When I imagined China before this trip, I am sure like most, the images were of rice paddy fields, old faces of the village folk, and smart new cities bustling and over-crowded and somehow different to Australian cities and behind the faces of the Chinese people I thought there would be the all-powerful Government directing every facet of their lives, all of its 1.5 Billion citizens. This is a trip report that evolved having just travelled to China as part of my job promoting my firm of Australian Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys. I describe my experiences, what I saw, what I tasted and those I met. the story is not a travelogue and it is not a stuffy work report. I try to convey my first hand, first time experience of a new country and its people but in a business setting. I trust this account will be useful for first time travellers to China whether they be on a business trip or for pleasure.
