About this book.
I bought a book on drawing “kawaii” cartoon characters (Kawaii is Japanese for cute and there is a whole genre to this style of drawing. ‘Hello Kitty’ and ‘Miffy’ are two classic examples).
One of the characters on the back of the book was a snail. Easy enough to draw, but I started to think about the snail’s shell and how it could be more than just its home. From that idea, I then sketched about 60 different snails and snail ideas. Of those, I have selected forty to make up this collection.

A collection of forty images based around a single idea - what a snail's shell could be used for. The title, Inspiralisation, highlights the premise for this book - one idea can inspire another and the ideas can then spiral off in all manner of directions. The collection is a quirky, funny, and sometimes very off-beat selection of images, all drawn in a 'kawaii' style. As well as being a fun art collection, the intention of this book is simple - to show that anyone can make art without the need for expensive art materials or a founding degree.
