It was the mid 1980's. Cute, perky Mary Gold Horner seemed destined to be a spinster. With her old fashioned values and no nonsense ways, she might as well have had a sign on top of her head that stated "guys stay away." A typical Saturday night for Mary Gold might consist of a church social, a knitting party or the occasional card game with Krause's, her retired next door neighbors. When the Krause's grandson, Jake Weston, shows up one day with his motorcycle and moves in with his grandparents, it rocks Mary Gold's world. Jake was tall, muscular and handsome. A bizarre incident caused Jake to change his plans for college. With his dark little secret, he leaves the small farm community where he grew up to work his way through the ranks with a union delivery company. In the process, he takes a part time job with a dysfunctional little produce company, leaving him with memories of zany people and even crazier tales. In the meantime he falls in love with the pretty little nerd next door.
