It might cost a handsome amount to have regular visits to the spa to get a facial. Or you might be finding hard to keep up with all the beauty products out there. Here is one home-made recipe that has been tried and tested by many. You can make this from natural ingredients easily. No need to go spending when the answer might be right in your cupboard.

What You Will Need

2 tbsp sour cream

2 tbsp honey

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)

Instructions

Cleanse your face using a facial wash so you can thoroughly remove all impurities.

Mix all the ingredients together until it forms a rich smooth creamy paste.

Apply preparation to face and let it stay on for about 20 minutes.

Rinse with tepid water until you have removed it all from your face.

Rinse once more with cool water to close up your pores.

This preparation will help to exfoliate and brighten your skin leaving you looking radiant. Rinsing with the cold water closes your pores giving you a more refined look when you are finished. You will look as if you truly been to the spa.

If you have tired achy feet that needs a bit of soothing, you can get them feeling smooth and supple with this simple solution. You will be able to find most if not all of these ingredients in your kitchen cupboards. No need to rush to the pharmacy to try and find out which solution is best when it is sitting in your kitchen cupboard.

 

What You Will Need

½ cup milk

4 cups warm water

4 large spoons of sugar

2 spoonfuls of baby oil

Pumice stone

Moisturizer

Socks

 

Instructions

Mix together in a bowl, baby oil, and sugar and then set aside.

In a foot bath tub, pour your warm water and milk. Soak your feet in the solution for about ten minutes. Milk is known for its soothing properties and is great for the skin. Cracked heels will welcome the nice warm soothing feeling that comes with using the milk.

Massage the prepared sugar solution to your feet and rub in a circular motion. You can use your pumice stone to remove any of the calluses that are on your feet.

Rinse your feet well and then pat dry with a towel. Apply the moisturizer and put your socks on. You can sleep with them on overnight so that they can absorb all the moisturizer.

What You Will Need

1 cup coconut oil

1 tsp Vitamin E Oil

A few drops of fragrant oil (optional)

Instructions

Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. There is no need to melt the coconut oil first as it will not be able to get that whipped consistency.

Mix all the ingredients together with a whisk or an electric mixer for about 5- 10 minutes until it is light and fluffy. At this point you can add your essential oil and mix a bit more.

Once you are finished you can store your cream into a mason jar or an airtight container. You can store it at room temperature or in the refrigerator if you live in warm climate.

This is actually easier than you might think. You might have been contemplating getting a nice layered haircut but cannot find the time, effort or even the money to go to the salon. Here we present you with a nice option.

What You Need

Scrunchie

Sharp scissors

Instructions

Pull all your hair to the front of your head and hold it together with a scrunchie.

Cut a fair amount of the end (two inches give or take depending on the length of hair you want to end up with)

When you remove the scrunchie you will see you hair nicely layered.

DIY Craft Projects

You can create a stunning visual with wood transfer photos. The process is quite easy and the finished product will make quite an attractive display.

Things you will need

Laser Printed Photos

Cut of wood

Gel Medium (acrylic)

Modge Podge

Brush

Instructions

Locate the photo that you want to transfer to a wood frames and have it laser-printed. Ensure that the photo and the block of wood that you are using are the same size.

Apply the gem medium onto the wood. Ensure that you smooth it on with a brush.

Place the printed photo onto the wood facedown. Place it carefully so that there are no air bubbles under the paper. You can use a butter knife or an old credit card to smooth it out. You can allow it to rest overnight to have it really nice and draw before you move onto the next level.

This next step requires removing the paper from the block of wood. This I achieved by wetting the wood with water and rubbing the paper off with your fingers.

Allow this to dry and then apply a layer of Modge Podge over the frame to seal in the photo.

Your finished product will have a nice vintage look to it.

If you are looking for a nice way to jazz up your flower garden, consider making a few concrete flower pots. They are quick and easy to make and will save you from spending on buying plastic ones.

What You Need

Portland cement

Fine Sand or vermiculite

Water

Molds (You can recycle old containers as molds). Use two different sizes for the best results.

Instructions

Prepare your molds by lining up the small container in the larger one and then piercing to create holes. Use a straw to run through the two contains so that when your mold is created, you will have the perfect drainage holes.

Mix one part cement to one part sand or vermiculite. Add the water a little at a time until it is at a doughy consistency.

You can start by filling in the bottom of the container with cement mixture. The inner container should be a few inches away from the bottom of the first one. Next you fill in the cement mixture around the sides. Make sure the top is nice and even. Once the cement has filled the container you can set it aside to dry for about 24 hours.

Carefully remove the molds from the concrete and reveal your beautifully molded concrete pot.

You can paint them however you like or leave them as they are.

Creating your own wall art is exciting and makes you feel accomplished. You can manipulate styles, designs and the colors. This project can also include children and will make for a great pastime when you are looking for interesting things to get during summer vacations.

Instructions

The greatest benefit of making your own wall décor is that you get to organize the designs however you want to. Whatever your style, you will be able to organize and create a décor that will be a great representation of who you are.

You have one option to create your wall art using photo frames or you can create them by stapling your fabric onto your board.

Start by cutting out your material to the size that you want. It should be measured with the frame you are using.

Glue the material onto the cardboard and allow it to dry. Ensure that there are no air bubbles in the fabric. You can use an old credit card to rub out any bubbles that might occur before they dry.

Frame your artwork however you want. You can use different color frames and different styles to complement the fabric that you choose to have framed.

To make your wall even more interesting you can use different types of designs, shades, and sizes.

Option 2 Creating Wall Art by using A Canvas board

Cut your material so that it can be wrapped around the front and sides of your board with about an inch of allowance. This allowance is so you can easily staple the fabric to the back of the block of wood.

Attach brackets to the back so you can easily hand your handiwork.

Again you can use different colors, fabric print, textures and different size.

You can easily wrap your material around your board and use your staple gun to attach it to the back of the board

Stencils are a great way to create stunning wall décor using an easy option. If you already have your stencils, the process we have laid out will be significantly shorter. Stencils are fun to use. You can put a number of ideas together to create the visual that you need or you can easily duplicate your ideas so that they are similar. You can create a focal wall or add some interest to your interior with stencils.

Things that You Need

Stencil

Stencil brush

Level

Painters tape

Pencil

Paper towels

Instructions

Ensure that the wall that you choose to stencil is being done with a color that adequately accents it.

Imagine the layout that you want and start at a sensible point. Use the painters tape to attach the stencil to the wall. Use your level to ensure that you have a design that is leveled.

Dip your paintbrush in the paint and remove the excess by dabbing on the paper towel. You want your lines to be clean flawless when you remove the tape. Your brush should be almost dry when you are carefully adding the color.

Be careful, not to brush the paintbrush over the stencil so that it does not seep under it.

TO move the stencil you will have to remove it entirely and line it up against the focal points of the previous drawing. Continue then process until you get the design that you want.

Chapter 3

DIY Food Projects

Commercial Fondant is something that many people cannot stand the taste of. You can however choose to make your own Fondant so you can get to flavor it how you want and play around with a few colors and designs. It is much easier than you think.

What You Need

Marshmallows

Icing Sugar

Flavoring (vanilla or almond spice)

Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

Empty the packs of marshmallows into a glass bowl and then place in the microwave. Melt the contents on medium heat for two minutes. It should be melted to a sticky paste.

On a clean surface, sprinkle a small layer of icing sugar.

Empty the melted marshmallows onto the sugared surface. Use a spatula to ensure that everything gets scraped out of the bowl.

Add more sugar to the marshmallow and begin kneading.

Add few drops of flavoring and continue kneading. The dough will be mostly on your hands but keep kneading and keep adding sugar a little at a time until you get something that resembles bread dough. Fondant that is well kneaded will have a smooth look and can be easily molded into different shapes.

If you plan on using it for different designs, you can separate it and add coloring. Fondant is so loved because you can roll it and use it immediately or if you are planning on using it later on be sure to wrap it carefully in plastic bag and store in fridge until a late time.

Some of the most exciting recipes can be completed from utilizing things that are left over. Cake pops are great for parties, teatime or for children’s playtime snack.

Things You Need

Left over cake

Melted chocolate

Melted icing

Finely chopped nuts, chocolate dust, colorful sprinkles etc (optional topping)

Lollipop sticks

Instructions

You can bake a cake from scratch and have it cooled to make your cake pops or you can use a cake that was previously prepared. Empty the cake into a bowl and crumble it nicely. Add a little melted icing and mix well so that it can be rolled and shaped easily.

Once you have mixed the crumbled cake thoroughly you will then use your hands to roll and shape them into nice round balls.

Once you have rounded your cake pop balls firmly, you can then attach the lollipop sticks to the balls and set them aside.

Prepare melted chocolate or icing in separate bowl and once they are smooth they are perfect for dipping your cake pops.

Dip each of the pop you have created into the bowls until they are completely covered.

While they are still moist, follow up by dipping them into the chopped nuts or the sprinkles. You can also choose both topping, if that is what you prefer. You can then set them aside on a sheet of grease paper so they can harden.

You now have your cake pops ready to serve.

2 large egg yolks

1 tsp Dijon mustard

4 tsp fresh lemon juice

1 cup vegetable oil

Ground pepper

Start by placing the eggs in a food processor, along with your mustard and lemon juice. Pulse the ingredients until they are very well combined.

Add the oil to the mixture slowly. (Be careful not to turn off the processor during this stage of mixing). You will realize that our mixture is slowly thickening.

You can then add your pepper and package and refrigerate.

You now have your very own homemade mayonnaise.

Instructions

Start by melting the chocolate bars in a glass bowl in your microwave. Stir the chocolate every few minutes until it becomes thoroughly melted and smooth.

Stir in a can of condensed milk into your chocolate mixture until it is thoroughly combined and set it aside.

Add your heavy cream to a large bowl and whip it until stiff peaks begin to form.

Fold in your whipped cream into your chocolate mixture that you had set aside. .This should be completely mixed before you place in an airtight container and freeze it for at least 2 hours.

You can now serve up your tasty treat.

Nothing beats the taste of homemade pancakes. This recipe has been tried and tested and guaranteed to make you easily forget about ever buying store bought pancakes again. The recipe is easy to follow and the end result so delicious, you will never be able to have enough.

1 cup flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp baking soda

1 egg

3 tbsp melted butter

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Mix together in a large mixing bowl, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Stir together until well combined.

Use a wire whisk and a large fork to add in your egg and lastly add you butter

Pour your pancake mixture over a hot griddle made hot over medium heat. Once it reaches the point of golden brown, flip it to the other side. The only thing left for you to add I the butter and syrup.

The great thing about making pancakes is that if you really truly want to make the recipe your own is to add your own favorite variations. Consider using blueberries, or raisins or even strawberries to make the recipe exciting.

Recycled cans large enough to be used as planters (with covers still intact)

Coat hangers

Scissors

Glue and tape

Coffee Filters

Nail

Hammer

Herbs

Instructions

Remove the can covers and turn the can upside down. Use the nail to create holes in the bottom of the can. You should also create holes on the sides of the cans so that you can add your handles later on.

Use the hammer to create a dent in the bottom of the can. This makes the watering process easy when your pots are hanging.

Flip it over and add soil and herbs.

The next step is to add your coffee filter. Make a cutout so that it fits right around the plant. Cut out the centre of the can cover so that it fit nicely over the top of the can and allow the plat to fit through it.

Use a tape to secure it in place so that it is held securely around your planter.

The next step is to cover your pot with nice fabric or colored paper. Add handles using the wire hanger and hang it in a place you see fit.

Instructions

Start by setting out your patter on your lining and cutting out the relevant pieces. DO the same for your outer fabric and set them aside. You will then get to outline your pattern on your fabric. You should end up with two sets of fabric cutouts, one for the lining and one with the outer fabric.

Start with the lining and line up all the relevant edges and sew them together. Allow a little section to be left open so that you can add your beans.

Once it reaches the amount of beans that you want it is then time to sew it up. With your hands, use a needle and thread to sew the part that was let out.

Next step is to sew your outer fabric. Use Velcro to line the outer edges to make it easy for you to add your stuffing to your bean bag.

Once you have added your bean bag stuffing and your bag is complete… Enjoy lounging on it.

Your planter has to have good drainage and this you can achieve by piercing the bottom of your can. Use a nail and hammer to get holes in the bottom and when your planter is ready, if you are using it indoors place a saucer underneath.

Paint your cans with metal paint so that they do not get rusty down the line.

Try out a variety of paint colors designs to make your handiwork more interesting.

Add your soil and your plants and you have a wonderful planter display.
