied the vehicle hauling it over, while the archeologists on it used the computers and monitored it.

Chapter 14

Artifact Removal

Ripley watched on with two scientists, beside a group of other major scientists, at the edge of the artifact.

The operation had been less difficult than they had realized, as the object was not embedded in anything below that held it down, or anything else holding it there. It was embedded in rock for a vast amount of time and would have been fully unveiled or buried far deeper if the world had an atmosphere, and the top part looked as though it was fixed pointing at a section of space and many scientists thought it was pointing to where particular stars had been or were, and they tried to detect any forms of signals being transmitted, and the extraterrestrial signal they had detected from the DP1 star system.

Ripley watched the archeologists lifting the object up into the air and over to a flat area of rock, while the scientists and technicians used their equipment to probe it, and gave occasional surprises when they detected the original readings they detected from it, and the vibrations blasting through it, from when it was activated by them.

Ripley watched its full black oblong shape emerge as archeologists washed and cleaned away the dirt and rock with their equipment.

Suddenly he recalled something Colman had said to Gates and something about the DP1 signal being traced, and he recalled something he had heard from the first voyage to the DP1 world, and wondered what the hell it was, as the reaction they gave to it was colossal, and they hesitated even locating it, and making contact, even after all the trouble they had gone to. Yet they actually were trained to handle it if it was dangerous, and to avoid it if they detected certain signs.

What astounded him was many of them thought it was the real source of the signal. Except the signal had clearly been traced to the other DP1 world, and it was still being detected from there.

Yet he was sure they were connected and this one was no longer fully functioning or had deactivated, or it had another function, which was their job to investigate and discover.

Chapter 15

Energy Bubble

Ripley watched with fascination the altering forms of what looked like an entity/life form consistently materializing and vanishing in a giant energy bubble formation floating over the black artifact, as all the scientists there stood crowded around it examining it, gasping and trying to grasp what was there and what it was doing there, and if it was alive, as it looked as though it was, and was something, and they tried to grasp why it had suddenly appeared and what it was intended for.

Ripley noticed the archeologists further away from it, and them, and seemed to be slowly shifting away, and he noted that they had been the ones that had examined it and cleaned it, and had perhaps grasped what it physically could be, while the scientists tried to give scientific theories and explanations, and he was sure they could miss things, but after all his examinations he realized there was little to go on, and everything and the voyage were too new, and beyond anything he had confronted.

The energy bubble was entirely new and he wondered if they were underestimating its powers or if it was just something used by the builders of the artifact for something.

For a moment, to their fascination, which seemed to last minutes, it started to resemble a magical being and look like it was its normal state, silencing all the scientists, and the archeologists seemed to shift far further away, and he wondered what the hell it was doing there, and even why he was there, out in the depths of space searching for advanced extraterrestrials of a diabolical nature, far more advanced and deadly.

He stood considering if it actually had a normal state.

He tried to grasp what it could really be, and why it was there, and realized they never had enough information.

Ripley moved back and gasped at the shape and features it took, which was like a demon that glowed with energy, and altered within hideous energy surges, and he even wondered if it was of a supernatural nature.

Chapter 16

Matter Alterations

The entire region surrounding the artifact was covered in equipment and scientists studying it and the energy bubble, and discoveries made earlier in detailed examinations.

Instruments were being entered into its field, and the scientists reacted immediately when they received results, and concluded that it was something new and far more powerful than they had encountered, and created multidimensional forms in some of its alternations, which they filmed and recorded information on the artifact and energy bubble.

The scientists occasionally gave detailed explanations of findings and what they thought was occurring, and altered equipment or locations of instruments at different regions around the confines of the energy bubble.

Yet even with all the discoveries and research the scientists, technicians never had any explanations of what they were dealing with, and crowded around it loudly discussing it, and considered what they could use the technology and findings on.

Ripley watched on startled, though he had known something unknown would be found from the start, and he had expected it to happen far earlier not knowing of the DP1 world, and he watched it wondering what the hell it was as it was far more different now than he had thought, whatever it was, and he had not realized or heard anything that could explain anything to anyone, and he had deliberately stayed near the leading scientists and main scientists in hope of picking something up.

It looked as though it were rupturing space in a way that played around with something else, and he considered if it was the fabric of space, another universe, other dimensions, or time itself.

He was sure it had properties of altering matter, and they studied it trying to see if it could suspend time. It looked like it was creating alterations in the fabric of space, and he wondered if it could allow a gateway to emerge into the depths of space?

Many scientists from many countries were carrying out numerous basic and complex experiments all around it, using new equipment and ideas, and others were recording things about it in greater detail, and they were sending the information to the S1 Starship up in orbit, and vast amounts of detailed information was being sent and received and mainly for them to analyze things in a far greater degree.

Ripley soon started to realize they had discovered something, or things, and were checking everything out and he believed they would be soon giving their findings, and he wondered what they would conclusively use it all for.

Chapter 17

Dormancy

When Starship S1 had originally left the DP1 world, before going back to the Earth, and then to Vega, the DP1 extraterrestrial had been thrown into the realms of its form of hell, as it realized it had blown its only chance of survival and was trapped on the dead desolate dark world.

Most of its energy, which it had taken from the shuttle before it had left it, was consumed by it returning to where it stayed, and returning into its dormant state, and before it did it even considered losing all its memories of what had happened as it realized that the memories could damage its future existence, and it would never be the same again knowing what existence existed beyond there and that it was trapped there, and it recalled all the thoughts of the man it had inhabited the mind of and decided to keep it, and some of its last thoughts were why it was so familiar and it thought had encountered something like it before a long time ago, and it wondered again why it could not recall anything from then, and realized it had been the damage it had received existing on the world for so long and its energy vanishing.

Going into dormancy was far harder than it could recall ever experiencing, and it even thought it had gone dormant and accidentally stayed conscious.

Suddenly its center seemed to glow like a sun with the energy that it used and it wondered why it was reviving, altering and becoming more powerful, and it realized it had been dormant and was returning to being revived, and it realized how long it had been dormant and it had not been long, and it gasped and wondered if it was damaged or something had happened and that its subconscious senses had detected something to awaken it for, and it began its revival.

It awoke altering its composition as it studied its small cold sun on the horizon of its dark desolate world and it tried to leave its confines, and its shape glowed as powerful bright pulses of energy exploded out, as its fight for survival began once again.

It recalled the painful process of revival, as it had done for many thousands of years, over and over again through the depths of time, and once again felt pain and saw death, and its formation constantly altered as it controlled its individual parts of itself to a degree of individual atoms, stopping itself being destroyed by the process and colossal environment.

It grasped the opportunity to avoid death and survive with all it could muster and it reformed itself into a normal formation, and it shifted out into the endless dark night of the world, in pain and sensing destruction, and sensed something on its world, but not fully as its senses were not working fully, and it realized if the life forms had returned it could consider handing itself over to them as it was the only way it could properly survive and it was sure they would keep it alive and study and learn from it.

The cold world was unrecognizable to it as it recalled thoughts of the human mind it had entered and it was staggered by its dangers and wondered why its world seemed so dangerous and returned to monitoring its formation’s fight to repair itself and wondered how it had ended up there and it considered how the occurrence could possibly have occurred, and it being trapped on the world, and suddenly felt satisfaction as it completed making major regions of it back to normal from their altered dormant states, slowly returning normal.

It eventually was able to gain normal powers and it managed to adapt and it shifted into the long black shadows of unknown rock formations like a form of ghost lurking around, still transforming its shape and appearances, and it considered what had happened, and sensed something again and what had awoken it and what had arrived at its world and it was staggered to fully detect the massive S1 Starship up in orbit, and realized it had passed overhead and it had awoken from its dormancy, and was slowly making its way away into the horizon, and it contemplated the dangers of it and wondered what could possibly happen if it was taken prisoner, but it had to be better than dying trapped on the world.

It suddenly realized it had somehow been contacted by an unknown form of communication from somewhere, which was familiar but it could not identify, and yet it knew it should, and that it had lost memories of it, and it realized it had not fully grasped the extraordinary universe and that it had been trapped on the world with something unknown, and it detected the starship was trying to contact it or something else, which it could not grasp, but it sensed it was why it was there, and it knew it had to discover what was there.

Chapter 18

Planetary Search

The black lifeless sky of the DP1 world outside the planetary shuttle was now so peculiar and different, from the second DP1 world, Ripley was staggered by it, and wondered how dangerous the stars were, and could not believe it was the same world, and had fantasies of it not being in the normal universe.

The shuttle interior about him was dark and the entrance to the scientists at the back of the shuttle shut and all that was visible was the DP1 world stretched across the front of him, and he sensed great danger, and again wondered where the hell the DP1 extraterrestrial signal was coming from and started his procedure of searching with the newly installed equipment, and examined information given by the scientists at the back of the shuttle and from the other shuttles, surrounding the region, and he wondered why they had located it, and why it was not coming from the black structure they had discovered it at on their last visit to the world, where they had located the second DP1 world at.

They had picked up the new DP1 signal at the second DP1 world from the different location and they were carrying out a planetary search at the region it was located at.

They were still monitoring the signal in space in the starship and they were using new equipment to detect its exact location in the shuttles, but nobody knew why it was there.

Where the hell was it? Why was it there? Why were they so keen to find it anyhow, as they had found and had the artifact on the other world, and original structure there, and surely it was enough to achieve the goal they had been trying to achieve?

He watched Dan staring out the window directly ahead and realized he might have seen something and he searched there and at first saw only darkness, but his sight altered to see what was visible Dan saw, but it was still too vague, and he used night vision goggles to look and still saw little and handed them over to Dan to see if he saw anything with them.

The world at there location was so strange and to Dan too, and it looked stranger than it should, and barely like anything they had seen, and Ripley realized again it was the landscape and it was far different from normal and what was should exist, as though it was put there, and he wondered if it was the result of it not having or ever having water and an atmosphere, and he tried to imagine what such a world would be like, but he was sure it originally had water, and he wondered why there was anything at the place and what the hell had been there.

The world about them was crazy and in wild shapes and in an entirely different formation than it should, and even, at angles, looked as if someone had been doing something there and had left, and all he could think of was mining some rare element not found anywhere else, and he realized the DP1 signal or signals could be there to locate the world in deep space from some far distant location, and he considered if they could detect what it was.

It was one of the strangest places Ripley had encountered, and he sensed something he could not grasp, and he recalled first arriving there and him sensing something was there and would happen, and something had happened there and he wondered if the place was haunted or had something else that was far more different than what they had encountered, and recalled the artifact on the other world.

There was no sign of anything anywhere, and he tried going through everything he had seen and the encounters.

“What the hell do you think is here?” Dan moaned, with frustration, trying to grasp something.

He realized Dan had changed since their arrival, and replied, “I have checked … Nothing indicates anything. What do you think? Could there be anything here that warrants the costs of this voyage to this place?”

“There could be! There could also be jewels and other valuable stuff too! I wonder how much it would be worth on the Earth.”

Suddenly, as he was staring out, examining the approaching landscape, he realized something was occurring behind them, at the back of the shuttle, and Dan followed his eyes as he looked behind him into the darkness there, and they grasped the scientists were all having excited conversations, and that they were getting louder, and realized they had found something but he could not grasp what as they seemed to avoid saying anything.

Dan stared over at him, excited by the sudden action, with an amused expression, and replied, “What’s here?”

Ripley recalled what the Russian scientist had recently claimed he had seen, which he had added things to, realizing he had not explained enough, and Ripley recalled what he had seen and they had encountered at the DP1 Antarctica.

“How the hell did anything get out here in this hellhole?” Dan continued, trying to grasp something, and perhaps some little detail he had missed.

Ripley eventually concluded by the loud voices of the scientists behind them there was something near there and realized they should perhaps slow down and he realized he should check what was happening and rushed into the back of the shuttle, where he saw most of the scientists standing having excited conversations, and he spotted Colman and Rickman looking the most excited, and getting louder, and he rushed over to them.

Colman and the soldier Rickman were talking about their mission at the world, and what was happening there, and he quickly entered the conversation.

“Is there anything here or what?” he asked Colman, trying to get him to say something.

Colman gasped silently, and finally replied, “The equipment indicates it!”

“What could it be?” he replied, trying to grasp what.

Colman looked deep into his eyes, slightly amused, and replied, “We have been trained for years for this mission and to investigate this world! And checking the extraterrestrial signal … We have detected the structure sending the real signal …”

“The real signal!” he gasped, and Colman nodded back in agreement, and showed his satisfaction.

Ripley realized their mission could be completed.

“They discovered the DP1 radio signal about a century ago and it was their first proven extraterrestrial origins radio signal!” Rickman continued. “We are probably the first shuttle and people to detect the source!”

Ripley realized that it could be the big one and that they had just discovered it and the story could be all over the newspapers back on the Earth, and he was staggered, and realized they could be at the point where the source was and the extraterrestrials were located, and realized the others wanted them to investigate it first before the other shuttles, and he realized it could be dangerous, and they could be making a first contact situation.

Chapter 19

Extraterrestrial Contact

What was incredible was for some reason they were now able to detect the exact source of the actual DP1 contact signal source to the Earth, directly ahead of the shuttle, and they had not contacted the other shuttles, even after requests had been sent, and there was to be no new landings from Starship S1, and they wanted further information first, and they were acting as their probe.

Ripley knew there would a large amount of people on the starship watching and monitoring everything that occurred, and Ripley knew he would be the chosen one to lead the investigation, and he sat back into his seat, in the darkness, next to Dan watching the landscape shift along, wondering what could go wrong and what the hell was there, which they had tried to solve for well over a century with human technology.

The black lifeless sky and world outside the planetary shuttle was so peculiar that Ripley’s senses seemed to heighten and he felt staggered, and again considered how dangerous it was searching for extraterrestrials in the stars and he was sure something dangerous could occur, and he considered if a war could occur, with them being attacked, and he wondered why they were so sure they could stop them.

The signal dramatically increased in strength as they approached the zone and he listened to its pulsations on a device, searching for any abnormalities and alterations, and was fascinated that they insisted something of great size and power was creating it, and that the signal was not being sent to someone else, for another reason.

It was the only signal to be classed as a completely positive artificial extraterrestrial source, of unknown origins, and to be hidden away right into the twenty-first century with scientists re-examining it continuously, for any signs of change, and on the introduction of better technology.

“What did they find?” Dan finally asked.

“They found new stuff about the signal with it being so close up and it has highly advanced perfectly symmetrical configurations, and some things are pretty staggering, and they’ve been able to study it far better on the starship and have established more of its properties and significances …”

“At the location ahead?”

“Yes! They have detected it ahead! The most common assumption assumed – and assumed throughout history – since its discovery – is that it’s a greeting signal/message to other races – and perhaps even directly to the Earth – perhaps put here for humans someday to discover and trace the origins of, and to this world, which was only properly discovered in the decades leading to the creation of Starship S1.”

“So have they traced where the signal is exactly coming from?”

“Just before we first arrived at the DP1 world the signal vanished! We searched this dark empty world with our most advanced technology and searched for anything we could but we never found anything, and it looked as if whatever was here vanished, and was perhaps hiding from us, with our massive starship in orbit over the world, and backed up by the fact the signal returned when we left …”

“So someone could even be here watching us right now …”

“I believe the signal source detected the starship and had a way of hiding itself from potential attacks and dangerous encounters, and it could be allowing us to approach it, on our own, and some of the scientists are sure it could have a way of hiding itself or protecting itself or whatever if it’s confronted with a dangerous situation, and perhaps is going to make contact with us in its own way, avoiding a confrontation with us.”

“It could even be the other way round! It could be wanting us on our own for a reason?”

“Correct! They still have little information on what’s actually here, and all their scans show little.”

“Anything else?”

“There was nothing really detected at the source, and the signal and meaning of the signal itself at this range is still virtually incomprehensible! What it is and why it is on this dark empty world has not been identified. Now we have to find out what the hell it is and why it wants to meet us!”

Chapter 20

Extraterrestrial Source

The cold sun of the dark desolate world was on the horizon and Ripley studied it with amazement, and its incredibly small size, and that it was just a large bright star, giving little energy, and its vague illumination did little, and again he was unable to grasp what could be on the world.

The signal was blasting out from ahead as they approached it at a slow speed, searching the landscape, dimming and illuminating the front lights, but they still saw little, but they shifted the vehicle to where the signal was detected and it was increasing in strength.

Ripley gasped, realizing the situation, and that they were about to make contact with another race for the first time and he was the main representative of the group and human race, and he was amazed how keen he was to do it now, and he would actually be marked in history like the first astronaut to step on the moon, and he realized the voyage would be a success.

When the signal hit a really high peak he saw something on what looked like a small hill directly in front of him, and when at it he stopped the vehicle, and they sat staring out and he increased the power of the lights, and saw what looked like a cavity in a hill, and wondered why there was nothing but the cavity, and properly examined it for the first time and saw it was some form of structure covered in dust and rocks and he knew there had to be something inside the cavity, and gasped at what could occur if it was the source and it was nothing, and realized the search for aliens in the universe could be a disaster.

Yet they might find where it came from and a new power and transmission source.

He was surprised to hear the scientists behind him confirm the source was there and that something there had detected them and had scanned the shuttle.

Ripley felt a sudden sensation of shock, which made him shudder! What the hell was it? The thing could be virtually anything! They had no experience of extraterrestrials or anything!

He sat staring out the window, and Dan laughed, and he ignored him, and he thought of the best weapon he could carry and way to defend himself.

Whatever was there had to have detected them as the signal had been stopped, and he wondered if they had robotic equipment that could have carried out the mission.

For some reason the DP1 world was far more unrecognizable to them with it being there and he wondered why and where it or they came from and he tried to recall something he was sure he had forgotten, and as he and the others put on their spacesuits he was staggered by their altered attitude and the deep reactions they gave, and he was glad they were all going with him, but he felt the dangers decreasing and gasped at the surrounding world as he marched out first, and for some reason gasped at what it would be like to be trapped on the world.

As he marched through the thick dust covering the surface he felt a strangeness of something as though something was detecting and investigating them and trying to grasp things about them and could not totally grasp things about them, and he tried get what whatever it was, and it would be like if it lived and survived on the world and was adapted to its mind-boggling environment, and he started to succeed in understanding what they should do and he wondered if it would fight to survive against them if it was threatened by them.

For a moment Ripley thought it knew them and recognized them and wondered what he was dealing with, as he and the others behind him approached the hill structure, where he found the signal was coming from, and he searched around it with his light, in the darkness there, and Dan shifted up to him holding a beeping device and pointed it at various places about the hill structure searching for the signal, and a higher beep, and located a point and they marched over to it, with others behind them, and when they arrived at the exact point they were surprised to find the cavity, going deep inside it, and they stood pointing their lights inside its interior searching for anything, and where it went, and if it would collapse on top of them.

Eventually Ripley ducked down and entered it and shifted along it with his helmet light beaming out, analyzing the strange rock it was made of, and he was surprised at how different it was and it had formed differently by some means, and he started to become surprised at how perfectly straight it was, going on in, and tried to grasp how such a structure would be created in such rock, and wondered what the hell the signal was doing there and if it was in fact of alien origins.

At the end of tunnel he crawled out into a large cavity and stood examining it and realized it was artificial but made in a strange way, almost as though designed to be disguised and he thought of the massive creature mark they found on the world near Vega, and if some life form had once lived there, if the world had been habitable and supporting life.

He stood with Dan searching it trying to locate anything there.

He searched for the DP1 signal and located it at a point on the opposite wall and strolled over to it and started cleaning and dusting away loose dirt and dust with his glove, as the others entered the cavity.

What was peculiar was the way it started crumbling away itself and something artificial appeared behind it and he stood back and watched the rest of the dirt crumble and fall away, as though it had been there for thousands of years waiting to be discovered, and the artificial shape of an object became recognizable and he recognized how advanced it was, and used his device to check where the signal was emerging, as its oblong black box shape became clear, and he detected the exact point directly at the center.

When the object was entirely revealed they all stood in a line examining it, silently, trying to grasp clues to its identity and any form of controls.

It left them confused and Ripley removed a tool from his spacesuit and tried to scratch its surface to see if he could get a sample of the material, but the material was too hard, and he began feeling it trying feel anything he could not see, and jumped back, as something activated, and he felt a silent vibration and movements of something in its interior activating and carrying out some ancient function, and they moved back.

Suddenly dust and rock fell and the front opened out and bright light dazzled and blinded them, and they stood staggered trying to see what was in its brightness, and when it was fully opened out they began to see a shape of a form of life form.

Chapter 21

Extraterrestrial Life Form

In the dim cavity they all backed away and unlike anything they had seen before a hideous slithering blood red devilish shape emerged from the blinding light of the extraterrestrial chamber, and they shifted back faster allowing it to move out further.

As it crept out Ripley examined it wondering if it was it, and what they had come to make contact with, and wondered why it was so different and tremendous and if it was an earlier form of it, which might be used for their purposes – with its blood red demon features, with a giant glowing, altering, hideous shape – and he felt energy surges from it and stood trying to grasp what it was doing – and he realized it was made of some form of energy, and he considered if it was actually keeping itself alive, and even in existence, almost consistently stopping itself vanishing – and he wondered if it did if it would just vanish into nothing, and stood away further when it altered like a distorted grotesque wild animal formation, and he wondered how they were going to communicate with it, and if it even used language.

Suddenly he saw the others react and saw visions around them of star formations flashing about, and he suddenly realized it was making communications with them and showing regions of space, and he wondered how the scientists could record them and if they would show up in the film footage being taken by them from their spacesuits, and he wondered if any of the scientists could identify them if it was not recorded.

It seemed as if it was continuing with a pursuit of an unknown goal and he tried to grasp what, and wondered if it was giving them the location of its real world, as he still could not believe the DP1 world was where it was from.

It seemed to show an exploration through the vast depths of the universe, and he spotted a massive sphere of light glowing around it and he wondered it propelled itself across the blackness of space, and if it could even travel without a starship, like a ghost going through the stars.

They watched in amazement as suns shot by with increasing density and accuracy and he saw its powers had increased – while transforming itself and existence further from its original pure energy states, to normal space and time states that it encountered.

Space and time suddenly seemed unfamiliar and mysterious, and he felt he never had a full understanding of it, and it searched for a solution to something and all the visions vanished and it altered further and he wondered if they could provide it with energy or something to complete its transformation, and if they should as they still never knew how dangerous it was.

He realized how dead the world really was, and a world without a sun, and he wondered how it even got any energy there, and they ignored it and started their investigations of the chamber it had been in.

Chapter 22

Deadly Encounter

Had the DP1 extraterrestrial that had been at the DP1 Antarctica been there, and where the hell was it now?

Ripley could barely think straight! The two extraterrestrials could be anywhere and have done something while they had all been asleep, and he quickly tried to examine the main shuttle computer, and information from his spacesuit, and if it had been affected by anything and if it had been altered in any way, and he checked through the last recordings it had for anything and he only realized it had been deactivated by DP1 extraterrestrial when it took the other extraterrestrial from the cavity.

“What’s happened?” Dan moaned, seeing his worried face.

“Something stopped and erased the computer recordings and put us to sleep!”

“The DP1 extraterrestrial? What do you think it has done?”

“It took the other extraterrestrial we found!”

“Perhaps it used some form of energy to put us to sleep?” Dan replied, and started searching for its existence on his spacesuit computer, and anything that might be detected.

He eventually gave up and stood looking at the empty chamber, and he watched and listened to the scientists activating their equipment and test it for damage, and talking and trying to discover what had happened to them.

“It never killed or damaged us?” Dan announced silently, and started checking records, and communications of other shuttles. “It looks as though all the shuttles have nothing on it! The starship has nothing!”

Ripley suddenly spotted Colman at the side of his eyes and him desperately contacting someone and using messages to communicate, avoiding talking and being overheard, and he was sure it was of a confidential nature, and he wondered why he was so worried, and realized there was a danger of something.

“I’ve contacted the S1 Starship shuttle about it,” Dan announced completing what he was doing. “They do not know what happened! They never noticed anything and their screens with stuff from our computers and cameras only went out when it occurred, and they believe the DP1 extraterrestrial did it.”

Ripley wondered what the hell it was, and was up to, and how deadly they both were. And if they both were connected! Whatever they were!

Sudden confidential messages started appearing from the Starship S1 warning them that they were enforcing a state of emergency and that they had to return to their vehicles and any person attempting to do anything dangerous or damage their defense system would be immediately annihilated, and they swiftly and silently shifted out the cavity, as they realized how dangerous the situation could become.

Chapter 23

DP1 Confrontation

A group of Russian scientists rushed into the shuttle and stood looking more staggered than he had ever seen them, and dazzled by the shuttle’s interior bright lights, and rushed to close the last shuttle door, staring out at the cold dark deadly world, breathing more and more heavily in their spacesuits, and Ripley watched one shaking as the last door shut.

The shuttle scientists were silenced, at the deadliest of the situation, and occasionally gave strange replies, and the leader of the Russian scientists started trying to explain the horrors they had encountered in English of the deadly extraterrestrial world, and what chased them frantically there, almost killing him, and finally completely removed his helmet revealing his deep pale cold complexion and shaken reactions, while describing to them what they had encountered, almost beyond comprehension, of a deadly diabolical nature.

The DP1 extraterrestrial had been nearby, and they were sure it was somehow monitoring them and their communications, and had a more solid form than it had at the DP1 Antarctica, and they believed it was able to alter its form, and had the other extraterrestrial with it.

Ever since they had located the DP1 world they had troubles, and the exploration and landings had been hard because of the world’s environment, with the celestial cartographers and planetary cartographers teams having to carry out far more work, but it was worth it to achieve the results they wanted, and the artifact discovered on the other DP1 world had allowed them to achieve their goal and they were starting to use the highly advanced technology they discovered from it, and had given scans, maps, and findings of it and the worlds, and of anything unusual, back to NASA, with a new form of message transmission that could arrive far faster than the starship itself, and there were suggestions of a new starship engine being built.

“What is happening?” one of the shuttle scientists gasped, searching his face.

“It’s hideous! It’s trapped down here!”

“So you saw the DP1 extraterrestrial?”

“We detected it and confronted it! We believe it’s a highly advanced form of life and highly deadly!”

They stood staggered by his reactions, and waited.

“So what did it do when it was discovered?”

“It attacked us!”

“It tried to kill you?”

“It got in the shuttle when we returned and entered the shuttle! It started destroying the shuttle … We escaped with it after us!”

Everything in the shuttle turned silent as they reacted to their reactions and they waited for its appearance and attack, and something of their worst nightmares.

Chapter 24

Underground Chamber

The DP1 extraterrestrial was monitored from a distance, and they began their proper examinations of the chamber the second extraterrestrial had been in, while archaeologists examined the tunnel, cavity, and surrounding region.

Ripley’s attention was gradually drawn away from the two extraterrestrials when they remained where they were and the excitement of the scientists and archaeologists at the chamber and he eventually stopped listening to their excited communications and went through the tunnel to the chamber, wondering what the hell was there.

It left him confused and when he arrived they were all around the chamber looking confused, and none of them said anything, and he sensed something had recently happened, and he examined everything trying to spot something, and examined the others in their spacesuits and saw little and recalled the last communications he had heard from them.

To his surprise he realized they were waiting on something to happen and jumped back with the others when something activated and he felt a firm vibration and movements of something going through the rock about the chamber and saw the chamber activating and carrying out some ancient function and he waited, and to his surprise they all turned around and looked at him, and one asked him if he wanted to enter the chamber first and he moved in trying to see what was there, and entered searching it for controls and saw some hidden away, and that they had recently activated them.

Suddenly the whole chamber and outside cavity vanished and deep impenetrable darkness emerged, and dust and small rocks fell over him, and he stood staggered trying to see what was in the blackness, and his eyes slightly adjusted and he began to see a shape of some form of life form, and he slowly moved his hand towards his spacesuit light, but before he did something lifted him and it shifted him away, with nothing visibly holding him, and he felt some force moving him away into blackness, and he realized slowly that it could kill him easily.

He tried to theorize what it was but there was nothing he could grasp! All he saw was strange dark shapes!

When he felt the ground below him and that he had stopped shifting he turned his light on and he focused his dazzled eyes on the dirt covering the ground, vaguely only seeing a colossal dark cavity about him in the distance.

When he moved he hit a boulder near him and fell over sideways, over the ground.

Once back on his feet he examined what he could in the dim light and he saw a large artificial black object resting in the central region of the cavity, which went out and vanished into the distance, into blackness, and he examined what he could properly see, and tried to see the cavity roof about a hundred feet overhead, and it going higher further in, and he gasped and wondered what hell he was looking at, and why they had not detected anything below the world when they scanned it, and realized they had a way of camouflaging it, and showing rock there.

He wondered how they had managed to get the equipment down to build such a colossal underground structure.

The roof was solid rock and he spotted things about that he was sure were keeping it up, and he suddenly realized he might find answers to all their queries, and he started exploring it, and gradually approached the black object, and saw how undamaged it was, and closer in he realized how new looking it actually was, and he traced its sides into the darkness in the distance with his spacesuit glove held out, startled, and realized that he had been contemplating how ancient it was.

As he wondered what to do he gasped and saw something in the darkness behind him appear, and turned with his light going there, and saw the others slowly emerging there, and they turned on their lights, and he watched scientists frantically having discussions and was surprised to learn that they had successfully started scanning below the ground from above, where they had only found rock below before, and were discovering massive structures below the ground everywhere, and were discussing a future program of rescanning the whole DP1 world to properly map everything below the ground.

The cavity in the bright light was colossal and went straight into the distance, but what really staggered him was the black object at the center, as it was immense and bigger than any artificial object he had seen! It was torpedo shaped and he estimated it went out for at least a mile, and he stood with his mouth open for a few seconds, glaring out his spacesuit.

He was staggered and could not understand any of it! They surely could not have put it there? The construction of it there would have taken vast resources!

The extraterrestrials were far more advanced, but he could not grasp why it was on such a desolate world.

He looked for signs of activity everywhere, and how the cavity itself had been created, as the whole lot was perfect with no signs of anything having built it, and tried to imagine the extraterrestrials above creating it.

The scientists examination of the cavity rock became excited and they could not come to an agreement on how it had been made and they used tools to remove chunks of rock, and he noticed some of them had found there was small amounts of air through its atmosphere, and he considered if they could breath it and he wondered where it came from, and noted that they found a far higher temperature.

Whatever it was it had to have perhaps been secretive and he began to wonder if it was some form of weapon.

What the hell was it? It staggered him when he moved along it and thought of the nature of world and extraterrestrials! The place could have been built for atomic warfare!

Could it be an ultimate atomic weapon and doomsday device?

He realized how dangerous the extraterrestrials could be and wondered if they were at war with another extraterrestrial species.

It was far too dangerous and he knew they would have to investigate it far further and clarify many issues.

The power behind it had to be colossal and he gasped when he considered it was to destroy another world!

Some of the scientists found chambers similar to the above chamber in the cavity wall that they were sure were for transportation. He was staggered at his original thoughts of what was on the world, and that extraterrestrials could be further out, and examining them!

Though many things just did not add up! What the hell was it all doing there?

Eventually one of the scientists found an opening into the black object and they all rushed over to it, and stood at it looking into the darkness of its interior, wondering what was there, and Ripley gasped when one scientist announced that the entrance had not been there before, when he checked there, and Ripley shuddered and knew they would have to investigate its interior.

Chapter 25

Black Object

It confused him even more as he did not have a clue what he was dealing with and he had to investigate it, and he would not forgive himself if he never, and for letting a chance of explaining it go.

He was keen to investigate everything of the slightest interest!

While shifting in the entrance hole he sensed the dangers were tremendous!

Light dimly beamed through the hole only lighting a small empty region and he looked about and moved into the darkness further, where dim black shapes became visible, and he activated his spacesuit light and examined weird shapes that he still could not grasp, and grasp the function of, while he listened to scientists outside in his communicator, having excited conversations.

He could not recognize if it was a long room or hallway, or what, and he strolled in slowly, and blindly into it, wearily resting, and got ready to act if confronted and stayed observing the black shapes he came to, while his eyes adapted to the dimness and strange light effects, and he looked about and was surprised it had a look of some form of space vehicle, but far more advanced, even though there were no visible controls, and he even felt the black shape objects, still unable to grasp what they were, and strange curves and lines on the wall, and tried grasp if they were controls.

He was unsure what was stopping him grasping what was there, even though they had not been given anything about anything, and everything they had found out was proving to be different from their assumptions, and he examined the whole object rather than small things.

Materials were new to them and though flexible and soft felt almost indestructible, and he was sure the whole colossal black torpedo shaped object was made to be capable of withstanding tremendous forces.

He jadedly continued feeling strangely shaped black things about his front in the blackness, and smelled a heavy musty synthetic scent in the air, and stale air, while his eyes adjusted, and he blankly stared at places covered in lines and curves.

He considered what would happen if they never achieved their goal and if they would be searching the world for clues for centuries, or the information and objects recovered, and wondered if they would ever receive any answers to what was there, as there could be no information about anything. Surely the object was something, and something that they could roughly guess the use of! The size and value of such an object was tremendous, and he wondered if they could get the thing out of there someday.

It startled him that he could not even grasp the purpose of anything! A curved part of a wall had shapes on it and he tried touching them and seeing if they did anything, but there was no response to anything!

He moved further into another area and observed a dark shape and had a feeling of something being there, like he was being watched by something and he tried to grasp where but could not see anything, and realized there was a slight humming tone and wondered if he had activated something and prepared himself for the outcome, realizing he could have made a serious mistake randomly activating things.

Something lifted him and he gasped, and went stiff, and he wished he never had the blasted spacesuit on as it was stopping him fully grasping the surroundings, and something shifted him away, with nothing visibly holding him, and he felt some force holding him and moving him away into the interior of the black object, and he realized that he could be killed.

He tried to theorize over it but there was nothing to grasp! All he saw was strange dark shapes shooting by!

Was it of military origins? It could be to camouflage the technology and confuse observers!

Everything changed! Thick endless blackness filled his vision and he felt sensations like he was floating through space, and something emerged and opened at his front like an energy curtain, and he felt as if he had entered something strange.

A strange white radiance glowed so dimly that he could not properly see the source.

The floor beneath his boots was not there and an eerie sensation about the place gripped him. Something was not right! He sensed a weird presence, which he had never encountered.

Space formed around him in stages as though he was floating out in deep space, and he was staggered at how it was there, and he watched a bright light floating through the darkness and pass him, and he realized that it had to be telepathically induced or he had been teleported into some region of deep space.

Visions and sounds altered and vanished and visions of space appeared and vanished like something was searching through memories of something, and he was sure something was trying to adapt to him, for him to understand, and some of the sights gave him artificial sensations, which he could not entirely grasp.

He was sure it was trying to give him knowledge of things but he could not understand what, and he watched solar systems flickering by and he realized the black object he was in was a form of starship, with a far different form of propulsion, with mind-boggling technology and powers, with an accuracy and capacity inconceivable, and could travel through deep space in vast leaps, and he watched it voyage across star quadrants and through clusters of stars.

He wondered what they did with it. Why were they on the DP1 world lost out in space? Who had the signal been sent out to, through the depths of space for thousands of years?

He wondered if it was in even a probe of immense proportions, as there was no mention of any life forms.

There were sights of it exploring worlds but nothing showing why. He knew that it had to be for more than what normal probes did. Was it for alien contact situations and or just deep space exploration? Had something made contact with it and that was why the signal was put there, and replying to?

Why had it ended up there, buried deep in the depths of an empty desolate world?

He watched as it all vanished and the normal surroundings there emerged, and he gasped and saw two beings wearing forms of spacesuits, and he froze, and tried to see through their forms of helmets, and watched them remove them, and stood with his mouth wide open, and they stood staring at him, and he was so shocked by the encounter, and deadliness, that it took him almost a minute to realize they were humans, and he tried to identify them, but could not, and the woman definitely was not aboard the starship, and he realized, from the information it gave him telepathically, that they were the inhabitants of the DP1 world and creators of the technology, and they had sent the DP1 signal.
