Keeps you healthy and slim


This section is about the health benefits of fruit and veggies. However I feel I can’t leave out the miracle plant, aloe vera. Aloe vera extracts have anti-fungal properties that can kill bacteria, fungi and viruses. It boosts the oxygenation of blood, halts the growth of cancer tumors and repairs and renews blood. It also transports oxygen and nutrients to the cells


Aloe Vera and Aids


Aloe Vera has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. A doctor from Texas reported success in treating HIV

and Aids patients, with aloe vera juice. They were treated with a daily amount of pure aloe vera. After six months there were substantial improvements in their health. They had an increase in cell count and a decrease in P24 core antigens. Their immunity had improved and symptoms such as fever, sweats, diarrhea, were either reduced or eliminated. Some patients who had T4 helper cell counts of below 200 got them back up to 800. These patient’s energy levels were improved within days. For HIV Aids patients it is important to have a strong immune system.




Apricots are good for eyesight. Protect against heart disease. They are rich in antioxidants, such as lycopene, that strengthen the immune system. They are also a good source of beta-carotene that protects the body against free radicals and are the cause of diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Apricots contain vitamins A, C, E, potassium and iron. They are good for digestion, as they are high in fiber. Apricots have high amounts of catalase enzymes. Catalase is a protein found, in cells that convert hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. As we grow older the body produces less of the catalase enzymes. Research has been done which suggests that a decrease in the catalase enzymes cause your hair to turn gray.




Asparagus is packed with antioxidants that have the ability to neutralize cell damaging free radicals. Free radicals are the cause of many diseases and cause early aging. Asparagus has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Asparagus contain vitamins A, C, E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and folic acid as well as iron, potassium, phosphorus, copper, manganese and selenium. It strengthens the immune system. Research has found that vitamin K plays a critical role in protecting your heart, preventing diabetes, cancer, and helps build strong bones thereby protecting against osteoporosis. Asparagus is anti-cancer. It contains chromium, a trace mineral that aids insulin to move glucose from the bloodstream into the cells. Good for diabetes. It contains a good source of fiber that prevents constipation.



Contains an antioxidant, lycopene, It strengthens the immune system. It helps prevent cancer, diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer’s. Omega three fatty acids in avocados promote a healthy heart and brain. High vitamin E content neutralizes free radicals and help to reverse memory loss in Alzheimer’s. Avocados contain vitamin A, C, D, E and K, as well as potassium and B vitamins, thiamine, niacin, biotin, riboflavin, Avocados are one of the richest sources of the catalase enzymes, which protect our cells. They also contain vitamin A, which provide good vision. They keep skin healthy and prevent wrinkles and aging of the skin. Bananas contain vitamin C, beta-carotene, and antioxidants that protect cells from damage by free- radicals, which is the main cause of diseases like cancer and heart disease. Bananas contain high amounts of catalase enzymes, which protect our cells.



Eating beetroot regularly reduces blood pressure. Beetroot is a powerful antioxidant. It protects the heart. Beetroot contains a lot of iron. The iron assists with treating anemia. The purple pigment in beetroot, increase and normalize cell respiration. Beetroot protects us against cancer. It is a great liver cleaner. Beetroot contains folic acid.

Bitter Melon


Bitter melon contain vitamin C one of the powerful antioxidants which help to neutralize free radicals that are the cause of diseases and the process of aging. It lowers cholesterol and the risk of stroke or heart attack. Bitter melon contains antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Bitter melon can reduce blood sugar levels. It is used as an herbal remedy for type 2 diabetes. This benefit comes from the juice of un-ripened fruit. This fruit looks like a light green wrinkled cucumber. When it ripens it turns red. It is rich in vitamins and minerals. In Asia it is used to treat malaria and cancer. It is also use to treat fever, colic, flu and to relief menstruation symptoms. Bitter melon contains vitamin A, C, vitamin B, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, as well as minerals such as zinc, manganese, magnesium, copper, potassium and large amount of iron and calcium. Also contain flavonoids such as beta carotene and lutein.

Recent research shows that the plant may be a powerful natural cancer cure.

Pineapple Smoothie

Aids with weight loss


Half a cup of skimmed milk

A half a cup of canned pineapple chunks with juice

Place the milk, pineapple chunks in blender.

Blend until smooth. Add a few ice cubes


Lemon, Orange Smoothie

Aids with weight loss


One cup of skim milk

Half a cup of lemon yogurt

One orange quartered

a few ice cubes

Place ingredients in blender.

Blend until smooth.


Green Smoothies Keeps you Slim and Healthy


Smoothies are quick and easy to prepare for breakfast or lunch.

Regular intake of especially green smoothies will keep you slim

and healthy.


Celery, Kale, Cucumber, Apple

and Spinach Smoothie


One celery stalk sliced

One cucumber sliced

One shredded kale leaf

A handful of spinach

One apple

One cup of apple juice

Place all ingredients in blender.

Blend until smooth.


Spinach, Mango, Papaya

and Banana Smoothie

One cup shredded spinach

One cup mango cut into chunks

One cup papaya cut into chunks

One frozen banana sliced

Half a cup apple juice

Place the frozen banana into blender.

Add other ingredients. Blend until smooth.


Fresh Juice Health Benefits of Juicing


Juicing provides your body with an abundance of nutrients and gives you lots of energy.

Helps with weight loss, fresh juice strengthens your immune system. It is anti-aging and

keeps you mentally alert.


Trying to Lose Weight


To lower your calorie intake, juice vegetables. The green leafy vegetables provide many of

the wonderful benefits of juicing. Unfortunately some vegetable juices are bitter.

Add lemon juice to improve the taste. Use only organic grown fruit


Strawberry, Apple and Lime Juice


Three cups fresh strawberries cut into half

Two apples quartered. One lime

Turn on juicer.

Add ingredients one at a time.

Pour juice into glass.


Orange and Lemon Juice


Two oranges peeled. Half a lemon

Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.

Fill up glass with spring water.


Carrots Apple and Spinach Juice


Two carrots cut into slices.

One apple quartered.

Spinach leaves. Turn on juicer

Add ingredients.

Fill up with spring water.


Orange and Raspberry Juice


Two peeled oranges, a handful of raspberries.

Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.

Fill up with spring water.


Papaya Pear Apple Juice


Half papaya cut into chunks. One pear cut in half.

One apple quartered a sprig of parsley. Turn on juicer.

Add ingredients. Fill up with spring water.


Apple Pear and Celery Juice


One apple quartered. One stalk of celery

One pear cut in half. Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.

Fill up with apple juice.


Carrots, Apple, Pear, Cucumber and Celery Juice


Two carrots cut into slices. One small cucumber sliced.

One apple quartered. One pear cut into half.

One stalk of celery. Turn on juicer. Add ingredients


Cucumber, Beet, Apple, Lemon, and Celery Juice


Cut cucumber in slices. Quarter the beet and apple.

Chop up the four celery stalks. Turn on juicer.

Add ingredients.


Carrots, Papaya and Spinach Juice


One bunch of spinach

Half a papaya

Two carrots

Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.


Celery, Cucumber, Apple


Lemon and Lime Juice

Celery stalks cut into pieces

Cucumber cut into pieces

Apple quartered

Juice of half a lemon

Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.


Pineapple, Carrots and Apple Juice


Three apples quartered. Three carrots

Half a pineapple cut into slices.

Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.


Broccoli and Carrot Juice


Cup of broccoli, two carrots cut into slices.

Two apples quartered.

Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.

Broccoli contains many anti-cancer compounds.


Carrot, Apple and Orange Juice


Three carrots cut into slices. Add two apples quartered.

One orange peeled. Turn on juicer. Add ingredients.


Orange, Carrots and Beetroot Tops Juice


Two oranges peeled. Two carrots sliced.

Half a lemon, beetroot leaves. Turn on juicer.

Add ingredients.


Old But Still Healthy and Full of Vigor


Read about these amazing centenarians. Read their recipe for a healthy long life. What they do seem to have in common is an active lifestyle. Strong family ties and to have a purpose in life. Many grew up in rural surroundings although some moved to towns in adult life. An abundance of organic fruit and veggies were available in rural areas. Some enjoyed red wine or homemade brandy in moderation. Please note, like one small glass a day. This contained resveratrol which is found in red or purple grapes. Resveratrol helps to lower blood pressure and allow a higher volume of blood to flow through your body, delivering increased oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells. They also thought that a sense of humor and laughter was a contributing factor.


Moses Hardy


Moses was born January 1894 in Aberdeen Mississippi. He was the last black

United States veteran of World War one. Moses had eight children. He died December 2006 when he was one hundred and thirteen years old. During his life he was awarded a Victory Medal. He also worked as a bus driver, cosmetics salesman, farmer and deacon of the church. He spend his childhood on a farm with his parents. The Hardy family were deeply religious, and his parents were former slaves. After the civil war they purchased 265 acres in Mississippi. Moses married Fannie Marshall and they had eight children. He attributed his long life to a daily diet of cabbage, butter milk, corn bread, and potatoes. He never smoked or drank in his life.


Joan Riudavets Moll


Joan lived to be one hundred and fourteen years old. He was born in December

1889 and died in March 2004. He rode his bicycle until after he turned one hundred. Joan smoked but in moderation. He attributed his long life to a diet using olive oil, fish, tomatoes and bread. He was a widower that outlived two of his three daughters. And he loved playing the guitar and singing.

Catnip leaves and flowering tops are used. Catnip has anti-bacterial properties. It’s anti-flatulent, which relieves indigestion, colic and nausea, arthritis and rheumatism. Catnip is soothing for bedwetting children. Catnip works by assisting the expulsion of intestinal gas and relaxing muscles.

Catnip contains vitamin A, vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12 as well as choline and inositol. Choline protects the liver and can aid in the reversal of liver already damaged. Inositol helps to prevent panic attacks. Research indicates that inositol may have cancer fighting properties. Minerals in catnip tea, is sodium, manganese, phosphorus and magnesium. Catnip acts as a sedative and stomach tonic.


How to make Catnip Tea


1 tsp dried catnip leaves

6oz boiling water

Pour the boiling water over the catnip.

Let stand for five minutes.

Add honey to taste.


Cayenne Pepper Tea with Lemon Juice


Pepper opens up the arteries to restore normal blood flow to the heart and may help to prevent a heart attack. It also regulates your blood pressure. Cayenne Pepper tea and lemon boost your metabolism and thereby help you to lose weight. Cayenne Pepper and lemon juice both have anti-fungal and immune boosting properties


How to make Cayenne Pepper Tea with Lemon


Place a teaspoon of dried cayenne pepper into a cup of hot water.

Add the juice of half a lemon.

Cover and let stand for three minutes. Drink.


Celery Tea


Celery contains vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin B1, B2, and B6. As well as the minerals, calcium, manganese, iron, folic acid, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and fiber. The antioxidants in celery tea assist in fighting the free radicals in your body. This protects your body from diseases. The potassium keeps your heart beat regular. Celery also helps regulate the fluid in your body.


Celery seeds make this a wonderful tea to detoxify your body. It assists with kidney and bladder ailments, helps with kidney stones as well as kidney diseases. Celery tea is a great help with arthritic and rheumatic aches and pains. Also helps to maintain healthy eyesight. Celery tea is also a useful aid in losing weight.


How to make Celery Tea


Place one teaspoon of fresh celery seed, in a cup. Add hot water.

Let stand for ten minutes, covered. Strain the tea. Drink.


Chamomile Tea


Chamomile Tea contains vitamin C and B1, as well as the minerals, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, copper, iron and zinc. Potassium keeps the heart beat regular. Chamomile tea contains anti-inflammatory properties. This herbal tea is good for rheumatism and arthritis. It also relieves depression, insomnia, panic attacks, eczema, menstrual cramps, headaches, stomach flu, nausea, asthma and for treating stress. Chamomile tea strengthens your immune system, and protects you from illnesses. Do not drink chamomile tea if you are pregnant.


How to make Chamomile Tea


Place dried chamomile flowers in a cup. Add hot water. Let it steep for five minutes. Cover and strain the tea with a tea strainer to remove the flowers.


Raspberry Tea


Raspberry tea is high in potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamin B, which make it helpful in the treatment of nausea, insomnia, diarrhea, eye ailments, sore throat, mouth ulcers and to keep the prostate gland healthy. Potassium helps to keep the heart beat regular. This herbal tea has a high content of vitamin C. Gargle with an infusion of raspberry tea for preventing and treating gum disease. For the treatment of infertility, drink three or more cups daily. Raspberry tea is beneficial for woman as it helps balance hormones. During pregnancy, it strengthens the uterus.


Making Raspberry Tea


Place one teaspoon of dried, chopped raspberry leaves in cup.

Fill with boiling water. Cover the cup. Steep tea for five minutes

Remove cover and strain tea into another cup.


Folk Remedies


This section on folk remedies was written for interest and information. Use at your own discretions.

Skin Cancer


Apply the gel of an aloe leaf onto area three times a day.


Place comfrey leaf on wound. Place a plaster on wound. Repeat three times a day.

Cancer Bush


Break twigs and leaves into small pieces and cover with hot water. Let it stand a while.

Strain and drink a cupful twice daily.




Take the leaves of the peppertree and infuse in warm water. Drink a teaspoonful twice a day. Take small

amounts as this may be poisonous in large quantities.




Egg yolk mixed with as much salt as can be taken up. Stir into a paste.

Rub on twice a day. Cover with plaster.




Make a paste by rubbing garlic until it becomes a pulp. Place on a gauze

and apply onto wound overnight. Repeat daily.


Rub aloe vera juice on lip at least three times a day. Let it dry. Leave on.




Haarlemensies. Place in the corner of the eye.


Catarrh- Throat Inflammation


Take the juice of half a lemon. Add to a cup of warm water

and inhale the mixture.


Nose Bleeding


Stir a teaspoon of cream of tartar in a glass of water. Drink.


Keep your arms above your head. Wet your nose, and behind your neck with cold water.


Old Age


Ginseng slows down the aging process.




Aloe Vera contains acemannan, which is a miracle ingredient when it comes to joint health.

It has a stimulating effect on the immune system, fighting off viruses, reducing inflammation

and repairing tissue and cartilage and protecting the joints. Aloe Vera gel expands the fine

capillaries and purifies the blood. It speeds up cell renewal.


Parkinson’s disease


A study by Rush University Medical Centre in 2014 found that using cinnamon may reverse

the biomechanical cellular and anatomical changes that occur in the brains of mice infected

with Parkinson’s disease.




One tablespoon of honey and glycerine, mixed to a fine paste with egg white and flour.


Soak three figs in a glass of water overnight. Eat them on a empty stomach. Repeat at night.

Do this for a few days.


Prostate – Reduce enlargement


Place young shoots and leaves of stinging nettle in a cup of boiling water.

Let it stand for five minutes. Strain and drink twice a day for a few days.




Place a handful of fresh parsley in a cup. Add boiling water. Let it stand for fifteen minutes.

Drink at least three times daily.


Eat at least one cup of pumpkin seeds twice a day.


Prostate Enlargement – Inflammation


Simmer whole pumpkin seeds to a quart of water for fifteen minutes. Cool and pour into a jar.

The seeds will settle at the bottom. Take a small glass three times per day.
