What is a triangle and what is a hexagon? If you have 15 dots in a triangle and there are 6 triangles in a hexagon, how many dots do you have? The illustration above shows some easy ways to organize 15 dots or objects or things? How many ways can you find or think or whatever to organize the 15 items? Can you find other places where these ideas are used? Does this change how you think about the idea/organization of the items/concepts? For example: the parallel lines might be a representation of a dance formation fromas een from above—like for a reel or for a Soul Train dance line, OR they might be an diagram as also seen from above for a marching band at a football game. What other formations might the band do from this point or before to get there? How do you represent this? What else might it be? How many can you find?

How did the Egyptians count in this time period—200 BC to 400 AD?

Fun triangle thing from Dollar Tree store – Icosahedron – a short activity and just play/interaction – both – should be lots of fun…. You can make this yourself if you want—it is equilateral triangles printed on heavy paper/cardstock sort of with tabs to join them. You can make additional pieces as you want, any shaper—like a square. The most obvious thing to make, even though it is not in this time period is a pyramid, even though it is not exactly the correct shape or proportions. What else can you find in Egyptian culture and knowledge that these shapes and forms connect to? Fun as tangrams too if you like them — what else you might be able to do with them or explore ideas using them or similar…

What games did the Egyptians play? What is it like to play them now? Were there games similar to chess elsewhere in the world and when did they start? Want to try some???

Chess/Game Section: chess ideas from notes – include ideas from notes INSERT—Non competitive etc similar play idea from notes – copy from notes – intro to ideas etc similar and history of chess or when it started… – [you look up instructions on internet for how pieces move and rules.] [try drawing your own boards in and then working out each possible move for each peace, possibly two to three moves. This is a very traditional way to learn chess.] This is the board set up with a possible move to try— —- [you see, at this time similar] both sides have made one move. While this is not a legal first move, it will show you some important ideas that can appear later in the game. It is a nice one to start with to look at what might happen and possible responses to it.

What next—a story, drawing, movement—other???
