Some people are born gifted, just as little Jimmie was, but the gift he was born with wasn’t the kind of gift Jimmie was hoping for. His gift was knowing when someone was going to die, just by looking into their eyes.

It all started when Jimmie was five years old and had just moved into a new home. His gift came to him in a dream, so he thought. Jimmie’s bed was sitting in the very spot where a pentagram was drawn in blood from a human sacrifice that was held just months before his family moved in.

The previous owners were getting too many complaints about hearing screams in the night, so they decided if they were going to continue with these human sacrifices, they may want to move out to the country so the screams would go unnoticed. The owner laid new carpet in the room to cover up the pentagram so the new owners wouldn’t be suspicious.

As Jimmie’s family was unpacking boxes, a neighbor came by and welcoming them to the neighborhood. Jimmie looked at the man’s face and he ran over to his mother, throwing his arms around her leg.

Jimmie’s mother said, “Jimmie, what are doing?”

Jimmie said in a crying voice, “That man is going to die!”

Jimmie’s mother immediately laughed and covered his mouth and said to the stranger, “I’m sorry, my son has an overactive imagination.”

The stranger replied, “That’s okay, my boy is the same way!”

“Jimmie, now run along!” said his mother.

“But, mom!” exclaimed Jimmie.

“Jimmie, I said run along!”

Jimmie ran upstairs to this room, very frustrated that his mom didn’t take him seriously.

The next day, when Jimmie’s mother was relaxing in his lazy boy chair, watching the evening news, she recognized the face of the man that was killed in a hunting accident, but she still didn’t believe her son could know beforehand when and how someone was going to die until a few more of her neighbors died. Jimmie, just looking at their faces, could foresee their demise. Jimmie’s mother finally apologized to him, but the next face Jimmie would look at would be the one he never wanted to see. Before he said what he saw to this person, he decided to end his life and that’s exactly what happened.

Jimmie’s mother was in the kitchen cooking supper and called for him to come and eat. After getting no response, she threw down her apron and stormed upstairs and burst open his bedroom door and got the shock of her life. There lying lifeless on the bed was Jimmie. She thought he was just sleeping, but when she called out to him and got no response, she walked up to his bed and yelled at him to answer her. No response, so she shook him and put her head on his chest to listen for a heartbeat, but there was none. Then she checked his pulse and there was none.

By the time the police arrived, she was dead also. The reason Jimmie ended his life was because it was his mother’s face he looked at and knew she was going to die and there was nothing he or anyone could do about it, so he decided not to tell his mother and be left alone. He decided the best thing to do was to end his life in hopes they both could still reunite after death, and that’s exactly what happened.

After their house was sold, the new owners felt they weren’t alone, and they were right. Jimmie and his mother’s ghost would be handing around the house forever to give any residents bumps in the night.
