Escape from PMDD Naturally

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/2in3hqP

PMDD is the short form of premenstrual dysphoric disorder which is an acute premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It affects up to ten percent of women. Some symptoms include excessive depression, anxiety, and moodiness. Although currently a cause for this condition has not been conclusively identified, most researchers and doctors believe it results from hormonal fluctuations possibly combined with pre-existing depression or anxiety. There are several steps you can undertake to improve things.

Good Nutrition is a Good Step

A good first step is to improve your regular eating habits. Look for ways to limit caffeine, salt, alcohol, chocolate, and refined sugar. Controlling these items means reducing mood swings and moderating other symptoms. Seek out healthy substitutes and alternatives. Proper nutrition helps overcome many physical weaknesses and keeps your health fit.

Avoid Tobacco Use

To reduce mood swings and other symptoms, stop smoking and avoid environments with tobacco smoke. In addition to directly helping with PMDD, this will improve overall health as well. If you regularly smoke, find alternatives to smoking such as sugarless chewing gum. An even healthier alternative is to have carrot sticks, celery, or a radish instead of a cigarette.

Eat Small Meals

Throughout the day, have several small meals. This will help maintain energy levels and avoid swings from a big meal entering your digestive system. The meals should be centered round complex carbohydrates while low in fat and protein. Many recommend five or six meals a day for those eating small meals. Be sure that your plan includes a good breakfast as that is the first meal after comparatively many hours of sleep and not eating.

Regular Exercise

Get regular light aerobic exercise. Five times a week, engage in an exercise such as brisk walking. This means at a pace such as “walking with purpose.” Each time, walk twenty to thirty minutes. In addition to relieving stress and helping with hormone levels, the exercise will have other positive benefits on your overall health. Another option to brisk walking is swimming or light exercise in a pool such as walking in the pool.

Sufficient Sleep

Adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep per night. Restorative rest such as this improves overall health and helps moderate stress and mood. During sleep, you are mentally and physically healed and improved. Good sleep will allow the body to restore your health naturally. Sound sleep also functions as an antidepressant that helps alleviate psychological disorders.

Yoga is Useful

Promote relaxation and general good health through yoga. The breathing and poses of yoga lead to stress reduction as well as building core strength and health. Practice yoga several times a week. Be sure to get instruction in proper poses and techniques to get the maximum benefit. An alternative to yoga is Tai Chi.

Chaste-berry has Good Results

Many have reported good results from chaste-berry. Chaste-berry has been shown to reduce swelling, control mood swings, and lower food cravings. Take twenty to forty milligrams per day. Consider dividing this amount into two even doses.

Calcium can Help

Make sure you get about 1200 milligrams of calcium per day. This can come from regular sources in your diet or supplements. This dosage has been shown to reduce symptoms. Good sources of dietary calcium are spinach, kale, soybeans, sardines, salmon, cheese, yogurt, and milk. Beware of overdoses of calcium which may result in Hypercalcemia.

Fix with Vitamin B-6

To help alleviate symptoms, get fifty to one hundred milligrams of Vitamin B-6 per day. Natural sources of B-6 are fish, starchy vegetables such as potatoes, and non-citrus fruits. For added benefit, have some magnesium. About 350 milligrams of magnesium per day is recommended. Good sources of magnesium are green leafy vegetables, nuts, whole wheat foods, and milk.

No One Wants a Sore Throat

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/2in3hqP

Sore throats are a common problem. They often result from the common cold or postnasal drip. They are uncomfortable and can lead cause coughing from the irritation. Most of the time, sore throats can be taken care of at home. Here are some remedies that help.

Salt Water Gargle

Your first choice should be a salt water gargle. Dissolve one half-teaspoon of salt into one cup of warm water. Be sure to use warm water. Gargle and then spit it out. Do not swallow. Repeat several times a day and repeat it more frequently if you have postnasal drip. For added benefit, add one tablespoon of Listerine to the mixture before gargling. Discard any extra and make a fresh batch at the time you will gargle.

Prevent Dehydration

A sore throat and its associated conditions such as postnasal drip can lead to dehydration. Avoid this by making sure you get enough fluids. You should drink two liters of water per day. It may be better to drink warm or room temperature water. Limit alcohol and caffeine as these can act as diuretics. Avoid sugary liquids as these can irritate the throat. Remember that we get water from many sources such as fresh fruits and vegetables, so these contribute towards your two-liter per day quota.

Drink Lemon and Water

Mix one teaspoon of lemon juice with one cup of pure water. Drink several times a day or sip throughout the day. Do not add sugar as this can irritate the throat. Consider having this drink warm or at least room temperature.

Avoid Air Irritants

Stop smoking and avoid environments with tobacco smoke. In addition to a direct effect on the throat, this will improve overall health as well. If you regularly smoke, find alternatives to smoking such as sugarless chewing gum. An even healthier alternative is to have carrot sticks, celery, or a radish instead of a cigarette. Also, avoid the fumes from household cleaners and aerosol sprays.

Warm Liquids

At meal times, have warm liquids such as soups or broths. Another option is hot tea. If possible, drink caffeine-free teas. These can be sipped throughout the day. A third easy option is to mix some pure honey in warm to hot water and keep this handy to have some often.

Keep Things Clean

Wash your hands frequently throughout the day. This is especially important after using the toilet and before meal times. Also, wash your hands after sneezing or coughing. These steps will help reduce the amount of germs in your environment. Consider using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer several times throughout the day or when you cannot wash your hands properly. For added benefit, store the bristles of your toothbrush soaking in a glass with Listerine. This will reduce the bacteria re-entering your mouth and throat from the toothbrush head.

Keep the Humidity Up

Consider using a humidifier in your home. This may be especially useful in the bedroom while you are sleeping. It should be a cool-mist humidifier. However, avoid allowing the room to become too damp or too cold. An alternative to a humidifier is to take a hot shower or sit in the bathroom with a steaming shower. Let the water vapor from the shower provide some humid relief.

Lozenges Can Help

A lozenge can help soothe a sore throat. It can be a change of pace from warm teas and gargles. Look for lozenges that have real lemon or honey. Be mindful of the amount of sugar in the lozenge. For small children, there may be a risk of a choking hazard, so this option should be avoided for them.

Honey, Ginger, and Lemon

Take a half-cup of warm water. Add one teaspoon of powdered ginger and an equal amount of pure honey. To this, add the juice of half a lemon. This combines the wonderful properties of several ingredients. Gargle with this mixture. Repeat at least twice a day.

Sage and Water

Consider making a gargle of sage and water. Just mix one teaspoon of sage with a half-teaspoon of alum. Stir this into one-quarter cup each of warm water and apple cider vinegar. Then gargle with this mixture. Repeat several times daily. One-quarter teaspoon of salt can be added for extra benefit.

Clove Tea

Try having some clove tea to gain the medicinal benefits of cloves. Just mix three teaspoons of powdered cloves in some hot water. Let it steep for several minutes then strain. Drink as often as needed. For added benefit, mix in some licorice root syrup or powder too. An alternative is to let it cool until warm and then use it as a gargle.

Secrets of Younger Looking Skin

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/2in3hqP

Everyone wants to maintain a youthful look. No place is this more prevalent than in the face. We have often heard the expression “Put your best face forward.” This is why having a vibrant, young-looking face is important. Here are some steps you can do to maintain or get younger looking skin.

Be Careful of the Sun

A good first step is to take care of your skin as far as the sun. This is essential for limiting and preventing wrinkles. Wear sunscreen of at least SPF 15, and SPF 30 is preferable. Apply whenever you will be outdoors even in cooler seasons not known for sun exposure. Dress for the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Seek shade or stay indoors between 10 am to 2 pm when the sun is at its strongest.

Do Not Smoke

Smoking causes premature aging of the skin. Smoking causes shrinking of the blood vessels in the outermost layers of the skin. In addition, it reduces collagen and elasticity in the skin. The facial movements needed for smoking -- pursing the lips and so forth -- contribute to wrinkles. If you smoke, find a healthier alternative such as having carrot sticks, celery, or a radish instead of a cigarette.

Treat Skin Gently

Frequent bathing and shaving can wear the skin down. Use warm water instead of hot and mild soaps. This will avoid striping away naturally occurring skin oils. When you shave, use a shaving cream. Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing. This will leave some moisture on your skin. Use a daily moisturizer and ideally, a moisturized with some SPF protection.

Choose a Skin-Healthy Diet

Eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grain foods, and lean proteins. Avoid processed carbohydrates and unhealthy fats. Choose foods rich in vitamin C to promote healthy skin. Some foods to consider are carrots, almonds, oranges, blueberries, grapefruit, pineapple, broccoli, bell peppers, spinach, and kale.

Pay Attention to Stress Levels

Excess stress can lead to premature skin aging and other skin problems. Take steps to control your stress for healthier skin and mind.  Set reasonable limits and make time for things you enjoy. Consider taking up yoga or Tai Chi. The breathing and poses of yoga lead to stress reduction as well as increasing health. Practice yoga several times a week. Be sure to get instruction in proper poses and techniques to get the maximum benefit.

Use a Night Repair Cream

Consider using a night repair cream. These products rejuvenate the skin while we sleep. For best results, choose creams with Retinol, a vitamin, a compound that is an antioxidant. Another good choice is a cream with hydroxy acids. These acids are exfoliants which will help remove old skin and trigger new skin.

Drink Water in Plenty

Drink plenty of pure water. Adults need two liters of water daily. Drinking enough water will keep your skin and body hydrated. Remember that water comes in many forms from fresh fruits and vegetables. When you are dehydrated, your skin will look older. An alternative is a green tea for its antioxidant properties.

Take Proper Rest

Adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep per night. This restorative rest will improve overall health and helps improve skin appearance. During sleep, you are healed in mind and body. Good sleep will allow the body to restore your skin’s health naturally.

Increase Your Vitality through Exercise

Get regular light aerobic exercise. Several times a week, perform some brisk walking. Walk twenty to thirty minutes. In addition to relieving stress, the exercise will have other positive benefits on your overall health such as increasing blood flow, skin elasticity and bringing a healthy glow to the skin.

Effective Home Remedies for Hypertensive Nephropathy

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/2in3hqP

Hypertensive nephropathy is a chronic disease of the kidneys. Patients must be vigilant in their treatment in order to control this condition. Even though the main thrust of treatment is prescribed medicines, the use of home remedies is important to augment and support treatment.

Have a Low-salt Diet

Sodium increases blood pressure as well as causes extra work for the kidneys to remove it from our bodies. So, extra salt means extra strain and work on the kidneys. To avoid this, do not add extra salt to either your food or during cooking. Our bodies need some salt -- about one-quarter teaspoon per day. Most people have several times this quantity per day. Be sure to avoid highly-processed foods, canned foods and juices, and pickled foods. All of these have a high sodium content.

Reduce Eating of Sweets

Diabetes is a main cause of kidney failure. Excess sugar can aggravate blood sugar and insulin levels leading to diabetes or causing it to be worse. When you have a chronic kidney disease, you should avoid sweets and sugar so that your kidney is not further stressed by excess blood sugar and insulin.

Avoid Animal Fats

Maintain a diet of low-fat foods. Animal fats can cause high cholesterol. This can lead to vascular disease which will affect the kidneys. Foods high in fat also will have other traits such as reducing overall health, increasing your weight, and potentially high sodium content too.

Limit Protein Intake

Excess protein is another item which will stress the kidneys. High protein foods such as eggs, meats, and cheese should be eaten in moderation. Choose lower protein alternatives such as vegetables or fruit.

Moderate Exercise

A moderate exercise program is essential. Plan to do moderate exercise about five days of the week. Moderate exercise means doing brisk walking for thirty minutes. Alternately, exercise in a pool such as walking in a pool would also be good. Try to incorporate exercise into your daily activities. For example, walk to do nearby errands instead of driving. Take some stairs instead of elevators or escalators for the whole distance.

Stop Smoking

Quit smoking and the use of tobacco products. Find alternatives to smoking such as sugarless chewing gum. An even healthier alternative is to have carrot sticks, celery, or a radish instead of a cigarette. You will be healthier overall, and your body will thank you.

Avoid Alcoholic Drinks

Avoid alcoholic drinks. If you must drink, limit you use to one drink per day. Alcohol must be processed by the kidneys. Drinking it means extra work for this organ. There are other health benefits of avoiding alcohol too. Try having interesting fruit or vegetable drinks that you make yourself. Canned and bottled juices may have excess sugar or salt.

Choose Low Potassium Foods

High potassium foods are another cause of stress and work on the kidneys. Avoid high potassium foods such as oranges or bananas. Low potassium alternatives are carrots, apples, or blueberries. Sometimes salt substitute products are high in potassium, so read their labels carefully.

Keep Well Hydrated

Your body and kidneys need plenty of water to function well. Do not get dehydrated. Adults need about two liters of water per day. Stay hydrated by drinking pure water, suitable juices, and teas. Some water with a slice of lemon would be great. Having enough water will keep your skin looking younger too.

Effective Home Remedies for Heartburn

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/2in3hqP

All of us will experience heartburns at some point of our lives. The uncomfortable feeling can cause burning sensation. Medical experts say that heartburns are a result of acid reflux which happens when the muscle that passes food to the stomach relaxes. This leads to acid being formed in the stomach and it is released up into the food pipe to create a burning sensation. However, there are some home remedies that will help with heartburn.

Baking Soda Can Stop Heartburns

Baking soda can help the acid reflux because it neutralizes the acid in the stomach. Just mix one teaspoon of baking soda into a cup of water. Drink this water and you will feel relieved. You can drink this as many times in a day but make sure that you do not consume more than seven teaspoons of baking soda in a day. Since baking soda has a high content of salt, excessive consumption can cause nausea and swelling.

Aloe Helps Soothe the Stomach

The juice made from aloe plant will soothe the stomach and ease heartburns because it has anti-inflammation properties. Consider drinking half a cup of chilled aloe juice before having meals.

Chewing Gum Causes Instant Relief

Research has shown that heartburns can be treated by chewing sugar free gum for about thirty minutes after having a meal. Chewing gum will allow more flow of saliva which will dilute the acid or wash it away, thus improving the symptoms of heartburn.

Elevating the Head Makes Sense

The symptoms of heartburns aggravate in the night. The lying down position can bring the acid of the stomach up to the esophagus causing heartburns to worsen. Consider raising your head while sleeping. Make sure you do not lie down within three to four hours after having a meal.

Watch What, When and How You Eat

Consider eating small quantities rather than stuffing food into your mouth. Taking small bites will give the stomach some time to digest food and will not produce excessive acid. Certain food items that are rich in acid like tomatoes, citrus fruits, oily and spicy foods will cause heartburns and should be avoided. Make sure you do not lie down within three to four hours of having food.

Apple Cider Vinegar Cuts off Heartburns

Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it immediately. This drink will prevent heartburns and make you feel better. Try drinking this mixture before every meal or at least three times a day. Make sure you do not drink too many glasses as it can cause heartburns to recur.

Bananas Heals Heartburns

Medical experts say that the antacids present in bananas can fight acid reflux. To prevent heartburns, consider eating ripe bananas every day. You can also eat an apple a few hours before going to bed to prevent heartburns or to relieve the uncomfortable sensation.

Drink Gingerroot Tea

Gingerroot has anti-inflammatory properties that will prevent nausea and heartburns. Consider drinking a cup of gingerroot tea twenty minutes before taking meal. By doing this, you will feel much relaxed. Add few slices of gingerroot into two cups of boiling water and simmer it for thirty minutes. Drink this mixture twenty minutes before the meal to prevent heartburns.

Mustard Neutralizes the Acid

Mustard contains vinegar which has lesser amount of weak acid. The alkaline properties of mustard can soothe the acid. This can be very helpful for strong heartburns. Though it has a very bad taste, the effect it has on heartburns will make you happy. Try having one teaspoon of yellow mustard to relieve the discomfort caused due to heartburn.
