Delusion Of Words

Copyright 1-7-2017

Steve Lake

Throughout each day I hear

Words being twisted for use

A delusion of words

Commonly being abused

Once a word with meaning so simple

Standing alone on itself

No reading between its lines

Boldly in your face for you to dine

Now each word is skewed

Laziness it is piled deep

Adding multiple meanings’ to each

No longer simple like eating a peach

Words diluted becoming weak

Abusing the word versus a correct one to seek

Slurring a word with letters void

Causing confusion like a broken toy

A word once so powerful

Four letters and to the point

Love said it all so bold but simple

Now diluted into a hoax

Other words within our short past

Coming forth to feel ill wrath

More delusion than illusion

The magic is gone

Now I interpret its cause

Spewed to be witnessed by all

A word punished by slang

Causing us each so much pain

I reflect back unto its neglect

The day the world went wrong

The cause and its effect

When each word caused a verbal wreck

I thought the damage was done

That no more could go wrong

Now in our world abound

Abbreviations would scream out loud

Grammar now makes our lips stammer

Like three year olds having a conversation

Their speech foreign to our ears

Same with the adults that are near

I sit within the echo of others

Trying to accept all the words they slaughter

War of words there is no victor

When all you spew is words grown sicker

Let’s all try to revert back

Using words so simple you keep them in a sack

To be pulled out when you want to convey

Keeping it simple and correct when you need to say

So no longer will you pollute

Instead stay strong with words you salute

Feed your words medicine to heal

Say it strong with correct words you can reveal
