Introduction

This is a free e-book, which provides IELTS students with some free practice of task 1 writing from the IELTS academic writing test. The purpose of this book is to show students how to write 8 to 9 band score answers by guided practice. The theme I have chosen for this e-book is Italy because immediately before I started writing, I had been looking at some old holiday photos from many years ago when I visited Genoa, Milan, and Venice. Thus, while I was writing this e-book, fond memories came to mind. Of course, students from any country can enjoy the free practice in this book. If you are a student from Italy, a special ‘‘CIAO’‘ to you.

This e-book includes 2 interactive model answers and 2 practice tests to enable students to improve their knowledge and awareness of the vocabulary and sentence structures of band 9 model answers. Simply complete the interactive model answers and write an original answer, then compare your writing with the teacher’s band 9 model answer in the answer key. The paragraph format of the answers written in this book should be the model you aim to re-create in your test.

I hope you enjoy the book. Good luck.

Alfred Bookman
