Countrymen, Lend Me Your Ears (To Be Healed)

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

This quote from the Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar starts us on our way to discussing healing ear infections for children. Ear infections can have a variety of causes such as water from swimming or bathing, excessive wax build-up, and other infections migrating to the ear canal. As a parent, you want to take action fast to help relieve the pain in your little ones. If your child has a high fever for more than 48 hours, sudden hearing loss, or neck/facial stiffness, then you should consult a physician. In other cases, here are some home treatments that have been seen to have efficacy.

Warm Ears are Happy Ears

Keeping ears warm is a good first step. Warming the ear can bring soothing relief to the head. It can also loosen wax and other natural blockages. Heat some water in a saucepan or microwave. Soak a washcloth in the water, or fill a hot water bottle. Test the temperature carefully and be aware that temperatures can be harsher on young, tender skin. If using a washcloth, place the washcloth in a plastic bag (e.g. Ziploc) bag. Place the bag or hot water bottle on a bed or sofa. Lay down with the affected ear pressed against the warmth source. Repeat several times a day.

Rest Your Way to Ear Health

The body’s natural systems can do a lot to improve your health. Often, we just need to give them a chance. Rest and take your child’s mind off of their symptoms with a new coloring book or their favorite movie. Any quiet playtime activity will be okay. Consider enhancing the rest time by increasing head warmth by having some hot soup or some herbal tea, such as chamomile.

Out with the Bad, in with the Good

Probiotics help with healing and health. Increase the good bacteria in your body through probiotics. Find yogurt or milk which have not had the active cultures removed. Look for labeling of probiotics on products. Have two servings of probiotics daily at breakfast and dinner. Complement the probiotics with fresh fruits rich in vitamin C such as kiwi fruit, papaya, pomelo, oranges, or tomatoes. Have at least two servings daily.

Garlic to Goodness

Garlic is well known for its antiseptic and healing properties. Add some garlic to your diet to bring these qualities into your body. Eat two or three cloves of garlic daily. Alternately, add some crushed garlic to a warm compress, but avoid getting the garlic inside the ear.

Hydrogen Peroxide Helps

Found at almost every pharmacy in a three-percent solution, hydrogen peroxide is often used for cleaning and sterilizing wounds. Warm a small quantity of hydrogen peroxide by placing the container under your arm, or resting the bottle in a cup of warm water. Lay down with the affected ear upward. Use an eyedropper or small syringe and slowly place the peroxide in the ear.

Lay still with the ear up for about five minutes. The ear may foam from the bubbling action of the hydrogen peroxide. After five minutes, use a clean towel or washcloth to dab the entrance of the ear canal to draw the peroxide out. Next, lay down on your opposite side to allow as much liquid to run out. Repeat as needed over several days.

Apple Cider Vinegar Keeps the Doctor away

We’ve all heard the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Now, use vinegar from apples to help with your ear. Mix a half and half mixture of apple cider vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Soak a cotton ball in this mixture and place it gently like a plug on the ear. Leave this there for five minutes. After, lay on your opposite side to have any excess treatment come out. Dry your ear as thoroughly as possible.

Olive Oil Slides out Dirt

Gently warm some olive oil. Be very careful not to make it too hot. Put several drops of the slightly warm olive oil in the ear. Leave in for several minutes. After that, use a cotton swab very gently to remove oil and any dirt from the ears. Take extra care not to have the cotton swab enter too far or damage can occur.

Eureka about Urine

Some have reported the benefits of using your urine. Mix some urine with a carrier oil such as olive or basil oil. Place two to three drops in the ear. Plug the ear with a cotton ball and rest. This is best done before bed so that it can be left in overnight. Use a bandage to hold the cotton ball in. Repeat several days.

Rice Compress for Restored Health

Boil one cup raw, uncooked rice briefly in the microwave or a double boiler. Wrap the rice in a clean washcloth and tie up the ends. Be careful that it isn’t too hot. Use the wrapped rice as a compress. Keep it pressed against the infected ear. Repeat several times daily.

Brilliant Uses for Evening Primrose Oil

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Evening Primrose gets its name from its yellow flowers which bloom in the evenings, and it’s found growing in North America and some parts of Europe. First Peoples, also called Native Americans, used Evening Primrose as a food, consuming its roots, leaves, and seeds. The Native Americans used parts of the plant for a variety of medicinal purposes such as bruises, hemorrhoids, and sore throats. Oil from the Evening Primrose seeds has large quantity of fatty acids, particularly omega-6 fatty acids. Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) is derived from cold-pressing the Evening Primrose seeds. EPO has several treatment uses.

Taxes & Eczema: How to Fix One of These

The itchy, red rash of eczema occurs in both children and adults. It’s uncomfortable. Medical evidence suggests that Evening Primrose oil helps with eczema. EPO capsules are one option. Depending on the capsules EPO amount, take 1400 to 3000 milligrams daily. Ideally, divide the dose in half; take morning and evening. EPO oil has been applied directly to the skin. Mix one part EPO to four parts of another oil such as jojoba, almond, or coconut. Apply to the skin twice daily.

Afflictions of Nerve Damage

High sugar levels can damage nerves anywhere in your body, but it most often concentrated in the legs and feet. Nerve damage from diabetes is helped by EPO, some research shows. Take 300-500 milligrams EPO daily for 6-12 months to improve symptoms. It will take six months to have some effect against diabetic neuropathy.

Reduce Bone Loss

Osteoporosis is a serious problem especially as we age. Bones can become brittle from loss of tissue. Taking EPO along with fish oil and calcium appears to reduce bone loss. It also seems to increase bone density. Following your EPO regimen should be coupled with cessation of smoking and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption.

Attack Arthritis

Arthritis is painful with swelling and aches in the joints. Reduce the pain and get increased freedom of movement are two top goals of arthritis sufferers. Some studies have shown that EPO is effective in relieving the symptoms of arthritis. Take 540 to 3000 milligrams of EPO daily. For added benefit, consider combining a fish oil supplement with the EPO dose.

For PMS, There is EPO

Need some relief from PMS symptoms? Try EPO. Take 500 to 3000 milligrams of EPO once or twice a month. Evening Primrose oil can help with bloating, headaches, breast tenderness, and cramps from premenstrual syndrome. The omega-6 fatty acids assist with hormone functioning and, in turn, help with a range of symptoms.

Elevated Cholesterol Controlled

Evening Primrose oil has been seen to be effective against high cholesterol. Just take 1.5 to 2 grams of EPO twice a month. High cholesterol does not have many noticeable symptoms, but high cholesterol can lead to strokes and heart attacks. With EPO, cholesterol and triglycerides can be reduced.

Alleviate Breast Discomfort

Many women, often younger women, have pain in their breasts. This manifests as a feeling of fullness, tenderness, and sometimes as burning or itching. For breast pain, also known as mastalgia, one to three grams of EPO should be take one to three times daily. It is believed that women who suffer from breast pain have low levels of fatty acids, and Evening Primrose oil restores the balance.

Alcohol Intoxication Aided

When alcohol is consumed faster than it can be metabolized by the liver, the excess alcohol in the body leads to alcohol poisoning. Taking six 500 milligram capsules of EPO daily for one week has been seen to alleviate mild cases of alcohol intoxication. Be sure to increase consumption of clean water during the weeklong treatment for extra body hydration.

Dry Eyes Dampened

For those with dry eyes, characterized by redness, itchiness, and sometimes blurry vision, EPO has helped. Six EPO capsules should be taken daily for up to six months. During the treatment, avoid cigarette smoke and, if you smoke, quit smoking. This significantly improves the efficacy of the treatment.

It’s My Back, Again (Home Remedies for Back Pain)

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Back pain is one of the most frequent reasons people visit doctors and miss work. It’s a leading cause of disability throughout the world. Symptoms can include muscle aches, reduced flexibility and movement, and pain that radiates throughout the back and down the legs. Fortunately, there are many strategies that can be used at home to address back pain. The back can be tricky, so approach all treatments with a careful eye towards if the treatment makes your symptoms worse.

Massage for Relief

There are many kinds of massage, and some might be the key to relieving your pain. Massage can loosen tense muscles and aid in relaxation. Have gentle massage done to the affected area; increase the pressure and duration of the massage as warranted. Increase the efficacy by using some eucalyptus oil during the massage. Follow the massage by a warming treatment such as a hot water bottle placed at the epicenter of pain.

Yoga and Tai Chi for Flexibility

Practices such as yoga and tai chi, when performed correctly, will increase flexibility and strength. Be careful not to aggravate any symptoms. It’s best to consult a resource, such as a book, video, or instructor, for specific movements for your specific situation. In addition, the benefits aren’t there if the postures and poses are done incorrectly. Once you are prepared in knowledge and proper form, incorporate these movements routines several times a week into your schedule.

Walk for Back Health

It seems so simple that it is often overlooked. Walking, however, is a great way to increase muscle tone and strength lightly. Walking involves many parts of the body so it will help in many areas. Walk at a brisk pace for fifteen minutes daily. For pacing, think in terms of how you would walk “with purpose.” If you can, choose places with clean air such as parks, beaches, and green spaces for your walk. Organize your walking with a friend to support each other.

Don’t Wait on Your Weight

Trimming down a few kilograms means less bulk that your back needs to support. Implement small changes to your diet; avoid sugared sodas and fried foods. Reduce your weight and you back will thank you. To benefit more quickly, combine your diet changes with some daily walking. Reduce or quit smoking so avoid osteoporosis.

Bridge Your Way to Back Health

Increase your core strength is one way to improve and avoid back pain. Bridge is an exercise easily done to increase muscle strength. Lie down on your back with your knees bent. Raise your hips off the floor and hold for three deep breaths. Relax to the starting position, then repeat. Perform the bridge routine three to four times a week. Increase the number of repetitions as your body’s strength improves.

A Plank a Day

Strength and flexibility are keys to improving and maintaining your back. Another way to aid in core strengthening is the plank. Lay on your stomach. Raise up so that your body is supported by your knees and forearms. Keep your head and neck aligned with your back; place shoulders above your elbows. Hold this position for three deep breaths. Relax and then repeat. Perform this plank routine at least three times a week. Add repetitions to the routine as your health improves.

Ginger Brings Balance to Your System

Use the healing and health-promoting effects of ginger to improve your back. Cut half a dozen thin slices of ginger root and place them in one and a half cups of water. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 15 minutes. Then stir in some honey. Allow the mixture to cool to a normal warm drink temperature, then drink. Some people prefer to strain any ginger pieces out before consuming it. Drink this ginger tea mixture three times a day for a week.

Epsom Salt Mixture for Health

Epsom salts have been around for a long time. They are a healer with history. Mix Epsom salts with some hot water to make a thick paste. Soak a clean towel in the mixture. Wring out excess liquid. Rub and dab the salt mixture on the affected area. Then place or wrap the towel around the area too. Alternately, add two cups of Epsom salts to your bath. Soak for at least thirty minutes.

Milk for Back-Supporting Calcium

Your body needs calcium for strong bones and muscles. Making sure you have enough calcium will go a long way to helping with backaches. Drink one glass of milk daily. Add a dab of honey to the milk to sweeten it.

Best Remedies for LBP – Lower Back Pain

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Lower back pain, or LBP, can be very debilitating. The back is one of our most important body parts, and often it is ignored or overlooked until there is a problem. Pain in the lower back can take many forms from something localized to the back itself to sciatica, which originates in the lower back and leads to involvement of parts of the legs in your pain. There are several treatments you can do for lower back pain. Often this is not one single cure, but it is a process of trying several different strategies in combination.

Freeze Pain out of Your Lower Back

When lower back pain strikes your first thoughts should be towards cold. A cold pack reduces inflammation. It slows down nerve impulses and muscle spasms. Use some ice in a sock or a package of frozen food, such as peas, wrapped in a cloth. Apply the cold pack for twenty minutes several times a day.

Keep on Trucking

Bodies were built for movement. Don’t avoid movement, but limit yourself to what you can do. Start with daily activities such as household tasks and chores. Move slowly at first. As you improve, expand the range of activities that you do. Add walking, swimming, or moving supported by water in a pool. Build up your back strength and you will be both improving conditions now but preventing future episodes.

Stretching is Excellent

Often hamstrings and muscles are tense and tight. These overly wound components can lead to problems or exacerbate conditions. Stretch your hamstrings twice daily. Lay on your back and bend one knee towards your chest. Bend the other leg and place that foot on the floor. Place a rolled-up towel around over the sole of your foot.   Grasp the towel ends, one in each hand, and slowly straighten your leg out towards the ceiling. Hold the stretch for several minutes, then switch to the other leg to stretch it.   Repeat twice daily.

Stay Cognizant of Your Posture

Posture can have a big effect on pain. Monitor your posture when you are seated. Use straight-back chairs and do not slump. When doing physical labor, lift with your legs; not your back. Be sure not to twist or turn your back while lifting heavy objects.

Bone Health is Key

Support your back by keeping bones strong and healthy. Quit smoking because it leads to osteoporosis. Consider drinking one glass of milk daily for a calcium boost. Bone strength will serve you well in the long term.

Reduce the Load on Your Back

Many people do not consider the strain of the load of their bodies. Extra weight means extra work for the back. Lowering your weight will help your back because it will need to work less to support your body. Avoid fad quick-fix diets and instead, make small changes in your eating habits to reduce sugars, fats, and excess carbohydrates. Incorporate brisk walking into your daily life for a boost towards your diet plans.

Restorative Rest is Remarkable

Often overlooked, restorative rest is a wonderful treatment. Sleeping well at night allows the body to repair itself.   Get seven to nine hours of sleep per night. Awaken refreshed with improved health. Proper sleep will do wonder for your back, but will improve your concentration and lead to weight loss.

Hot Compress for LBP

Heat can help until knots in the back. It can reduce aches and pains. Take a hot shower or bath. Use a hot water bottle several times a day pressed against the lower back. Consider alternating hot and cold compresses every other day. If you take a hot bath, soak for thirty minutes. Add two cups of Epsom Salts to the bath water too.

Release Tension with Soothing Massage

Massage can release tension and soothe aches. Massage the lower back, buttocks, thighs, and the back of legs. Use gentle pressure and increase the strength of the massage as needed. Consider using eucalyptus oil or peppermint oil as your massage oil.

How to Attain a New Brighter Whiter Smile

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Nothing says a million dollars like flashing a bright smile. We all want to wow rooms with our energy and vigor from white teeth. But how can this be done at home without costly dental visits? Yellow, dull teeth can seem like a fact of life. However, there are proven ways to increase oral health and get the movie star smile of your dreams.

Avoid Stain Makers

The first step in a brighter smile is to avoid things that stain. Stop stains at the source before they start. Quit smoking and cut back on dark-colored beverages such as colas, coffees, and red wine. A good rule of thumb is to avoid drinking beverages whose spill you would loathe to try to clean out of a light-colored shirt. If you must drink these beverages, consider using a straw to bypass having the liquid pass over your teeth as much as possible.

Follow a Good Oral Hygiene Regimen at Home

In the modern world, there is a wide choice of high-quality dental products to promote oral health. Oral health means a good smile. Brush your teeth two to three times daily, especially after meals and before bed. Use a soft bristle toothbrush combined with whitening toothpaste. Ideally, look for toothpaste that also has fluoride. Position the brush so that its head is at a forty-five-degree angle against the teeth. This will allow the brush to clean where the tooth meets the gums. Before brushing for bed, use dental floss to clean between the teeth.

Regular Dental Visits

See your dentist twice a year for a good cleaning. Dentists have tools and procedures to deep clean the surface of our teeth. The cleaning and polishing the dentist can do will make the surfaces smooth and resistant to stains sticking. The dentist’s vantage point means they can reach, see, and clean areas that would be impossible to do by ourselves. As a bonus, dental cleanings will go a long way to reducing bad breath.

A Homemade Cleaning Paste Packs Punch

Using a homemade cleaning paste puts you in control of the whitening without sacrificing your wallet. Combine baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in a one to two ratio. If in doubt, use more hydrogen peroxide than baking soda. Avoid having the formulation be gritty. Brush with the paste and let it remain on the teeth for one minute. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Make sure all residue of the paste is removed from your mouth. Only use this paste two to three times a week, otherwise the paste can break down your tooth enamel and also increase your teeth’s sensitivity.

Apple Cider Vinegar Mops Up Stains

Apple cider vinegar is well-known for cleaning up around the house. However, it also can do wonders to whiten teeth. Gargle with apple cider vinegar once a day. Incorporate apple cider vinegar into your regular at-home oral care. The whitening effect is not instant. Expect results after several weeks of regular use. Alternatively, mix two parts of apple cider vinegar with one part of baking soda. Gently brush your teeth with this mixture twice a week.

Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil and Peppermint

Coconut oil removes stain-causing bacteria. It is non-abrasive, so it is safe to use every day. Take a small amount of coconut oil and mash some peppermint leaves into it. Rinse the mixture around in your mouth, and then spit it out. The lauric acid in the coconut oil will do the job over time.

Activated Charcoal for a Coveted Whiteness

Activated charcoal has a number of benefits, but it is also good for oral care. Just mix some activated charcoal with a small quantity of water. Charcoal powder is best. Apply the mixture to all tooth surface areas. Leave it on for two minutes, then rinse thoroughly until all the charcoal is gone. The charcoal pieces will bind with stain causing materials. In a pinch, the leftovers from burnt toast can be used instead of charcoal.

Salt Stops Stains and Saves Sparkle

Long known for its clean and antiseptic properties, salt also does wonders for your pearly whites. Mix some salt with water. Then use the paste to brush your teeth. Apply the sale formulation gently so that teeth enamel and gums are not damaged.

Crunchy Foods Bite Back At Stains

Fresh fruits and vegetables can clean the teeth when they are crisp. Try adding two apples a day to your diet. Chew the apple thoroughly to get all the benefit from it. In addition to an apple, other good choices are a raw carrot and broccoli.

Gurgling is Cute in Babies but not Inside Your Stomach

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

If you have had the experience of an upset stomach, you know it is not pleasant. An upset stomach, also called indigestion, is often experienced as a fullness that comes on too soon while eating. It can also be painful, have a burning sensation, and involve nausea. This common issue has many ways to be addressed.

Pace Yourself While Eating

Eating too quickly can cause indigestion. So, pace yourself while eating. Chew your food thoroughly and slowly. Savor your meal instead of inhaling your food. This will give your system time to adjust and process the intake of food. If you start to feel the onset of indigestion, stop eating and slowly get up from the table. Stroll leisurely for a few minutes to allow your movement to help settle the stomach.

Watch What you Eat

Do not shock your system when you eat. Begin with easy, mild foods that are not spicy. Start with dry toast, bananas, applesauce, or rice. You should avoid eating foods that are high in fat, or of a high temperature, or spicy. Consume alcohol in moderation. This is especially important at breakfast when your meal is arriving on empty stomach.

Lowering Weight Means Less Pressure

Excess pounds around your midsection mean more pressure on your stomach. The extra pressure can make it difficult for food to enter the stomach. In addition, it can push stomach acids back up towards your mouth. Gradually reduce your weight to improve your digestion. Your stomach will thank you with better digestion.

Mild Exercise Improves Digestion

In addition to helping lower your weight, regular exercise promotes healthy digestion. A walk at a brisk pace four to six times a week will lead to improvements. Walk for twenty to thirty minutes. Exercise builds your appetite and prepares your system to eat.

Drink Fluids to Overturn Indigestion

Keep yourself well hydrated, especially if you experience vomiting or diarrhea as part of your indigestion. Drink pure water or caffeine-free beverages. Drink the beverages slowly. Drinking too quickly can increase nausea. If you have had vomiting or diarrhea, have some sports drinks which will replenish your body’s electrolytes. The key words here are to sip slowly and have the beverages throughout the day frequently.

Ginger Helps Settle Stomachs

Ginger has long been known to aid with indigestion. It has been reported as a treatment for motion sickness and seasickness. To use ginger on your indigestion, just simmer several slices of fresh ginger in a saucepan with two cups of water. Simmer for ten minutes. Let the mixture cool and then drink it several times a day. Add some honey as a sweetener, if desired.

Mint Juice for Stomach Health

Using a food processor or blender, extract one teaspoon of mint juice. Mix it with some honey. Drink this twice a day for three days. Mint has been used for ages to settle stomachs. Alternatively, consider drinking some peppermint herbal tea.

Cinnamon Solves Stomach Situations

Stir one-fourth teaspoon of ground cinnamon into a cup of hot water. Let it steep for five to ten minutes. Sip it slowly. Drink this tea two to four times a day for two days. As an alternative, use cinnamon sticks. Break the sticks up into chunks. Let them steep in the hot water for ten minutes. Strain the tea afterwards before drinking.

Fennel Seeds Fortify Stomach Health

Using the back of a spoon or a rolling pin, lightly crush two teaspoons of fennel seeds. Add the crushed seeds to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for ten minutes and then strain it. Drink this fennel seed tea two or three times daily for several days. You may sweeten this tea with some honey, if desired.

Say Goodbye to Amnesia and Enrich your Memory

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

Amnesia comes in two types. The first type is characterized by not being able to remember items from the more distant past, and the second type involves not being able to retain new information in the present. In both cases, the best that we can do is to take steps to improve our memory’s function. There are a number of home remedies we can do to improve our memory.

Simple Exercises can Enhance Memory

It’s often overlooked, but incorporating even simple exercise regularly into your routine will yield significant results. Exercise increases the flow of blood throughout your body, including your brain. It reduces atrophy associated with cardiovascular disease and brings oxygen-rich blood to all your cells. A brisk walk of twenty to thirty minutes per day is sufficient. Look for ways to make walking part of your day such as walking to nearby shopping or errands. In low-rise buildings, use the stairways to go up or down instead of elevators.

A Healthy Diet Sharpens Memory

Studies have shown that a diet aligned towards the Mediterranean Diet can sharpen mental acuity. Reduce the amount of red meat you eat and focus more on fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Consume dairy, fish, and chicken in moderation. Use olive oil as your go-to oil of choice.

Liquids are the Engine Oil of Your Mind

You would never drive a car or motorcycle without proper, adequate lubrication. In the same way, our bodies are about seventy percent water. We need to keep well-hydrated for a well-functioning mind. Drink plenty of pure water daily. Vary your beverage choices to include some teas, especially green tea. Drink caffeine-rich drinks and alcohol in moderation.

Embrace Mental Challenges

Like all muscles, the brain will stay toned and in shape when it is challenged. Take on small daily puzzles such as a newspaper crossword puzzle. Other options could be trying new things which range from a different route to work or school. Learn to play a musical instrument, a foreign language, or a game such as chess or bridge.

Stress Reduction Improves Memory

Stress harms memory and mental clarity. Look at activities to manage stress in your life. Consider having yoga or tai chi as a regular part of your weekly routine. Alternately, breathing exercises or meditation can also be beneficial. When stress seems to build up, take a quick break and go for a fast paced walk. Life can be challenging for those with allergies. Allergies can come in many forms and be caused by dust, pollen, or dander to name a few. People with allergies often must find ways to live with symptoms such as sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose, hives, itching, and more. Fortunately, many home remedy steps can be done to reduce or eliminate the symptoms.

Improve your Allergies by Keeping Allergens Outside

Allergies are often caused by dust and dirt from the outside. Reduce your symptoms by keeping the triggers outside your home. When you get home, take off your shoes and leave them near the door. This will prevent allergens on your shoes from being carried throughout your home. Other steps are changing clothes or taking a shower when you arrive home. Wash the allergens off your person.

Screen Out Your Symptoms

When you plan to go outdoors, especially in areas with heavy concentrations of allergy triggers such as dust or pollen, wear a mask. [* Wearing a surgical mask can block out almost 95% of particles. *] This is an especially good option when you are cleaning the house or doing yard work. Those activities can stir up much particulate matter.

Eat away at your Allergies

Some studies have shown that diet can play a role in susceptibility to allergies. Be sure to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet at each meal.    Items to especially consider are tomatoes, grapes, apples, and oranges. Beyond helping with allergies, this will improve your overall health.

A Nasal Rinse Washes away Problems

Clean out your nose with a rinse. Take one-half teaspoon non-iodized salt and a dash a baking soda. Mix thoroughly in sterilized water. Use a nasal bulb or syringe and gently flush the fluid through your nose. Be sure to be well-positioned over a sink or basin to catch the water. Thoroughly clean the syringe or nasal bulb with rubbing alcohol after use. Also, let device thoroughly air dry before your next use.

Drinks can Douse Symptoms

If allergies bring you lots of extra mucus, such as a runny nose or postnasal drip, be sure to drink extra fluids. Stay well hydrated with pure water. Drink an extra two to three cups daily. Vary your beverage choice with hot teas or soups. Hot drinks can have the additional benefit of mild steam and vapors on your nose and throat.

Clean House Clears Symptoms

Make your house into a sanctuary against allergens. Clean regularly to remove dust, dust mites, and pet dander. If you vacuum, use a HEPA filter on the apparatus to remove the maximum airborne particles. Wash your bedding and your pet’s bedding regularly to cut down on dust. Use natural cleaners such as baking soda and vinegar to avoid aggravating your symptoms with chemical fumes. Consider wearing a mask while cleaning, or if you are strongly affected, have someone clean for you.

Use Steam to Tame your Allergies

The vapor from steam can be soothing and help with problems of the nose or throat. Fill a large bowl will very hot water. Drape a bath towel over your head and lean over the bowl. Let the steam rise to give your head a steam bath. Add a few drops of peppermint oil or eucalyptus oil, if desired. Repeat several times a day for maximum effect.

Avoid Fumes

Particulate matter from smoke such as cigarette smoke, fireplaces, barbecues, and aerosol sprays can trigger or worsen allergic reactions. Stay away from these sources. Your lungs and nose will thank you with easier breathing.

Acne comes in many forms. One style is blackheads which form when skin oil is trapped in a pore and exposed to the air. The oil changes to brown or black. Acne typically appears on the face and neck, as this is where the glands that produce oil are primarily found. These home remedies can help.

Washing Removes Oil and Dirt

When you have acne, you want to clean the skin of the affected area to remove oil and dirt. Use mild soaps and cleansers. Wash your face gently and pat it dry. Repeat this once or twice daily. Excessive washing beyond twice daily can irritate the skin and exacerbate the acne problem. Avoid breaking of “popping” pimples. This can lead to worsening conditions and acne scarring. Additionally, be sure to shower and bathe after exercising or any activity that leads to significant sweating.

Use a Natural Skin Cleaner

A cleaner such as Witch Hazel can do wonders for the skin. In a pinch, seek out other natural skin products that use salicylic acid as their active ingredient. Apply the cleaner daily using a cotton ball. At first, your skin may excessively dry out, but after a few weeks, it will reach a balance that is clean and sustainable.

Green Tea isn’t Only for Drinking

Many people know the benefits of drinking green tea. It can also be used to make a facial cleaner. Just mix one teaspoon of green tea leaves with some warm water. Combine so that it makes a paste. Cover the skin with the paste for two to three minutes, then wash off with clean water. An alternative would be to use green tea powder. Repeat two or three times weekly.

Honey Helps with Acne

Honey is known for its many healing properties. Use it on your acne as well. Simply apply pure honey to your face. Let it rest for ten minutes and then gently rinse it off with warm water. Repeat several times a week. The nourishing properties of honey will rejuvenate your skin.

Tea Tree Oil for Your Skin

Tea tree oil has many benefits. Use it to help clear and cleanse your skin. Some studies have shown that gels containing five percent tea tree oil are highly effective against acne. Apply the gel daily.

Zinc Sinks Acne

Some studies have shown that zinc in lotions and cremes is effective. Seek out a lotion with zinc as a significant ingredient. Apply these lotions daily. Although less directly beneficial, increase zinc in your diet can have a positive effect.

Aloe Vera Gel and Wave Aloha to Acne

Some have reported using aloe vera gels against acne. Seek out a pure aloe vera gel instead of one formulated with extra ingredients for sunscreen. Apply the aloe vera to your skin. For added benefit, mix in some tea tree oil to the gel before applying it to your skin.

Baking Soda for Beauty

Baking soda, that all around household cleaner, helps with acne too. Mix whole milk with pure honey in a two to one ratio. Then add some baking soda to make a light paste. Wash your face normally and then apply the mixture. Leave it on for ten minutes and then rinse it off. Use this two or three times weekly. Not only will this clear up your acne, but you will find your skin softer and smoother too.

Easeful Relief from Toothaches

Read more Home Remedies articles: http://j.mp/29NuH7V

The primary cause of toothaches is when the bacteria that live in your mouth generate a plaque that sticks to teeth. The acids from the bacteria eat through the enamel of teeth until the more delicate core of the tooth is affected. Other causes may involve new teeth erupting from the gums (for children or adolescents), build up food debris between teeth or lodged between a tooth and its gum line, or a fracture in a tooth. Here are some home remedies that can help relieve these symptoms.

Saltwater Swish

This is one of the best things you can do while you are waiting for dental treatment. Take some clean, warm water -- warm because your teeth will be sensitive to hot and cold. Dissolve one-half teaspoon of non-iodized salt with one cup of the warm water. Swish the mixture around for several minutes. Spit out the water; don’t swallow it. You can also gently use dental floss around the tooth to try to dislodge any stuck food.

Clove Oil Kills Pain

Clove oil has been shown to be as effective as commercial, pharmaceutical grade pain relievers. Rub some clove oil directly on the painful area. Another option is to soak a cotton swab or cotton ball in the clove oil and use that to apply the oil. Be sure to apply the oil not only to the tooth but also the immediately surrounding gum area.

Cold Can Control Pain

Some studies have shown a link between the hands and tooth pain. Take some ice and rub it at the V-shaped between the thumb and first finger. Choose the hand that is the same side of the body as your toothache. Apply the ice for five to ten minutes. When the hand area turns numb, your pain should be relieved.

A Cold Compress Helps the Hurt

When your toothache is from trauma to your head or face, you can get a toothache. A cold compress can reduce swelling and assist with a fever. [*Gently apply the compress to the cheek near the tooth.  *] Also, get additional rest. Be careful with chewing to avoid more damage.

Garlic is Good

Some have reported that the effects of garlic are beneficial. The liquid allicin from crushing garlic is a disease fighter. Pulverize one clove of garlic and place the paste about the tooth. As another option, use garlic oil applied with a cotton swab.

DIY Hydrogen Peroxide Mouth Rinse

Hydrogen Peroxide is a common item around the house. At home, you can make a mouth rinse by mixing hydrogen peroxide with water and in a ratio of 1 to 5.   Rinse the mixture in around your mouth for up to one minute. Don’t swallow the mouth rinse. Expect foam as that is the natural reaction of hydrogen peroxide. [* Don’t use hydrogen peroxide full strength in your mouth -- it’s too strong for teeth and gums at full strength. *] When you are finished, rinse your mouth again with pure water to remove any remaining hydrogen peroxide.

Vanilla Vanquishes Pain

Another time-honored remedy to stop toothache pain is vanilla extract.   Soak a cotton swab or cotton ball in pure vanilla extract. Gently dab it on the affected tooth and gums. Repeat this several times a day until you get results.

Wheatgrass for Pain Abatement

The elements in wheatgrass provide a natural way to improve oral health. Wheatgrass juice kills bacteria and freshens the mouth. Use some wheatgrass juice as mouthwash. Alternatively, you could just gently chew on some wheatgrass directly.

Salt & Pepper Makes It Better

For pain relief, mix equal parts of non-iodized salt with ground black pepper. Add some pure water to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the tooth and gum area that is aching. Repeat several times a day until you get relief. The two ingredients bring together antibacterial and analgesic properties in one paste.
