There are long lists of markets for ebooks and many ways to create them. This ebook covers one simple method that works. It’s not the only way and may not be the best way, but they have worked consistently and I used them repeatedly for publishing my ebooks. And, as the title clearly states, you can publish your ebook and distribute it worldwide free. As you read this ebook, you may come up with ideas to improve upon the methods, and you are encouraged to do so. The tools used to create the final manuscript for an ebook are the same as those used for creating a paperback book. Microsoft Word is the most common, and the one I use. There are other word processor and text creation applications that could work just as well including OpenOffice, a free office productivity suite. Since the final manuscript is just the edited version of your book, it’s only the first step in the actual creation of an ebook, the tool you use is not as important as the value of the content. While this book is geared to publishing ebooks with Smashwords, the chapter on formatting Word documents for ebooks will work just as well with Kindle. NOTE: If you plan to sell ebooks directly from your website or blog, Smashwords is the perfect ebook publisher. Since they are an Aggregator, they make your ebook available from all the ebook venues including Barnes and Noble and iTunes. If you have any questions please email me at [email protected] .
