Created By: The Word of God
And God Said is repeated at least nine times in the first chapter of Genesis; verses 3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26 and 29. All that exists was created by “The Word of God”:
1. Light (Day and Night);
3. Land and Vegetation;
4. Signs (sun, moon, stars);
5. Living creatures in the Sea and Air;
6. Living creatures on the land including human kind. “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” Genesis 1:31.
7. God rested on the seventh day and made the seventh day holy, (Genesis 2:3).
The Bible says everything was created by “The Word of God!” It wasn’t an accident; everything has a purpose.
Created in the Image of God: “Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness’ . . . So God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:26a and 27). The knowledge that humankind is created in the Image of God is very important in this overview of the Bible.
Subdue: In Genesis 1:28 God gave obedient humans the responsibility to subdue. Subdue means “to overcome or control by persuasion or training.” Subdue involves research, study and experimentation, and then the wisdom to apply the knowledge in a practical, loving manner. Subdue is a very important concept when studying how God created all that exists. See “the embryo theory” in this eBook and the heading labeled “subdue” in the third eBook in this series titled Harmonious Life and Responsibilities.
Creationism vs. Evolution vs. Big Bang theories
Have you ever asked, or has someone asked you, “Where did we come from? Is all that exists just some accident of nature? Did we just explode into existence? Did all life evolve from a single cell?” There does not have to be a big argument about each theory, because all of these theories can be reconciled in the embryo theory.
The Embryo Theory: A Theory about the Development of Our Universe
Think about it: A new human being is conceived when two microscopic pieces of genetic code (DNA in reproductive cells) combine to form one. Some scientists call this genetic code “the word” that guides the development of an embryo (called a zygote at this stage of development; see: www.visembryo.com/baby/1.html).
After conception, the two cells that combined to form one multiply rapidly or explode as the zygote develops. The zygote evolves as it grows. Even after thirteen days it does not look at all like the baby that is born nine months later, see: www.visembryo.com/baby/6.html Some scientists say there is much more information in human DNA than what is needed to develop the embryo. They theorize the extra code in DNA is part of “the word” used to develop the entire universe and everything in the universe.
Where did the original DNA or Word of God come from? We don’t know and the Bible does not give us any clues. For all we know it just appeared or exploded into existence. Or may be God worked on developing the DNA long before the universe, as we know it, was developed. Either way, in relation to the present universe, DNA or “the word” just appeared! Scientists tell us the universe is still developing and expanding. Is this evolution of the universe somewhat similar to the evolution of an embryo from conception and onward?
We are a model: Now think about the whole universe and everything in it developing similar to the development of a human embryo. The model (a human embryo) is not a miniature replica of the universe. Instead, the model is believed to be nearly identical to the universe in concept. Each element or function in the model has a parallel element or function in the universe.
Computers are regularly used to model various phenomenon; flooding along a river for example. There is very little, if any, resemblance between a computer and a river. But a computer can predict flood stages along a river based on rainfall on various areas of land that drain into the river. In a similar manner, human beings may have little, if any, resemblance to the whole universe, but the development of a human embryo can be used to model (to predict) the development of the universe. Embryos were programmed by The Word of God at creation!
Time scale; one day equals one-thousand years: The Bible says God created all that exists in six days and rested on the seventh. “But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day” (2 Peter 3:8 also see Psalm 90:4). Some Bible scholars believe there were approximately 2000 years (two days in God’s time) from Adam to Abraham, approximately 2000 years from Abraham to Jesus Christ and now over 2000 years since the birth of Jesus. So the development of the universe may be at a similar stage of development as an embryo entering the fourteenth day after conception; look again at: www.visembryo.com/baby/6.html.
God intended for us to live indefinitely, as long as we obeyed his word. But we didn’t and we still infrequently obey his word. Some of the people who lived before the flood lived for more than 900 years. The flood had a significant impact on the length of life.
In Genesis 6:3 God indicated human beings are corrupt and their days will be 120 years. It took several generations after the flood before the maximum life span of people was under 120 years of age, but it did eventually happen. Something significant must have happened during the flood to: shorten life spans; and, change how we measure time (using the methods commonly used today to measure time past a few thousand years).
Some scientists say that the earth is billions of years old: Science explains that a baby girl has all of the eggs at the time of birth that she will have. Beginning during puberty the eggs are released one at a time. As mentioned, at conception a human egg and sperm become one cell, then “Explode and Evolve” to form a baby nine months later. Assume this is a model for the growth of our universe, and further, assume the earth contains some of the material that was in the original egg. When “God said” in Genesis Chapter 1, conception occurred. Therefore, assuming some of the material on earth was in existence before conception; the earth maybe 13×365,000 or nearly 5 million – to 43×365,000 or over 15 million years old.
Mankind does not have total understanding. It is known, however, that several earth-shaking events have happened in the past. Some of these events, which are recorded in the Old Testament, include:
- The birth of the heavens and earth (Genesis Chapters 1 and 2);
- The flood (Genesis Chapters 6 through 9);
- The sun stood still and delayed going down for a full day (Joshua 10:13 and 14); and,
- The shadow of the sun went back 10 steps (Isaiah 38:8).
Any one of these earth-shaking events may have altered the characteristics of the earth. What is now measured as billions of years old, instead may be millions of years.

Did God Create Vegetarians?
Many times there are passages that may puzzle a person as the Bible is read. Genesis 1:29-30 is one of those passages!
Genesis 1:29: “Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’” Note that this is in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve were still obedient to the Word of God. In Genesis 9:3 God gives Noah everything that lives and moves for food. During the exodus this was modified to animals that have cloven hooves and chewed the cud, Leviticus 11:1-3. In Mark 7:19 Jesus declared all foods clean; also see Romans 14:20.
Genesis 1:30: “And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground - everything that has the breath of life in it - I give every green plant for food.” Does this mean there were no carnivores in the Garden of Eden? It does fit in with restoration passages, such as: Isaiah 11:6-9+ and 65:17-25 on God’s Holy Mountain “the lion will eat straw like the ox”
Study / Discussion Topics
A. We are “Created in the Image of God”:
1. Does that change your image of yourself?
2. The image you have of others?
3. The attitude you have of yourself and others?
4. The opinion you have of yourself and others?
B. Discuss the power in “The Word of God:”
1. How powerful is God’s Word?
2. In creation?
3. In your life?
4. In the life of others?
C. Discuss creationism, evolution and big-bang theories:
1. How do they differ and how do they mesh in your mind?
2. Discuss the theory that the whole universe is developing similar to that of a human embryo in the first couple of weeks after conception.
3. Examine the idea that the development of a human embryo is a model of the development of the universe at a time scale of one day’s development of an embryo is similar to one-thousand years development of the universe.
4. Exchange views on why more and more scientists are starting to come around to the idea that all that exists was not an accident and that a higher power must have guided the process.
D. Discuss the measurement of time in thousands, millions and billions of years or indefinitely.
1. What changes would you make in your life if you were going to live indefinitely?
2. On the other hand, what changes would you make in your life if you knew you had only one year to live?
3. Matthew 6:27 asks, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Do you find yourself worried about small things in life?
4. Psalm 90:12 teaches us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Do you find you are gaining a heart of wisdom as you grow older?
E. Read / study and discuss Food: Genesis 1:29-30 and 9:3, Leviticus Chapter 11, Mark 7:19, Romans 14:20, Isaiah 11:6-9+ and 65:17-25:
1. What are some of the forbidden foods in Leviticus Chapter 11? Why do you think they were forbidden at that time?
2. What do you eat?
3. Does food selection make a difference?
4. What are some pros and cons of eating different types of food?

All that exits in our universe was created by God. Humans were created in the image of God. Does this mean that if we study the development of a baby we can begin to understand how our universe is developing? The Embryo Theory is introduced as a theory about the development of the universe. Did God create vegetarians in the beginning? Study / Discussion Topics are included. Note: The secondary category for this eBook is science fiction because the embryo theory is seldom, if ever, used to describe the creation of all that exists. We suggest you use the eBooks in this series in group study / discussion sessions. Select a time and place for a group discussion. Then give invitations showing time and place of meeting along with the web address where each person can obtain their own eBook copy.
