Global warming: unsure plan of action A first small step was agreed upon with the COP21 in 2015. Its goal is double: start curbing the global warming trend and generate private involvement to lower the costs of renewable energies and energy-efficient products. This first step is unambitious because nations are reluctant to rush decisively and punish their own economy with entrenched unemployment from heavy regulations based on current expensive green technologies. Nations prefer to wait for the private sector to lower the costs of green technologies before more ambitious steps. Post-2030, larger steps post-COP21 must happen based on cheaper renewable energies and energy-efficient products. All these steps must happen fast, as climate experts are ringing the alarm bell to prod the world to act. The coming years must decisively accelerate the progress towards a carbon-free economy.
